Watch the sunrise and sunset from this uniquely located private triplex. Tie up your boat directly behind the property on the sandbar or dockage and boat launch available across the street on the Bay side. Amazing sea life right at the beach, stingrays, puffer fish crabs, shark. Fish right from the shore. When tide is out you can walk hundreds of feet into the ocean on the sand bar. We also have two kayaks , a paddle board and a fire pit for you use
This unit accommodates 4 people with 1 King bed, I queen sleeper sofa, and a rollaway bed available. Rent with mirror image unit next door to accommodate 8.
This is the perfect spot in the Florida Keys. Very quiet and not far from the mainland yet also close enough to key west for day trips. The beach is amazing and the fishing in marathon is exceptional. Very special place.

This unit of the duplex is located right off the ocean side of Hwy 1. The water is literally right out the door - gorgeous view! There are several chairs and tables to enjoy the small beach there.
There are two parking spots under the building, one of which was occupied by Rhonda, the onsite caretaker, and one for guests. There is a gravel lot with more parking space on the highway side. The reason I mention this is that the spot under each unit one would presume is for the unit above but it's first come, first serve. We had to park our $60k Corvette convertible right next to the busy highway overnight while the other guests parked their Smart car rental under our unit. It made me uncomfortable to leave our car out there but there was nothing we could do without being jerks in the middle of the night. The area seemed very safe but there is SO much traffic. Our "neighbors" made a point of moving their car under our unit every opportunity possible anyway so I doubt they would've moved it. We'd leave and they'd quick move their car under our unit. They were from up north. Assigned parking maybe?
Highway noise was a non-issue because the fan in the bedroom easily drowned it out. You could really hear it outside by the beach but it didn't bother us at all. However, if you're looking for total peace and quiet, this isn't the right place for you.
The furnishings are very "Miami Vice" 80's style. I wonder where they found them. I got a kick out of it but I can see some people being turned off by the dated decor. Everything was very clean. The hot water heater only has enough hot water for one person to shower.
Overall this was a fine place to stay but I would look for something else if we ever come back unless the parking thing is worked out. A little updating wouldn't hurt either.
The apartment has everything you need to have a great vacation in the keys with a beautiful view of the water through the palm trees, feels very tropical. My only issue was with check in, we did not receive any specific instructions about how to locate the particular apartment, (there are 3 different dwellings on the property), there was no one there to greet us, (we later found out the caretaker was out on vacation), this left me wandering around the property knocking on doors, which was unsettling due to all the private property signs, finally I heard noises from the neighbor, knocked on her door and it turned out she had the key? There was no contact phone number for Andrew in any communication and I did not have e-mail capability with my cell phone so we were at wit's end by the time I stumbled upon the neighbor, this frustration quickly faded when we started settling in. LOCATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR FUTURE RENTERS: THIS IS THE UPSTAIRS UNIT FURTHEST FROM KEY WEST.

THAT'S THE POINT; THE PROPERTY OWNER PROVIDED THE WRONG ADDRESS AND I COULDN'T GET ANY HELP WHEN I CALLED VRBO. DON'T TRUST VRBO REMAINS MY MESSAGE. When I arrived at the address provided for the property (via email from the owner ) on June 11, 2016, I found a notice on the front door, " IMPORTANT We found this property to be vacant/abandoned on June 6, 2016. This information will be provided to the mortgage holder. The mortgage holder has the right and duty to protect this property." No one was around. I called VRBO and they could not locate my information based on my name, my email address, or the property address. While trying to figure out what to do next, the call was disconnected. What did I learn? Don't trust VRBO. I felt completely abandoned and regret this entire episode.
Clean, spacious, and airy are all words that can be used to describe this ocean front rental. However, it is the view from the property which takes center stage! The beach is practically private. The only other beach visitors are the many species of birds and the occasional beach lizard wandering by. The rental unit is very well stocked with all the necessary household supplies such as dishes, utensils, cleaning supplies, towels, etc. The furnishings are a bit dated, but very comfortable. The washer / dryer are outside. Parking is ample. The bedroom is large with a king bed, and plenty of closet and drawer space. Plenty of water flow in the shower. Rhonda, the very gracious on-site property manager, is very friendly and happy to assist should you need her help. Located between just south of Duck Key, this rental on Grassy Key is close to both the Upper and Lower Keys - a great spot to explore the area in search of our own Florida Keys home.
The best week in our life not just because of our honeymoon but where we spent it. Rhonda was awesome if you have a question about anything she can probably answer it. Very clean place. The amenities was all there only needed or clothes and food. The price was great location and everything. We will be back on our family vacation.
We knew from previous reviews what to expect, and this place did not disappoint in any way. We chose this rental because of it's proximity to family that live on Guava Ave across the street, so the location was perfect for us. But even if it weren't for that, this unit has a PHENOMENAL view. We weren't in the actual unit very much during our stay, but everything was clean and comfortable (although the sofa in the living room could probably stand to be replaced, it was still comfortable enough for sleeping!) Previous reviews are correct about the traffic noise, but it was nothing that ear plugs couldn't drown out. Rhonda who stays there on the property was very friendly and helpful, and it was nice to have someone close by in case we needed anything. We took the kayaks out briefly, but it was really too windy and rough for it to be much fun the day we tried it. By far the best part of this unit is the almost private beach and the view of the water - completely worth every penny. Coffee out on the beach every morning was heavenly. Thanks so much for a wonderful stay - we hope to be able to come back!!
