We are happy to share our knowledge about where to go and what to do while on the Big Island.
Cathy and Jeff Dale love the Big Island and are excited to share this wondrous place with you. Born and raised in Hilo, Cathy has returned to live here after 25 years in Northern California. Jeff fell in love with Hawaii on the first of many visits from California and is fulfilling a life long dream to live here full-time.
Cathy and Jeff Dale purchased this studio in 2013
Enjoy a piece of Hawai'i in a special corner of the Big Island of Hawai'i without breaking the bank. We love our old style island home and are excited to share it with others wanting to experience the beauty of the Big Island.
This home was built in 1938 by Cathy's grandparents. The 'Ohana was originally built as an artists studio. The studio is part of a 1 acre property with extensive beautiful landscaping including fruit trees, tropical plants and flowers. We hope you will visit our little piece of paradise.
Cathy and Jeff were very welcoming and helpful. The studio is cute and comfortable, even in rainy weather.
The property was always very neat and well manicured. The inside was very neat and clean. The owners were extremely cordial and helpful. The suite was equipped with everything we needed. We feel that it would look nicer and homey if they would put valences on the large windows. We would definitely stay here the next time we are in Hilo. Thank you very much.
Overall great experience. This place had everything you need and is conveniently located for any adventures on the "wet" side of the island. By the way we got lucky I guess since it was mostly sunny during our entire visit! We enjoyed experiencing the jungle like surroundings while also being close to shops and things if we needed anything. The ocean is also just a short walk away with great snorkeling!
We had an amazing stay!!! Truly like sleeping in a Rainforest. Located right across the street and walking distance to some of the best beaches in Hilo, this studio is well appointed, clean and surprisingly spacious. It had everything we needed. We really appreciated the short 30-40 minute drive back after spending the day at Volcano National Park. Great base for exploring all that this side of the Big Island has to offer. The owners Cathy and Jeff are fantastic hosts. We highly recommend this as a place to stay, and hope that it will be available for our next visit to Hilo. Mahalo Cathy and Jeff!
We were very happy to stay here at the studio while visiting Hawaii. Cathy was very nice hostess, with many homey touches - coffee, juice, and use of many water sport items.
Good to know: no air conditioning, very loud frogs all night.
But still very comfortable and a convenient location in Hilo.
We would stay here again.
Cathy was a great host and her place is just as pictured. The place was very clean. I appreciated that lots of the items like towels and sheets were white. The bed was comfortable. There are loud frogs at night but my husband and I did not mind. Earplugs were provided in the bathroom without asking. Goodies were also provided which was much appreciated. The decor and ambiance surrounding the house was just what we were looking for. We highly recommend.
