SORRY, WE DO NOT ACCOMMODATE WEDDING GROUPS.
It was PERFECT, the refreshing pool, super comfy beds, abundance of places to put our stuff. For a family of 7 to be so comfortable is no easy feat! My husband especially loved the 4-seasons room. I did yoga on the deck overlooking beautiful trees. I really appreciated the generous amount of towels! (enough for pool AND bathing). Thanks so much for your kindness as well.
Family of nine ages 8 to 77y enjoyed every aspect of this wonderful restful home, there was something for everyone. Anything you could imagine was provided. Beautiful hideaway yet accessible to shops short drive away.
We are a family of travelers and thought we'd have a quiet week at this lovely house. We were wrong...there was so much to do, we were always on the go. We visited the Dutchess County Fair, went peach picking, visited The Vanderbilt Estate, and the home of President Franklin Roosevelt at Hyde Park, lunched at the Culinary Institute twice, went to Saratoga Racetrack, dined there, we saw Leagondary guitarist Bucky Pizzarelli. We went to the movies, swam in the wonderful pool on the premises, and, had an amazing Sunday brunch at The Mohonk Mountain House. We shopped at a top notch grocery store just a few miles down the road, and had an all round wonderful stay.
The house has everything you need to enjoy a B-B-Q, excellent outdoor dining and lounging areas, it is quiet, the sleeping environment is perfect, the beds and pillow are perfection, and there are lots of areas in the house so four to eight people so that no one is " on top of each other". The linens are plentiful, kitchen well equipped, the house is well lit, TV reception if perfect with lots of channel choices.
We had a wonderful time and hope to return for a few nites again this summer.
From the moment we arrived, our stay was great. Rob showed us around the house and grounds. The house was immaculate, fully stocked with linens, lots of towels and a full play area with toys. The pool is large and so gorgeous to swim in. The pool area has lots of chairs and reclining chairs to relax in. There is a box full of life jackets & water toys for children. The home, pool & land (massive!) are well maintained. We enjoyed supper on the deck. The pictures don't do the home justice. It is way nicer than the actual pictures. We were 2 families in the home (10 people) & extremely comfortable. There is so much space! On a rainy day, we loved sitting in the sun room that has windows on 3 sides. We didn't even go out anywhere to tour. We enjoyed our stay in the home & on the grounds so much. Would definitely go back.
I hope you take the time to read this because I'm sure you will find it helpful: The times I spent at Mackey were relaxing and fun! Robert and Jonna are personable and professional. They made arrangements easy and accommodating. I would recommend this house to anyone looking for some "home away from home" time. The kind where you relax by the pool, enjoy dinner on the deck, or breakfast in the window room. We call it that because three of four walls have windows overlooking the beautiful grounds; a door leading to the pool and another to the deck. (its a great room). One of the many reasons we appreciated the gorgeous pool is there is always an option of sun or shade anytime of the day. My 3 year old son loved the pool, but also the swing set/clubhouse. They both kept him busy for hours :) The house is great for multiple guests too. Each bedroom has a nearby full bathroom. But the master suite is amazing with its super sized shower stall and enjoyable Jacuzzi tub, and the skylights are cheerful by day and romantic by night. I just can't say enough about the place. If you're not familiar with the area, take a short trip to New Paltz and check out the restaurants and shops. I hope you enjoy it as much as we have, and we plan on enjoying again very soon :)
My son and I had a magical time in Highland. The gray house has that rare combination of low-key chill and sophistication, perfect for a vacation. With its hardwood and carpeted floors, split levels, sloped ceilings, and a room full of windows, the house has an airy (modern) and classic vibe.
But the house isn't even the main draw of the Highland residence! I was swept away most by the backyard: The gated swimming pool (which was sparkling and warm both times we stayed) is an obvious appeal. But the rest of the yard enraptured me, bringing to mind Anne of Green Gables and other heroines living in idyllic settings. You can observe it from above on the back deck, but it's better to get right down into it. It's a large grassy area with abundant apple and pear trees. If you've been in the City long enough, it's more than appropriate to spread your arms wide and give out a yelp or a song in this beautiful place. There's also a sturdy wooden-framed swingset, and the owners' daughter is growing yellow tomatoes and cucumbers on the side yard.
When we stayed, my son was sleeping in the sunroom in a baby swing programmed with sounds like jungle rhythms and crickets. Appropriately enough, we chose the crickets. But on several occasions, I couldn't tell if the chirping crickets were coming from the swing or the hushed landscape outside.
