Why Candus Suppelsa chose Flathead Lake

We searched all over the state of Montana for property but when we saw the view of this home on the cover of Home Seekers magazine in 1994 we were awestruck. We have loved every minute of every season in this beautiful home while we vacationed with our two children.

What makes this house unique

The Echo Lake Retreat is very unique as it is situated on a peninsula with water (and swimming docks) on either side of the property. If you are looking for shade or sun you can find it. The view of the mountains constantly changes throughout the day which is spectacular.

Fantastic home on Echo Lake

  • 5 of 5

This is our 2nd year in a row that we have stayed at this wonderful home on Echo lake with our family. The setting could not be more perfect, and Candus has done a beautiful job decorating it perfectly. We loved having our boat tied up at the dock ready for all of our water activities, and all the extra toys, life jackets, kayaks and canoes that were provided were enjoyed by all. We did do some hiking, huckleberry picking, and floating down the Swan River, but mostly stayed at the house enjoying having our family together, the water activities, views, evening barbeques and beautiful sunsets. We can't wait to return. This is our favorite house and lake in Montana. I would give it 10 stars if I could.

Better than I imagined! Cannot wait to return!

  • 5 of 5

I cannot say enough how happy we were with our stay at Echo Lake Retreat! The views are unreal, always changing, & we never tired of being on the porch admiring them. The home was equipped with everything we needed plus more! We had plenty of space for the 5 of us, clean, comfortable beds, nice linens & towels. The kitchen is well stocked, no need to buy extras at the store. The kayaks, & canoe was a hit, & so convenient to have on hand. We enjoyed exploring the lake, fishing, sunrises & sunsets all right at the home when we were not out exploring Jewel Basin (which is not far) & the little village of Big Fork, Glacier Park, Whitefish, and visiting family in neighboring areas. Truly right on the water with two docks, one with amazing sunsets on rear of home, & the front dock for breathtaking mountain views of the Swan Range. The home was very convenient to most everything we wanted to do. Probably too convenient to huckleberry ice-cream!! I did not want to leave! Thank you Candus for such a lovely home to experience Montana! The Butler's

Perfect view. Quiet location. Wonderful place to relax.

  • 5 of 5

We loved our week-long stay on Echo Lake!! Candus was very helpful and provided a smooth rental process. The location and view are super - even better than the photos! The home was very comfortable, well cared for , and all the essentials were well-stocked. We enjoyed fishing from the dock, paddling around the lake with kayaks and canoes and exploring the Glacier National Park area. On the deck, we had many meals and hours of relaxing and soaking in the view. We also enjoyed daily games of lake-fetching with the neighbor dog, Max. If we return to the area, we will definitely look into renting this home again!!

We visited in late May, during the 'off-season' and had perfect weather, and little crowds/traffic.

Side note, unrelated to the home - a number of the roads we wanted to travel (in GNP, to Jewel Basin, etc.) are unpaved - and specifically prohibited by some rental car companies. A detail I didn't consider before making plans.

Amazing place, amazing views, amazing time.

  • 5 of 5

My family and I spent the first week of May, 2017 here and I cannot say enough what a wonderful time we had staying here. The place was incredibly clean, well maintained, organized, and just amazingly beautiful. If you are thinking of coming to Northern Montana and need one of the best places to stay, look no further than this gem on Echo Lake. I cannot say enough how wonderful our stay here had been.

From the minute we drove up to the day we left, my family couldn't stop talking about the beautiful views, the beautiful lake, and a house full of everything you could imagine for a week on the lake. Candus has thought of everything for a family adventure at the lake - kayaks, a canoe, water toys, beach chairs, life jackets, games, you name it, Candus had it available.

Every day the family woke up to coffee and breakfast on the deck overlooking the lake and mountains and ended the day playing games (they even provide a gaming table) watching the sunsets. The house is perfectly located for all sorts of day trips to Glacier, Whitefish, Flathead Lake, and Swan Lake where we went horse back riding. With this perfect location, you can easily complete your day adventures hiking in Glacier and still have time to end the day floating around the lake in Kayaks, BBQing on the deck, or just sitting on the docks enjoying the views. It doesn't get any better for a relaxing vacation than Echo Lake.

My family cannot wait to come back and do this again! It truly was an amazing place and with all the love and attention Candus has put into this house, you will have an amazing time and never want to leave.

Perfect home to escape and relax!

  • 5 of 5

Working with Candus on renting her beautiful home has been wonderful. Her communications and attention to details made this a stress free vacation rental. As the weather was not cooperative during our stay, we were very grateful for a home that is very comfortable and fully equipped with everything we needed. The view while relaxing at the house is beautiful.

The little welcome gift bag, was such a special little touch. The binder full of all local info and maps were very useful.

The location is great. Easy, beautiful drive to Glacier National Park. We did enjoy the cute town of Big Fork and enjoyed some shopping in Whitefish.

Thank you Candus for sharing your special home with us.

Special House on Echo Lake

  • 5 of 5

I loved touring the lake from the kayaks and canoe. Took kayak out almost everyday during visit, and got amazing photos. Went to Glacier NP several days and it did not disappoint. Spectacular scenery in park. Wish we had more time there. Encountered mountain goats and bighorn sheep (thankfully, no bears). Bigfork is a nice little town. The grocery store is close and well equipped.
