Photos and Description of this 3 bedroom holiday cabin in Dubois - Bearitage

Wilderness cabin at Brooks Lake - reserve your week now - limited availability

2 BR/1 BA + enclosed bunk room/sun porch.....Original cabin built by the Scandinavian Tiehacks in the early 1940's during the timber/logging operations for the early railroads. It is one of the few in the area with indoor plumbing and electricity (the original outhouse is still outside). It has been updated with modern conveniences and all the comforts of home. The kitchen still has the original cast iron/wood cookstove (along with a newer gas stove for your convenience). The river rock fireplace in the center of the cabin was built with local materials and even has a piece of petrified wood. The large deck is perfect for grilling fresh caught trout in the stream that runs along the side of the cabin or 2 miles up the road in Brooks Lake. There are 2 queen bedrooms, a sun porch with 2 twins and a double sleeper sofa in the den to accommodate up to 8. Enjoy wildlife sightings - not a day goes by that we don't see moose, elk, deer or a bear. Enjoy smores around the campfire by the stream (but make sure to douse it with buckets of water before retiring for the evening). The cabin is located inside the Shoshone National Forest (the nation's 1st national forest) so grab your trail maps and explore the hundreds of miles of trails by foot, XC skis, snowshoe, atv, snowmobile or auto. Always carry your fishing rod/tackle when you can as there are hundreds of hidden mountain lakes just waiting for you to wet your hook. Firewood is stacked for your use (try your hand at rustic living by splitting more to replace what you use.....many thanks!) This cabin is only available a few weeks each year as allowed by the National Forest Regulations so inquire early and be one of the select few to enjoy it!!

About Ree Beavers

We are an adventure loving family from Georgia who fell in love with the great state of Wyoming in 2006. After repeated trips out each year we stumbled upon this little gem tucked away in the Shoshone National Forest. We vacationed here for a few years and fell in love with the town of Dubois. We relocated from Georgia in May 2015 so that we can enjoy the beauty of the area year round. We hope you enjoy the rest and relaxation as much as we do! If so, I'd be happy to help you find your own little slice of Heaven: Ree Beavers, Tim Rogers Real Estate Services, Inc., 678.300.5876

Why Ree Beavers chose Wyoming

This cabin is so secluded. The peace and quiet is perfect for those wanting to get away from it all - to forget about the cares of the world for the days that you are here. I like to grab my groceries in Jackson (or Lander if flying in by way of Denver) and then stay for the week without leaving:) However, the cabin is perfectly located for day trips to Jackson, Yellowstone or Grand Teton National Park. It is also only 20 miles from the quaint western town of Dubois (voted one of the best towns to raise a family). The Friday night rodeo is a must during the summer months and the petroglyphs carved into the cliffs/boulders just east of town by the Sheep Eater Indians thousands of years ago makes for a fun day of exploration by kids and history buffs alike. Located right at the edge of the Wind River Indian Reservation a casino is a local attraction for those who think they have a little luck:)

What makes this cabin unique

Original historic cabin located on a trout stream in the middle of the Shoshone National Forest (very few cabins or homes are located inside the National Forest). The cabin has authentic western charm (not a shiny, new 'kit' log home) but with the modern conveniences of Directv, unlimited local/long distance phone service, a booster for Verizon cell phone users and wifi for those that have to do a little work while hibernating.

Lovely cabin, quiet site

  • 5 of 5

The accommodations were even nicer than expected-plenty of room for a party of 5. We wanted to show our two European guests the wild west and the moose that walked by the kitchen window provided a nice show one morning! I love to relax and cook on vacation and the kitchen provided lots of room for my creativity! Although there is no indoor dining table, the couch and tray tables worked just fine for dinner. We utilized the outdoor patio table at lunch. We took advantage of the DVDs a few times, which was nice to have, and found the game cabinet the day we were leaving. Enjoyed the rodeo in town on Friday night. It was a lovely stay, very relaxing. I highly recommend the cabin and would love to stay again if we are ever in the area.

Owner's Response: We ;are so happy you enjoyed your stay! We treasure our time at the cabin and love it that others do as well. The peace and tranquility, along with the abundant wildlife, make it a magical place. So happy you got to see our "resident" moose and that you attended the local rodeo. Dubois is a hidden gem and we're happy that you found us. We look forward to your return visit!

Cabin in the woods

  • 5 of 5

My husband, two sons, and I enjoyed the cabin while we visited the Yellowstone area. We couldn't have been more happy. The cabin was cozy and quaint and had everything we needed to relax and enjoy the area. We visited the local sites during the day and came back for evening meals, to fish in the back yard or up the road, or to sit on the back deck to enjoy the beautiful surroundings. We got to see moose, deer, and even a porcupine! while at the cabin. The owner was very helpful and eager to recommend sites to see, good fishing spots, all to ensure we had a great stay.

Owner's Response: We were so happy to have your family stay with us! We consider you friends and family. The pics you sent of the boys and the fish they caught is what it's all about and we're happy that you got to see "Murphy", our resident moose. Thanks for stopping by my office and saying hi - it's so nice to get to meet our guests. We do hope you'll return again and again! We'll be waiting for you:)

The Georgia Gang

  • 5 of 5

This was a wonderful, beautiful, peaceful, healing trip for all 6 of us. The cabin and the location was a perfect spot not only for family bonding, but in a perfect location to visit the Tetons and Yellowstone. Dubois is a small, quaint little town with as much personality and friendliness as any "Southern Hospitality" could ever muster. We saw every critter imaginable, had our first Fly Fishing experience and rode horses till our backsides hurt. What else could you ask for in a vacation ! ? ! I highly recommend this cabin. The owners were as knowledgeable, helpful, and ALWAYS willing to answer my many questions as anyone could possibly be. IT WAS ALL WONDERFUL !

An amazing get away

  • 5 of 5

The cabin is darling, clean, and very comfortable---not to mention its ideal setting in a peaceful meadow above a trout stream. We enjoyed wildlife, a trail ride, fishing, hiking, photography, stargazing, and a rodeo. The owners were wonderful about making us feel right at home. It could not have been a better week, and we hope to return sometime soon. Finally, when my two boys were asked about their favorite part of the trip, they each said, "The whole cabin-thing," indicating they loved the property as much as their mom and dad did!

Wonderful secluded location!!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful, wonderful vacation at this cabin. The location is perfect! It is secluded in the Shoshone forest yet right on Brooks Creek, close to Brooks Lake and Brooks Fall, not far from DuBois, Jackson or Yellowstone. It was a great central spot to take off from in addition to simply a great place to just stay in and relax. The wildlife was nice to see and it was all very peaceful and quiet. We would go back at the drop of a hat! My only desire would be to have a set of solid TV tray tables or something since there is no indoor eating table. Every other amenity was certainly available and made it a very comfortable stay.

Owner's Response: It makes me so happy when guests enjoy the cabin as much as we do! Kinda hard to not enjoy every minute of it, huh? When we first saw it we knew it was the place for us - made our hearts sing:) Thanks for your input - in addition to the large coffee table (casual eating) we've added your recommended tv trays (4). Summer meals can also be enjoyed on the deck at the dining table that seats 6. We've also added another twin bed to the sunroom to accomodate 7 people now and we're looking at adding a table in the sunroom for dining during colder months (if we can squeeze it in). We do hope you'll return again and we hope to one day meet you.
