My husband and I went to school in Adair Co KY but it wasn't until years later that we found each other. We got married in June 2010. We have 6 children and 2 grandchildren with one more on the way. We currently live in White House TN
Barry and Tanna Vance purchased this lodge in 2005
This was my husbands dream home. It took 11 months to build and he used several trees from the property for the building material. One of the bedrooms is completely cedar as well as the stairs going up to the bedrooms. He used actual tree trunks as supports for the landing and for the fireplace mantel.
stone, wood burning fireplace, 22 ft ceiling in the great room, exquisite sunset while sitting on the back porch or relaxing by the pool. A very tranquil, peaceful place to come and relax! I'm sure you will love being here as much as we do!
The cabin was comfortable for all four families, 10 kids and 8 adults. The location is in the country and it has a very relaxing atmosphere. Lots of privacy! The kids loved the pool in the backyard even though the water is a bit chilly this time of year. The grill was a nice resource for a couple of our meals. The kitchen/living room had plenty of space. The large dinning table was a big hit for the kids, all getting to set together. Barry was very friendly and easy to work with on the dates. We will come back, hopefully in warmer weather.
We rented this house in July 2016 for a family get together. There were 14 of us and we never felt crowded. The kids loved the pool and all the property to play on. Barry was fantastic with any questions we had and responded right away when I left a message. The house was clean and stocked with plenty of towels. I would not hesitate to recommend this house to others.
Our family of eight adults and four children enjoyed a wonderful Christmas at Lucas Lodge last year. The country location is perfect if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle. The home is at the end of a long driveway and there's nothing around it but quiet. Inside, the house is warm and rustic, complete with all wood trim and beams from the surrounding property.
When we arrived a Christmas tree was set up and the home was clean and ready for visitors. There was ample room for us and everyone had plenty of space to spread out, play games, watch TV or walk or run on the property. The owners even had the fridge stocked with bottled water when we arrived! If I had to be picky, some trash had blown up into the backyard near the pool that needed to be picked up and there was a leaky pipe in the upstairs bathroom sink, but neither of those were issues that affected our stay.
Barren River Lake State Park is less than five minutes away for all outdoor activity like golf, hiking, running and many other activities. Glasgow is close for any supplies that you need or restaurants that you want. Highly recommend this cabin!
My husband and I got married at this beautiful cabin this past summer. It was truly my dream wedding because this location was absolutely breath taking. There's a huge pond out front with tons of koi fish that we got married in front of. There was plenty of room for our 200+ guests. We had our reception out back around the pool and had plenty of room in the yard to set up tables and a dance floor. The view and sunset from this cabin are remarkably beautiful. It is a secluded area, but not too far from town. The cabin itself is a work of art. The owners are the nicest people and were willing to help us with anything and everything we needed to prepare for the big day. I'd recommend this cabin for any type of gathering or getaway you could imagine. You truly couldn't go wrong with this beautiful place.
Our large group had a great time here. The cabin is very large, with quiet, comfortable bedrooms and plenty of gathering places. The living room was great for lounging around to watch a game or movie, the dining table Is large enough to seat everyone for dinner or for card games, and we especially enjoyed the big open field out back, which was great for star-gazing. Proximity to the Barren River State Park's playgrounds, hiking trails and golf course is also a plus. The owner was easy to work with and went out of his way to make us welcome. We'd love to come back and enjoy the pool some summer!
We had 10 women for a girl's golf weekend at Barren State Park. Rather than book the cabins at the park again this year, we took a chance and rented this house. Turns out it was an excellent choice. The girls were very happy with the accommodations and loved the pool (even though it was pretty cold this time of year). You can tell a lot about this place from the pictures, so I will tell you about things that are not visible. Tanna and Berry Vance were easy to work with and responded quickly to any questions. The house was very clean. The kitchen was well equipped, the dishes and glassware looked brand new. There were no pest issues which was especially important with a house full of women. The beds were very comfortable. Sheets, towels, bedspreads, pillows and blankets were in great condition. Some cabins I have rented in the past had acoustic problems due to the wood construction and lack of soft surfaces. This cabin was really quiet even with 10 women, not even a squeaky floor. I have already recommended this house to others and I expect to bring a couple of different groups back next year.
30 minutes to Bowling Green Ky , 15 minutes to Glasgow Ky, 15 minutes to Scottsville Ky, 35 minutes to Mammoth Cave National Park and 80 miles to Nashville Tn.
When you turn right from Hwy 87 onto R Whitlow road you will be on a blacktop road. There will be a mailbox on your right with 313 on it and a gravel road going to the right. Follow the gravel road. The location of the house is at the end of the gravel road, not the middle as shown on the map.
