Guestbook comments from the owner

Dear Kimberly, As I expected the moment I booked your lovely cottage, we had a splendid stay. In fact, the experience exceeded our expectations. We will be returning more frequently now that we have discovered this remote and undisturbed corner of the world. My friends and I thank you for everything! Hopefully next time we will get to meet you and have a glass of wine :} I will be in touch , take good care Behrad ( and friends)

We have loved this house for years and its part of the reason we keep it. Please check out the historic inscriptions on the wall behind the front door. This house was built in 1931 by a ship builder. You and your family will love this true historic cottage feel. No glam here its all in the memories and the nostalgia, immediately when you walk in you know this cottage has shared many family memories. It's not the Ritz-Carlton, I would say more like Hemingway would have written some of his best novels here! We unplug and haven't had a phone, or internet there in years so bring your devices but know we don't have internet. We used our cell phones as hot spots. Enjoy and please ask if you have requests...we can help in many ways as we are long time residents that can arrange a few quirks! Bring your extended family and don't worry about the sand..it's a beach cottage!!

Only thing to hate is packing up!

  • 5 of 5

This Cottage offers the cozy feeling of home but the relaxation of being on vacation or just a weekend away. If you are looking to unplug from the hustle and bustle of daily life and being hooked up to gadgets, and re-charge and reconnect with the things that really matter this cottage is the best place to do so! It's far enough to be quiet and relaxing yet close enough to do sight seeing and venture. The Tranquility of being so close to the bay keeps us close to the house though, waking up to the waves crashing and the birds playing in the wind is the most nostalgic sound. The only thing that we hate about this place is having to pack up and head home, but we enjoy knowing we can come back at any time. Kim has accomplished making you feel like part of the family when you are here.

Loved every minute of it!

  • 5 of 5

As the description clearly states, this is not the Ritz-Carlton. This is more like a cottage that has been in your family for years and Kim provides EVERYTHING to make it feel that way. Every beach toy imaginable is available to you! Bikes, kayaks, board games...you name it and Kim has it. Beach towels, shower towels, bed linens, blankets (extra blankets!) are there, on the bed and freshly cleaned! The house itself is 'rustic'...exposed beadboard, pine boards, the second floor offers separate sleeping areas but only partitioned by almost ceiling high wood walls and heavy canvas drapes for maybe a degree of privacy! The pictures do not do this cottage justice. If you want to step back in time and love rocking in a chair under a covered porch watching sea gulls on the water, book this place now! It will feed your soul!

Relaxing weekend away in a charming beach cottage!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 4 (3 generations) + our 2 senior dogs had a really lovely time at this charming beach cottage right on the bay. The weather was picture perfect, which just amped up the enjoyment of our extended weekend there. Days were seasonably cool and long walks on the beach were on the agenda every day. Sunrises, moonrises off the porch looking out over the bay, sunsets over the marsh from the deck, just beautiful.

The owner was a pleasure to work with and quick to respond to any questions we had. The cottage was equipped with everything we needed, and having linens there was a big help! We made good use of the available heaters since the nights were cold, and they kept us toasty. We did bring in bottled water, though, as the water had an unpleasant sulphur smell (rotten eggs), but that was not a big deal for us. The washer/dryer was great to have as well.

Thanks, Kim, for sharing this gem of your with us 🙂򠠠We look forward to coming back to this rustic cottage on the beach for more R&R in the future!

Quaint, charming, cozy!

  • 5 of 5

We love the beach in the off season and this cottage was a perfect fit for us. It had everything and more that we needed. The cottage was clean, comfortable, and homey. We (my husband and I)

and our golden retriever, Sally Mae, loved its charm. It is in a quiet location and when you walk down from the porch you're on the beach which was amazing. The weather was cool the first couple of days and we did use the heat which worked just fine. After the second day of our vacation, we had a little bit of a heat wave for mid-October in the upper 70s, low 80s! The weather was sunny and gorgeous; we were so blessed to be there during the full hunter's moon....beautiful! During the full moon, at high tide the back bays come up over the road a bit but they do recede after a few hours. It was no big deal at all to us. We just planned accordingly when we wanted to go to town etc. There are several restaurants close by which were delicious. Kim was super accommodating to us and always very reachable. Thanks Kim! We hope to come back next fall!

Perfect getaway home for family and friends

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and even though Tropical Storm Hermine cut our stay short by one day, we couldn't have been happier with the accommodations and our surroundings. There's nothing better than being able to let the kids play on the shore right in front of the house within clear view of the porch. We can't wait to come back next year, hopefully for 2 weeks instead of just 1!

Perfect family getaway

  • 5 of 5

We needed a beach house for a vacation with our daughter, her husband, and their four children, ages two through six. We hoped this older place would be OK. We fell in love with it. The warm tones of the wood paneling, floors and ceilings gave the house a homey, cozy feel, inviting us into a simpler life. The open floor plan was ideal for us. Our daughter's family took the upstairs bedrooms. The curtained doorways made it easy to keep track of who was where, and doing what. Upstairs, there's a small gap between the edge of the floor and the outside walls, allowing air--and the sound of kids who aren't sleeping--to travel between upstairs and downstairs, making the baby monitor almost unnecessary. My husband and I had the downstairs bedroom, the only one with a door. We all gathered around the big dining table and enjoyed lots of real food. The toddlers played on the floor with their trucks. We set up the kiddie pool on the rear deck and spent lots of time relaxing out there.

The beach was our back yard--no ordeal of packing up for a day in the sun. The water was a little muddy, but safe for the little ones, with no surf or undertow. Beachcombing was amazing. We picked up colorful smooth stones, shells of many kinds, and polished glass fragments. The horseshoe crab shells provided endless fascination. There was plenty of soft sand for digging and walking the beach. By the way, this is the most picturesque beach I've ever visited, with its sweeping curved shoreline, plain houses painted in soft colors, a stone jetty, and a tiny town across the river. No glitz here. The most exciting event was watching the Coast Guard conduct a water rescue training session out past the jetty.

The water that covered the road at high tide gave us a chance to see minnows and blue crabs up close. The little bridge down at the bend in the road was the perfect fishing spot. We spent so much time in the kayaks that all the adults went home with tired arms and shoulders. We took two day trips, to the Dover AFB Museum and the waterpark at Killens Pond. I recommend both. The Family Dollar in Frederica is all the store you'll need, once you've stocked up after arriving.

And Kim made us feel really welcome, answering questions, helping me with the wifi, and sending out a handyman when a toddler walked through a screen door. What a gracious hostess! Thank you, Kim, for a wonderful week. We hope to return again and again.
