Duck Creek is a mountain paradise at an elevation of 8500 feet perfectly located between Cedar Breaks National Park, Brian's Head Ski Resort, Bryce National Park and Zions National Park.

Duck Creek Pines is the premier neighborhood within Duck Creek Village due to the tall pines and covenants ensuring that all mountain homes are actually true cabins. You won't see trailers or weird siding on homes detracting from the mountain ambiance.

But that isn't all. Smith and Wesson is the envy of all of Duck Creek Pines with lots four times larger than the rest of the others. Situated on 2.5 acres, Trailside Lodge is the perfect retreat. The quiet of the National Forest insulating the back of the property and stunning views of the cliffs in the distance from the front decks. There isn't a better location from which to launch your mountain getaway.

Reserve now for 50% down and the remainder due 30 days before check in. All stays require two night minimum. Holidays and holiday weekends require 3 - 5 night minimum. Government issued ID required for confirmation of reservation.

We are happy to allow approved pets. We do screen them ahead of time - please let us know about any pets you would like to bring at the time you request booking. We just want to make sure they are well behaved, won't chew things, etc. and that they are not accustomed to being on furniture. Please also give us the age of your pet. No pets under the age of 2 or over 75 pounds will be approved. Thanks for your understanding and for helping us keep our cabin in beautiful condition. Please note that no reservation is final until both the deposit is paid and the pet is approved.

The cabin is one of the few cabins with AIR CONDITIONING and has three levels:

MAIN: Bedroom with two twins, full bath, spacious gourmet kitchen, laundry room, vaulted family room.

DAYLIGHT BASEMENT: Bedroom suite with queen bed, queen pull out couch and full bath, family room with two additional queen pull out couches and inflatable Frontgate queen bed. DECK: grill, 6 adirondack chairs, table, more chairs, bird feeders

About John & Jan Thomson

We love the outdoors and spending time together as a family hiking, ATV riding, reading, traveling and playing games.

John & Jan Thomson purchased this cabin in 2014

Why John & Jan Thomson chose Utah

Duck Creek has been our paradise for over eight years. We rented cabins for several years and finally purchased one in 2011. We continued to treasure our time in Duck Creek and when the opportunity presented itself to upgrade and purchase the cabin of our dreams in 2014 we jumped on it. We get together regularly with extended family and friends here and have made memories to last lifetimes.

What makes this cabin unique

Trailside Lodge offers the best of everything. Duck Creek Pines beauty. Smith and Wesson privacy. Close to so many national parks and fully equipped with everything you could want. The views from the deck and abundant recreation will make you never want to go inside and the comfort and beauty of the inside will make you never want to go home.

Fantastic Home in Duck Creek Village, UT!!!

  • 5 of 5

5 adults stayed at the Trailside Lodge for 5 days and loved every minute of it. The views were awesome. The location could not have been better. The lodge was beautifully decorated, very clean, adequately equipped, and super comfortable. Interaction with the owners was very courteous and prompt. We highly recommend this property.

Absolutely beautiful home

  • 5 of 5

This was the most lovely and comfortable home that we have stayed in, and we have had a chance to stay in dozens of homes listed by VRBO. Every detail of the home is well thought out and perfectly appointed. I am so pleased that I chose this home.

This was our first visit to Duck Creek, and we enjoyed exploring the nearby Cascade Falls, and easy access to Bryce. It was too hot to visit Zion , so we'll just have to plan another trip later in the year! We also enjoyed a great meal and dessert at the nearby Pinewoods Lodge.

Thank you so much for sharing your home with us. Cindy

Perfect log home in the mountains Close to Zion and Bryce Top of the line amenities

  • 5 of 5

We loved, loved, loved this home! Everything was meticulously thought out and top of the line. Our teenage boys loved the game room when we came home in the evening. Rented ATV's and took the trail right behind the house for a day of exploring and great photo ops! Enjoyed hanging on the deck and watching the chipmunks try and steal the birdseed. Great appliances in the kitchen - used the waffle iron and the coffee maker and the Vitamix. All the rooms were beautiful and comfortable. Good week to have air conditioning as the canyons hit 106 degrees! The upstairs bedroom was a bit warm at times. But definitely a great home. Highly recommend it. The town was friendly and the lie at Aunt Sue's chalet was excellent!

Owner's Response: Maureen, We are SO glad you enjoyed your stay - and the pie at Aunt Sue's! Thanks for taking the time to let us know! While we don't need the AC often, there are definitely times every year that we are SO glad we are one of the few cabins that have it! We'd love to have you back anytime.

Really nice cabin

  • 4 of 5

Over all it is a very nice property. The location is great and the setting is beautiful. Very nice decor throughout the house. There are a lot of steps in the house. Master shower needs a sweep on the bottom of the glass door as it is almost impossible to keep any shower water from running down the door and getting the rug wet (which is laying on hardwood floor). The cleaning service needs to step up their game! All of the ceiling fans have a lot of dust on them, cobwebs in kitchen ceiling and mouse droppings under the bathroom cabinets. The house itself is very nice, but needs some TLC.

Owner's Response: We appreciate being informed of the dust and cobwebs on the ceiling fan up in the master bedroom. I stayed the weekend and left the morning you checked in but I didn't notice it. The cleaners generally do a great job. Flipping a cabin between renters can be taxing and cleaning an entire home, doing all the laundry, remaking all beds, putting all dishes away, cleaning out the fridge, etc takes a long time. By necessity they rotate things like cleaning under bathroom sinks and getting the ceiling fans wiped down. We've talked to them and they will make sure to push those items up in the rotation. Though our cabin is very well sealed, I'm sure everyone who rents a place in the mountains knows that catching an occasional mouse is inevitable. We guard against it as much as possible and the cleaners are on the lookout for anything during every cleaning. We've found evidence of, and caught three mice in the past three years. Again, not a common occurrence, but one that is unavoidable. Now that we are aware of cleaning under the sinks they will be taken care of immediately. We take exceptional pride in the the care of our cabin because it is a second home for us. We had it professionally furnished and decorated it with only the best for both our comfort and the comfort of our guests. We've upgraded appliances and furnishings regularly - adding or replacing things at least every quarter. In the past three months alone we've added a Keurig coffee maker, Vitamix blender and replaced all the blinds in the front family room with real wood blinds. In the coming three months we are replacing the blinds on all the exterior doors, replacing the exterior door handles and replacing the sofa bed mechanisms. We screen our guests carefully and are continually updating things so that we don't have an issue like many of the cabins up there with being run down or well maintained. I will look into the shower sweep you mentioned. I have showered 100 times at least and I have never had that issue nor have any of our guests, but I will certainly take a look to see if it is something we need to have attached. With regards to the stairs, the cabin description clearly states that there is a basement, main floor and upstairs master bedroom. I am sorry that caught you off guard. There are a few single story cabins in Duck Creek which might be a better fit for you if you should ever return. Thanks again for your feedback.

Great stay in beautiful and well organized mountain house

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 7 enjoyed staying in this well maintained house which sits on the edge of the national forest. The house was well supplied and very organized. Very comfortable furnishings with a variety of games to play (air hocky, foosball, video games, etc.) in the large gameroom which we enjoyed a lot when we weren't hiking canyons in the nearby national parks or riding ATV's on the many forest trails in the area. Lots of wildlife (mule deer, antelope and a variety of smaller mammals roam the area). Its fairly remote location is close to Duck Creek Village which has ATV rentals and great pizza (Mama's), but it is about a 45 min. trip through mountain passes to Cedar City to get to groceries or to more restaurants. Highly recommend this place!
