The kitchen has all the basic necessary amenities including a gas stove and oven, refrigerator, dishwasher, Keurig coffee maker, tea pot, toaster, pots and pans, cooking utensils, dishes and flatware. Living room opens to southern exposure dining room and sun-porch - perfect for enjoying your cup of coffee to start the day.

The master bedroom has a queen size bedroom set including linens, a roomy closet, and dresser. The second bedroom has a twin bed (including linens), a desk and dresser. There is a pull out couch in the living room should you want to accommodate two more people/children.

Other amenities: cable TV and convenient parking in front of the property (as well as driveway parking available).

Although no car is needed as you are only three blocks to Braddock Metro and six blocks to King Street Metro, walk to shops, restaurants and all the sights - from historic to hip.

King Street - the main street of Historic Old Town Alexandria is lined with unique shops, galleries, and restaurants. Take the (free) hop-on, hop-off trolley up and down King Street down to the river. Old Town is on the Potomac River and provides access to riverboat tours to Mt.Vernon Estate (George Washington's home)

The apartment is also in walking distance to the hip community of Del Ray which has interesting coffee shops, restaurants, shops, and Saturday farmers market. The farmers market, butcher and cheese shops mean that you can make your own meals in the full kitchen, too.

Or you can walk down the block to GRAPE + BEAN, Alexandria’s neighborhood destination for those who love great wine, beer, coffee and offers a lunch dining menu. There is also two restaurants, Lena's Stone Fired Pizzeria & Dos Amigos Mexican in walking distance. If you are travelling with children, there is a wonderful park only about four blocks away. Want to get around on bike? You can rent a bicycle with capital bike share, just at the end of the street.

About Dawn Luepke

Tim & I (Dawn) purchased this house in April 2014. We have rented in the area since our wedding rehearsal dinner six years ago and just fell in love with the quaintness of Del Ray, the waterfront of historic Old Town, and the easy access to Washington, D.C. so we are thrilled to be homeowners here. Tim grew up on a dairy farm in Wisconsin and loves to offer his Midwestern hospitality. After college he was a tour guide here for international students so he knows a lot of what D.C. has to offer - so feel free to ask for places to visit and how to get there. Together, we opened a kids consignment boutique in Del Ray in 2010 and love being a part of this community. We live on the first floor of this two-unit home so are available for any of your needs.

Why Dawn Luepke chose Alexandria

We loved the convenient location, front porch, and the beautiful tree-lined street in a neighborhood filled with quaint bungalow style houses with front porches. As a one-car family, Tim bikes 1 mile to work at the US Trade & Patent Office (which has a small museum that is open to the public).

What makes this apartment unique

Its a charming 1930's home complete with a glass front door, original moldings, door knobs, & old-school radiators. We are having a wood fence installed this spring to complete the charm.

Perfect location!!!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed 6 nights in June. My husband and I and our 19 & 12 year old sons. There are 2 bedrooms with the dayroom that we used for the third bedroom. There was an extra twin mattress that we put in there. We were all very comfortable. It felt more like we were staying in a friend's apartment, not a rental. Super cozy. Close to everything. The location is safe and everyone we ran into was super friendly!! Perfect location for touring around D.C. and the surrounding attractions. We parked are car in their driveway and took the Metro everywhere, which was within walking distance.

Charming and cozy rental

  • 5 of 5

A charming and cozy rental. We loved the location--close to the Metro, restaurants, and a short walk to King Street. The clean apartment offered nice space for our teen and preteen. It was a comfortable environment to come back to after a long day of sightseeing. Checking in and out with the owners was a breeze too!

Great location. Wonderful owners.

  • 4 of 5

Our stay here was exactly as expected and described by the owners. Lovely, quiet neighborhood with safe walking anywhere you want to go. Great location for accessing the Metro which was a simple 2-block, 5-minute walk which took us right by a 7-11 store for easy access to supplies as needed. Three great restaurants, 1 block and 2 blocks away in either direction. Historic house was accommodating for us and our 2 teenage grandkids, even though one of our grandkids had a knee injury before arriving and had to ascend the staircase to the upstairs unit we were staying in. Not a place for anyone who has difficulty ascending or descending stairs (not a criticism, just a suggestion to potential renters). One other plus is that there is plenty of parking on the front or side street (corner lot) and also available space at the house's driveway. Rental unit was quaint and could use a little upgrading, but clean and spacious. Nice kitchen which made it easy to cook our own breakfasts. Extra lightweight twin mattress in the second bedroom made it easy for us to split up our teenage grandkids of the opposite sex. Second mattress fit nicely in the dayroom area. My wife was particularly thankful for the tub/shower combination in the bathroom. It's proximity to old downtown area was also a plus since we ate out every night after our return from Washington DC touring. Would stay there again, which says it all. Thanks Dawn and Tim.

Close to Metro and a quiet friendly neighborhood

  • 5 of 5

It's a short 3 minute walk to Braddock Station making coming and going to the city very easy. Property is exactly as described but I was pleased to see how friendly the neighbors are...everyone comes out at night to walk their dogs and are quick to say hello and chat as they walk by. We prepared most of our meals there and had groceries delivered from the local market...super easy. I could live in Alexandria full time . Great trip.

We had a wonderful time!!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay in Alexandria!! Dawn and Tim could not have been nicer. The location was wonderful so nice to be able to walk to and from Metro, and close to a couple of good restaurants near by. The home had all the essentials needed and the well stocked Kerig coffee maker was a nice surprise! I would definitely recommend this home and would stay here again if I were visiting the Washington DC area again.

There are two restaurants & a small wine bar in walking distance - just two down the block. There is also a tennis court at end of the street if you want to bring your racket. And there is the Bike Share program with bike rentals if you'd like to get around that way. Of course the metro is only steps away too.
