About Steve Passey

We love the beauty of the New River Gorge, the plethora of outdoor adventure choices in the area, and hiking the miles of trails. We most enjoy bringing our three little girls here for 'woods walking'.

Steve Passey purchased this cabin in 2014

Why Steve Passey chose West Virginia

We named this property after a nearby trail, the Kaymoor Trail. The two parts of the trail together make for a vigorous hike - especially if you choose to take the 810 steps to the bottom of the mine (and then have to take that same 810 steps back up!).

As far as the location of the home, we've visited the area a number of times and love the small town of Fayetteville, white water rafting, zip-lining, and especially hiking - the fact that we can go for a hike by walking out our front door and be at an NPS trail is the best!

This house is great for 2 families, and this property is close to the white water rafting and zip-lining. And if jumping off a bridge is your thing, or if you want to just watch the other crazy people, you'll get a great view from the neighborhood overlook.

Enjoy the quite back yard, grill out, and eat on the spacious back deck.

What makes this cabin unique

Hiking trails in the neighborhood, designed for two families (basement to be finished, but we don't know when yet). Short drive to white water rafting & zip-lining. Watch bridge day from the neighborhood.

I can't wait to sit on the front porch and enjoy the nature and feeling like I'm in a treehouse.

I love to cook, so I'm working on getting all those little things to make the kitchen highly functional when you're away from yours. Haven't figured out how to get the kitchen to clean itself though.

The furniture is an eclectic mix. Some of the furniture is antique, and some we've made reusing wood palates - we hope you'll enjoy the rustic touches.

The perfect house for our WV getaway

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 5 of adults loved our week-long stay in Kaymoor House. The house was perfectly sized for us and great for entertaining local friends who came to visit for meals, games, and roasting s'mores over the fire pit. The house interior is clean, spacious, updated and nicely designed. There is a large and comfortable master bedroom suite downstairs (queen bed) and two bedrooms upstairs. Our son claimed the guest bedroom with the queen bed and our daughters slept in the bedroom with 4 bunk beds. They shared the large upstairs bathroom and, when needed, had the option of using the vanity in the guest bathroom downstairs. The kitchen is spacious and nicely stocked with items needed for daily cooking. I love the open shelving where we stored the food and items we brought with us. Walmart and other grocery are close if anything is needed. We enjoyed drinking our morning coffee in the rocking chairs on the big front porch. We also loved using the hot-tub after long days of whitewater adventuring! During the week we did two whitewater trips with Ace Adventure, spent a day boating on Summersville Lake, did the BridgeWalk, enjoyed some mountain biking, did a few hikes (one on a neighborhood trail), and dined at our favorite Fayetteville eateries.

Modern cabin close to Fayetteville WV

  • 5 of 5

A very nice modern cabin that is about 10 minutes from downtown Fayetteville WV. Good open layout in nice community. Hot tub is a bonus. Great central location for hiking and rafting.

Perfect, Secluded Fayetteville Retreat

  • 5 of 5

This home is tucked away in what is probably one of the more exclusive neighborhoods in Fayetteville. You're conveniently located near all of the necessary amenities, but still given plenty of privacy. The nearby trails make hikes to captivating views of the New River Gorge easy.

The house itself is in perfect condition and the owners are responsive. The hot tub & fire pit make for viable options for those who might not be so adventurous (or in the event of bad weather). There was wood available in the driveway for the fire pit.

There is an abundance of activities in the area, all between 10-30 minutes away. White water rafting, hiking, water parks, and paintball are just a few of the options. While I'd recommend this home and Fayetteville to anyone, this place best serves the interests of active people who aren't afraid to get a little dirty (or wet).

There are some great food/nightlife options in the area also. Rendezvous offered great live music. Pies and Pints was a great place to grab some food.

In terms of home quality and location, I'd rate this as one of the best experiences I've had while travelling (and I travel quite a bit).

Cheers,

Justin
