Dear Kimberly, As I expected the moment I booked your lovely cottage, we had a splendid stay. In fact, the experience exceeded our expectations. We will be returning more frequently now that we have discovered this remote and undisturbed corner of the world. My friends and I thank you for everything! Hopefully next time we will get to meet you and have a glass of wine :} I will be in touch , take good care Behrad ( and friends)

Perfect getaway home for family and friends

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and even though Tropical Storm Hermine cut our stay short by one day, we couldn't have been happier with the accommodations and our surroundings. There's nothing better than being able to let the kids play on the shore right in front of the house within clear view of the porch. We can't wait to come back next year, hopefully for 2 weeks instead of just 1!

Perfect family getaway

  • 5 of 5

We needed a beach house for a vacation with our daughter, her husband, and their four children, ages two through six. We hoped this older place would be OK. We fell in love with it. The warm tones of the wood paneling, floors and ceilings gave the house a homey, cozy feel, inviting us into a simpler life. The open floor plan was ideal for us. Our daughter's family took the upstairs bedrooms. The curtained doorways made it easy to keep track of who was where, and doing what. Upstairs, there's a small gap between the edge of the floor and the outside walls, allowing air--and the sound of kids who aren't sleeping--to travel between upstairs and downstairs, making the baby monitor almost unnecessary. My husband and I had the downstairs bedroom, the only one with a door. We all gathered around the big dining table and enjoyed lots of real food. The toddlers played on the floor with their trucks. We set up the kiddie pool on the rear deck and spent lots of time relaxing out there.

The beach was our back yard--no ordeal of packing up for a day in the sun. The water was a little muddy, but safe for the little ones, with no surf or undertow. Beachcombing was amazing. We picked up colorful smooth stones, shells of many kinds, and polished glass fragments. The horseshoe crab shells provided endless fascination. There was plenty of soft sand for digging and walking the beach. By the way, this is the most picturesque beach I've ever visited, with its sweeping curved shoreline, plain houses painted in soft colors, a stone jetty, and a tiny town across the river. No glitz here. The most exciting event was watching the Coast Guard conduct a water rescue training session out past the jetty.

The water that covered the road at high tide gave us a chance to see minnows and blue crabs up close. The little bridge down at the bend in the road was the perfect fishing spot. We spent so much time in the kayaks that all the adults went home with tired arms and shoulders. We took two day trips, to the Dover AFB Museum and the waterpark at Killens Pond. I recommend both. The Family Dollar in Frederica is all the store you'll need, once you've stocked up after arriving.

And Kim made us feel really welcome, answering questions, helping me with the wifi, and sending out a handyman when a toddler walked through a screen door. What a gracious hostess! Thank you, Kim, for a wonderful week. We hope to return again and again.

An Incredible Home Makes and Incredible Vacation

  • 5 of 5

This is the first home I have ever rented, and I can surely say the experience was more than perfect. The owner was kind and friendly, and 100% understanding to all concerns that we had as guests. To begin, renting and booking was a piece of cake, which made the experience start off great.

When we arrived to the house, it was more beautiful than we could have ever imagined. The charm that this 1920's home had was like no other, creating a relaxing atmosphere for the whole week.

There were 12 of us to begin, with people coming and going throughout the whole week. Being college students, we didn't mind sleeping on couches and air mattresses. If we would have had just 12-14 people, there would have been plenty of bed space for all of us. My boyfriend and I slept in the "master bedroom" which was beautiful hardwood, and it was simply gorgeous to look at. Overall, we loved the home and all of its amenities.

This house is on the bay side, which is incredible to see. The sunsets and sunrises in the morning were always gorgeous and it was fun to have beach fires. Another sight to see is the amount of horseshoe crabs. This house is right along a sanctuary, so it's pretty hard to swim with all of them around. However, with Rehoboth Beach being just a drive away, this was not an issue for us. We were still able to kayak, lay out, and play games on the sand. The only issue was the amount of bugs from the crabs and the bay, but this didn't deter us from having a wonderful trip. I can truly say that I hope to be able to rent this home again and share more memories with people here. The nature and charm was just amazing, and I hope that we will have the opportunity to stay again. I would recommend this home to absolutely anyone.

