The Country House is a newly renovated 2400 sq ft., 100 year old farmhouse with 5 beautifully appointed bedrooms and 2 large comfortable living spaces. The house sits on a beautiful 40 acre setting located just 5 minutes from downtown Mansfield, PA and less than 15 minutes from Historic Wellsboro, PA. The Country House has beautiful views of protected wetlands where there are migrating Canadian Geese, thousands of croaking peepers, wild turkeys, deer and black bear. Sitting on the front porch, looking at the tranquil setting will feel like days gone by. There are many places to wonder and explore on the estate….
The Carriage House is located on an estate where there are 2 homes located near each other which can both be reserved to accommodate large groups comfortably. The tranquil setting is wonderful for children…ideal for sitting around the campfire in Adirondack style seating, star gazing, roasting marshmallows, catching lightening bugs, grilling out, picnic lunches and enjoying time with family and friends while having all the wonderful things to do in Tioga County in your back yard. The Estate is a perfect location for a large family get-a-way, a reunion or a corporate retreat when you rent both homes for a total of 9 bedrooms.
Rachel and David Tews - Proprietors
We opened our home as a vacation rental in 2009. We moved to another home and decided to turn it into a vacation rental rather than sell the property. My husband and I both own other businesses in downtown Wellsboro, PA. I am the owner of The Fifth Season, a women's boutique and home furnishings store. (Stop by and visit the store, especially if you love the design style and decor in the homes.) My husband is a partner in a telecommunications company called Indigo Wireless. We are very active in our community and are often found working on one of our many charity or philanthropic ventures. We are the proud parents of 4 children. 2 older boys one who lives in Scottsbluff NE and one who will soon be graduating from University of Pittsburgh. We have 2 young girls, one who is 4 and one who is 7 who love attending Montessori and doing dance and gymnastics and performing in shows.
David and Rachel Tews purchased this house in 1997
My husband purchased this property in 1997 and raised his 2 older sons here. He moved to the area to build a cellular system in the area. They were animal lovers and had a Noah's ark of rescued animals living on the property which is perfectly conducive to many animals with the large open pastures and nostalgic renovated red roofed barn. There are still 2 donkeys that live on the property. (called Peter and Buckwheat) When my husband and I met in 2006 we decided we needed to live in Wellsboro to be closer to our other businesses. Rather than sell the home we decided to turn it into a vacation rental and share the beautiful setting with others.
Our property is a beautiful 40 acres that sits across from a protected wetland. It is a very peaceful oasis to visit when you are looking to get-a- way from the fast paced life of the city and suburbs. If you love a beautifully decorated home with all the modern amenities this is the home for you. The homes are decorated in the lovely 'Fifth Season' style.
Absolutely beautiful!!! Recently we stayed in the Country House while visiting family in the NY area. My family decided to join us as well and all 11 of us stayed comfortably in the house with plenty of room to sleep, relax and enjoy each others company. The house is absolutely beautiful, the beds were very comfortable and we all enjoyed as much time as we could outside whether it be running through the huge yard with our kids, grilling meals or roasting marshmallows on the fire. My children loved visiting the donkeys to which they named hee-haw and Annabelle :) We will definitely be staying here in the future when we visit our family in NY. Rachel and Dave were fantastic in making sure we felt at home!
Our family loved this house and would love to visit again. Beautiful decor and very comfortable overall, it only receives 4 stars because one of the bedrooms upstairs was very small with an uncomfortable bed. Well suited for children, but not for even one adult. Overall a lovely home with three adorable furry neighbors.
Very comfortable and cozy for our winter family retreat. Beautiful decor, including Christmas decorations throughout the house. Amazingly comfortable beds, every detail was thought of and provided, from kitchen to bathrooms. Just minutes from the interstate on a quiet country road.
Rachel was very easy to work with and extremely accommodating. The Country House at Mulberry Hill Estate is amazing and was just the right size for our large family. It was a great place for all of us to call home for the weekend. We had plenty of gathering space in the family room and dining room to laugh, reminisce and play card games. They all went on a hike together through the fields on Saturday and took the dogs. The home has a beautiful fire pit surrounded by Adirondack seating that we unfortunately didn't have the opportunity to use as we received 2 inches of snow over the weekend when we were there but look forward to it in the future. My wife and I couldn't have been happier to have enough space to accommodate all of us. The home is very nicely decorated with a nice size kitchen that flows well into the dining room and family room. You will not be disappointed booking your stay at the Country House at Mulberry Estates and we look forward to booking both the Country House and Carriage House in the near future for a Family Reunion.
This home was exactly what we wanted and needed. As we were originally from the area it wasn't a vacation spot for us but a place where our immediate family could stay to visit extended family. However I would highly recommend it for someone wanting to vacation in the Wellsboro, Pine Creek, Mansfield area. The donkey and horses were an added treat for the kids to see and feed carrots and apples. We will most likely stay here again.
The house was awesome with lots of space, inside and out! It was the perfect place for our family reunion! The firepit was our favorite spot, with lots of seating for evening fires!
We had an absolutely wonderful stay at this BEAUTIFUL home. My family came into town from NH and NJ for a local wedding. I originally grew up in the area but moved away 30 years ago. It was very comfortable, the beds were great. It was so much better to have all of us in a home rather then 5 hotel rooms without one area to gather. I highly recommend this rental and will get it again if all of us come back at the same time. Jeanette Perham
Ps We LOVED Peter and Buckwheat the donkeys
