Overview

About the property

Fabulous location in the 6th district, one block from the Seine

This lovely one bedroom apartment has been redone to high standards. As it is small, we wanted to create a cozy, romantic, Parisian atmosphere. We've used stripes, warm colors and natural materials such as granit and hardwood floors to create a classic, romantic effect.

Enter the building using the door code and go past the mailboxes through the long hallway with exposed stone walls. The gate at the end of the hallways also opens with a code. Go through the gate and the apartment is the first one on the left. Facing you as you enter the apartment is the striped burgundy colored salon with two comfortable armchairs, a small coffee table, a lighted niche with books, a closet and a portmanteau for hanging.

To the left of the entrance is the fully-equipped kitchen with a granit worktop, an eating area at the end, a refrigerator, combination washer-dryer, small oven, microwave, stovetop, and dishwasher. We've recalled the burgundy color theme with the kitchen cabinets. As we love coffee, you have two choices: the Bodum French Press or the Nespresso maker. There is also a tea kettle. The kitchen is stocked with some basic items for your use: salt, pepper, coffee, sugar, tea, oil and vinegar. There is also high quality Brabantia cookware (which you may not need to use much given the almost overwhelming choice of restaurants in the area!).

Across from the kitchen is the bathroom tiled floor to ceiling with extra large square tiles to create a sense of space and harmony. There is a state of the art, aesthetic water heater (details are important!), Duravit sink and WC, and a large Italian tiled shower with a thermostatic tap. The bathroom was designed for maximum comfort in a small space.

To the left of the living room is the bedroom, the largest room in the apartment. Lighter stripes decorate the walls, and the high wrought iron English bed fits perfectly into the space. We also chose this bed so that you'd have space to store your luggage underneath.

We've also included a small English antique commode and a comfortable two-seater sofa if you'd like a second relaxation area. There is cable TV and Wifi of course, and the bedroom looks out onto a bright courtyard. The thick cotton curtains block out the light even though there isn't much at night, given the fact that the apartment is situated between two courtyards.

The atmosphere of the building is quite friendly and the neighborhood is fantastic. We'll leave a detailed apartment guide in the property, but we'd like to mention the fact that you are really in the heart of “everything”. If you turn left and then right at the end of the street, you find yourself on the rue Guenegaud next to The Seine. Cross over the Pont Neuf bridge and you're on the Right Bank. You're also a few blocks away from the Institut de France, the dome of which you can see when you walk out of the building. We could go on and on about the location.

If you turn right when leaving the apartment and go to the end of the street, you will find yourself on the famous rue de Buci with it's open air market, cafes, shops and such a lively atmosphere of what we call “Le Vieux Paris”. You can also head up a few more meters and hit the Boulevard St. Germain with its cinemas, shops and people-watching cafes..... Continue from there either straight to the chic St. Sulpice area or turn left instead and head towards St. Michel... The possibilities are endless.

We hope to welcome you to our apartment soon!

Perfect for our 2nd Honeymoon

  • 5 of 5

We had the pleasure of staying here for 5 days during our 2nd Honeymoon. The location is phenomenal. You are literally a minute's walk to great cafes, restaurants, and shops. You within walking distance to convenient metro stops that have direct access to the "must see" places of Paris.

The flat is perfect for two people. Great shower with modern updates. Great kitchen with all the modern conveniences, including a Nespresso machine. We cooked breakfast each day, which gave us the feeling of truly living in Paris. It's set off the street, so its very quiet, yet you walk out into a very energetic district in Paris.

The owner was great to work with. She was responsive and helpful. A host met us to get us all settled in and address any of the questions that we had. I'm so glad we went this route instead of staying in a hotel!

Cozy, convenient and well-equipped

  • 4 of 5

Make no mistake, this is a very small apartment. It was just fine for us, though, because we only travel with carry-on luggage and don’t need a lot of space. And it’s in such a convenient location and so well-equipped that the size didn’t really matter that much. We loved it.

Stacey was extremely helpful and her English was much better than our French, so we were able to communicate easily.

Regarding the location, it’s in the sixth, only a few minutes’ walk from both the Pont Neuf and the lively Rue Buci. We have stayed in this area before and really love it. The apartment is in a courtyard (as many are in this area), so it’s very quiet, even though the hustle and bustle is just minutes away.

The shower is comfortably large and the bathroom includes a heated towel rack, which is always a welcome addition.

The small kitchen area includes a dish washer and (best of all) a washer-dryer. These can be a challenge if you’re not familiar with how some European washer-dryer combinations work, but we found that just putting everying on program 13 and setting the dryer to “ready to hang” (indicated by a little hanger icon) did the trick. If your French is up to it, there’s also an owner’s manual for the unit. There are also a small refrigerator and two coffee makers: a traditional “French press” unit and a Neopresso-style automatic unit that uses coffee capsules (a wide variety of which are available at the Carrefour over on Rue de Buci). Both work fine. The kitchen includes all the utensils, plates, and cups you are likely to need.

There is a heater (which we didn’t need) but no air conditioning, which might be an issue during the summer. You can open the windows and get some ventilation and, of course, the fact that threre is no direct sunlight means that it stays cooler in the courtyard that it does outside, but I think the owner might want to invest in a dehumidifier since we found it to be a bit more humid than we prefer. We were comfortable enough, but clothes didn’t dry as quickly as they would in a dryer environment. That’s a very minor issue, though.

The very comfortable bed is also tucked into an alcove, so whoever sleeps on the wall side needs to climb over whoever is sleeping on the other side to get to the bathroom at night.

This is an excellent apartment for the price and we will seriously consider it for our next trip to Paris.

Location, location, location

  • 5 of 5

This apartment had everything: location, comfortable bed, washer dryer, complete kitchen, full bath. It was all there. We stepped out the door into the middle of Paris with fabulous restaraunts, shopping, cafes within just a few steps. We highly recommend staying here.

Beautiful, cozy, in a great location

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay very much -- our greeter, Valerie, was lovely and helped us feel right at home. And Stacey was very responsive and helpful as well. It's a tiny, lovely space with everything we needed to enjoy our stay.

Small apartment but that's normal for Paris !

  • 5 of 5

This is a small apartment but it had everything I needed. It's really beautiful and cozy... loved the colors! It's a terrific location with many restaurants and shops nearby. I hope to get back there again someday. Valerie was very helpful and friendly. She was very conscientious about everything so that my stay would be comfortable.

Location

Car: not necessary

In the heart of St. Germain des Pres, one block from the Seine river and famous restaurants and cafes. One block from the rue de Buci. Walk to the Pont Neuf and the Right Bank in 5 minutes. A mythical, wonderful location in the heart of the 6th district.
