CHALET ETALE - LA CLUSAZ

Chalet Etale is a large 4 stars, 10 person, traditional chalet in the heart of the Manigod valley - part of the La Clusaz Grand Bornand ski area. The chalet is semi-detached and can be rented in conjunction with Chalet Tournette (the other half of the building) to provide accommodation for up to 20 people. Each chalet is acoustically isolated from the other, has its own dedicated parking, separate entrance and terrace.

WHAT MAKES CHALET ETALE SO SPECIAL? You’ll appreciate the 4 star comfort and warmth of Chalet Etale when you return to it after an energetic day in the mountains. The door opens straight in to the fabulous farmhouse kitchen, with a range-style double oven and a huge pine table, where everybody can get together for a fondue or a raclette and discuss the highlights of the day. In good weather, there’s a large covered terrace with a big dining table, so you can all eat al fresco. After dinner, retire to the cosy living room, with its woodburning stove, to continue the conversation, or the separate TV room - there’s a place for everyone. On a clear night, you’ll love to sit out on the large south-facing balcony and watch for shooting stars, perhaps before heading downstairs for a sauna to ease aching limbs.

About STRANG Marjo

Our first visit to the Manigod/ La Clusaz area, was 18 years ago when we came to spend a summer holiday beside beautiful lake Annecy. We not only wanted to enjoy the lake but also to walk in the surrounding mountains. That’s why we went to Manigod and La Clusaz, and discovered that it wasn’t only the lake that was fantastic but also this beautiful valley nestled in the heart of the French Alps. There was definitely something special about the area, something of “old Europe”, meaning no high-rise buildings, only lovely wooden chalets. This was exactly the kind of ski resort we were looking for, the kind you don’t come across very often these days. This was the perfect place for us!

Why STRANG Marjo chose Aravis ski area

That is how we immediately fell in love with this part of the Aravis mountainrange. We decided that the area was a fantastic place to invest in a second home where we could spend winter and summer holidays alike.

We were lucky enough to find a lovely chalet near Thônes. But as our family grew bigger, with friends of our children often joining in, we decided after 7 years to sell our first chalet and finally found our current chalet “Le Méridien”. We knew by now that this was the ideal area for us, for summer and ski seasons alike. The Méridien was exactly the kind of chalet we had in mind with traditional features, wooden beams, open fire etc. First we worked on the downstairs apartment , which is now called “Chalet L’Etale” and later we converted the attic to make the the upstairs apartment, “Chalet Tournette”.

What makes this apartment unique

As half of our family are snowboarders and the rest skiers, our favourite ski area is “Croix Fry” (Manigod). From there we often leave on a daytrip on the slopes, meeting up later at “Chez Fon Fon” , a lovely little cafe/ restaurant on the slopes where we can warm up around traditional dishes like fondue and raclette. The view over the mountains from Merdassier and Croix Fry is absolutely breathtaking. The ski bus is about 100 meters away from the chalet, which is quite convenient if one of us wants to leave or come back earlier. We have had so many memorable holidays here, specially now that both apartments are finished: it means we can easily accommodate up to 20+ people without feeling crammed up. We love to have walks from the chalet into the mountains, whether it is in summer or in wintertime, before gathering together and sharing dinner and stories sitting at the long table together.

In summer we love to go swimming in the lake Annecy, the cleanest lake in Europe. We enjoy sailing as well which allows us to take a dip in the middle of the lake, far from the crowd, before stopping for a meal in one of the restaurants on the lake’s shore. Our favourite is Restaurant “ La Guinguette”, just outside Talloires, with its old fashioned and has a romantic atmosphere. In a few words, Manigod is just the right hideaway for our family to get away from our busy daily life. We hope you’ll enjoy it just as much as we do.

Un chalet adorable - tellement authentique!

Une vallée magnifique et une météo clémente. Nous avons pu marcher tous les jours et explorer Merdassier, Soulens, Tournette... Une réussite.

Le chalet de nos rêves!

Un vrai repaire de montagnard, l'équipement et le confort en plus. Très très beau chalet aux vues spectaculaires, dans une vallée que nous ne connaissions pas. Joli mobilier rustique, formidable cuisine avec sa cuisinière d'époque. Des tas de petits recoins qui ont fasciné les enfants. Très près des commerces du Manigod village. On conseille la piscine de La Clusaz et une visite d'Annecy, à 25 minutes de là.

Magnifique chalet au coeur des montagnes

Chalet très accueillant et ultra confortable dans un décor naturel enchanteur. Avec sa déco impeccable et son atmosphère cosy, nous avons passé entre amis un vrai week-end de Noël avant l'heure. Tout le monde a beaucoup apprécié le sauna!!! L'accès au chalet est aisé et la propriété est bien placée pour le ravitaillement, les ballades, les sorties et autres activités. Nous pensons sérieusement revenir cette hiver pour profiter des pistes toutes proches. Encore un grand merci pour cette location inespérée de dernière minute!