A piece of paradise

  • 5 of 5

Its hard to express how much we enjoyed our stay. The house was very clean and well kept. It had everything you could possibly need. We enjoyed the beach and the view was more than amazing. I just can't say enough how much we enjoyed everything and hope that we will be able to return. Kimberly was very helpful in making sure we had directions and that everything was in good shape for us. Our time there was just too short!

Amazing doesn't begin to describe this place!

  • 5 of 5

I wish I could give this wonderful beach house 10 stars, 5 just doesn't quite give it justice. If you are looking for a McMansion with all the trappings of our ultra plugged in lives, this is not for you. This is a house to unplug and make lifelong memories. To eat dinner as a family, sit and talk the night away on the porch, watch old movies together or drink coffee watching the sun rise. I originally rented this house as a graduation gift for my son before he started his adult life after college. It will now become our annual family retreat. I have been to Europe and all over the US, this place tops my list of vacations. To start, Kim made the whole process so easy and she is easily reached with a super quick response time. We arrived and the house was clean and the heat was on to make us comfortable at check in. It was exactly as described but better. The home is right on the beach with everything you could need for an old fashion sea side vacation. We used the kayaks, sand toys, beach chairs, kites, etc all week long. The neighbor was so friendly and provided us with tons of local info. The kitchen and bathroom was stocked with everything we needed including towels and a washer/ dryer. Shopping and attractions are just a short drive away. The beach was all but deserted the entire week, but we collected tons of shells, fished ( the licence is super cheap at Walmart), watched the Coast Guard do rescue training and checked out the horseshoe crabs. Overall, this house was very comfortable for all that came with us ( 8 people ages 3 to 70), its coziness brought our family together for a much needed reset and re-connection. We made so many memories and just enjoyed each others company, my oldest son took his engagement pictures on the beach in front of the house. We fell in love with this house and put our reservation request for next year in 2 hours after we checked in! I would recommend this home to everyone but I don't want the secret to get out!!!! Thank you Kim for allowing us to share your amazing home!!

Secluded and relaxing

  • 4 of 5

Our family of 17 - nine adults and eight children ages 3-14 absolutely loved our relaxing vacation at this beach house. We're a close family so sharing two bathrooms and the open loft sleeping spaces wasnt an issue for us. The only problem was that the road into the property flooded every morning and evening when the tide came in so we had to plan outings around the tides. Which was fine because a trip to Walmart and back took about an hour so we tried not to go out much. The beach is right outside the back door and our family had the entire beach to ourselves the entire week. We had fires on the beach. We got seafood at Medings at great prices. The best part is Kim really made us feel like we could make ourselves at home and even offered to let us stay when the eclipse made checking out difficult. Overall a great time and beautiful home away from home

Owner's Response: Amy, I am so glad you enjoyed your vacation! That house is perfect for family gatherings. You had some unique weather with high tides and a lunar eclipse which I have never experienced but the tidal pools during that event caused the back bays to flood . I am glad you made the best of it and I could not have predicted that happening in a million years ! I received some amazing pictures of the moon that week and evening. Thank you for your comments and I hope you will be back , less tidal moons and lunar eclipses we will research! thank you for taking the time to write the review. I am updating the posting and would appreciate if you want any pics posted. Kind regards Kimberly

We have loved this house for years and its part of the reason we keep it. Please check out the historic inscriptions on the wall behind the front door. This house was built in 1931 by a ship builder. You and your family will love this true historic cottage feel. No glam here its all in the memories and the nostalgia, immediately when you walk in you know this cottage has shared many family memories. It's not the Ritz-Carlton, I would say more like Hemingway would have written some of his best novels here! We unplug and haven't had a phone, or internet there in years so bring your devices but know we don't have internet. We used our cell phones as hot spots. Enjoy and please ask if you have requests...we can help in many ways as we are long time residents that can arrange a few quirks! Bring your extended family and don't worry about the sand..it's a beach cottage!!
