Coosawattee River Resort:
Coosawattee River Resort (as the name suggests) is on the Coosawattee River in Ellijay, Georgia just an hour and a half north of Atlanta. Walking down the road a bit, you can hear the river as it meanders toward Carter's Lake. Deer, numerous birds and even turkey can be seen on every walk.
The community has various common areas and miles and miles of gravel roads great for walking. At the Eagle Mountain entrance, the quaint General Store and the animal refuge add to the country flair.
But never fear, you won't be too far from civilization if you discover there's something you forgot or if you decide to head to town for dinner. A quick 10 minute drive and you'll be in East Ellijay.
The community also does tubing trips from the general store and there are several access points to the river.
An international traveller from Atlanta who has lived overseas on multiple occassions. My style of travel doesn't involve hotels as I like to meet the locals and stay in 'real' homes/flats.
Now, I have a cabin/vacation home of my own that I would like to share with others. Please reach out to me if you have any questions.
Love the Ellijay area which is only an hour and a half north of Atlanta. The area has lots to offer with Carter's Lake, the Coosawattee and Cartecay Rivers, the Apple festival, numerous trails and much more.
When we walked into the cabin we were taken back by the beautiful kitchen and living room. The cabin had all of the amenities to make you feel at home. We are already planning our return trip to Falling Leaf Retreat.
The cabin was comfortable, clean, spacious, and just what we were looking for in a weekend retreat to see the colors of the fall leaves. While just about 10-15 minutes away from downtown Ellijay, the cabin was far enough away to feel the spaciousness of the mountains, but close enough to have reasonably quick access to shops and restaurants. It was a thumbs up from each of us who stayed there.
We enjoyed our stay here at falling leaf! The cabin is very well kept, had everything we needed in the way of kitchen and laundry supplies, games ,and movies. The recreation center is a short drive down the road and we had a great time playing basketball, putt putt and pool and air hockey. They have a big indoor pool and workout room too, but we didn't use that. There is a place you can tube, in season, close to the resort. The hot tub was wonderful too..clean and worked well. There are 3 bedrooms all a generous size, with full size beds and a loft with a nice fouton that converts to a bed. The area is nice and quiet and it's a short drive to grocery stores and resturants. Christa is very responsive and great to work with.
Would like a king bed in two rooms instead of queen. No mattress on top instead foam, when you lie on it feels like bed is going to break. One bed not mattress pad, not good to not have one. Also no mattress on top of that bed. Kitchen benches not good two grand kids bench fell forward the one hit her chin on the table falling forward. The hot tub nice but foggie water. Mattresses at Rooms to go same price for king and queen bed i think $895.00 for set. I bought for our condo in florida.
Location great to all amenities. No firewood disappointing, so we could not burn a fire. Owner very nice. Over all i like the place a lot. Two many puzzles though to pick up to keep away from baby. Everything else clotted free which is a big plus for me.
This was a lovely cabin and was great for a short girls' weekend in the mountain. There were great paths to go walking throughout the neighborhood and challenging hills to climb. We had a fire each night and loved the solitude. The kitchen was nicely stocked as were the linens. The beds upstairs were quite hard but the one in the master was fine.
Smooth communication and nice cabin. Enjoyed the weekend with both outside and inside fireplaces and hot tub. Good tasting smores as a result ! Good location, secluded in the resort ...
Rentals no longer come with access to Coosawatee River Resort Amenities. Unfortunately, the association has decided to SEVERELY limit guest access to amenities and it is no longer possible to offer access to guests.

VRBO does not allow an additional set fee for parties over 4. However, it takes the cleaner an extra hour when there are additional linens to wash. Thus, I reserve the right to retain $25 from the refundable deposit for additional cleaning costs. Using the deposit funds is more accurate as I can charge the additional amount only when it is charged to me rather than charging an additional per night rate for larger parties.
