Awesome 3 bedroom house close to Hudson River, Catskill Mountains, Thruway. 2 acre lot with beautiful views. Short drive to mountains and entertaiment. Ten minute drive to Hudson? This home is on a quite country road. Enjoy peaceful afternoon cookouts. Fish the Roe-Jan creek and Hudson River. Hardwood floors, direct TV, stereo system, washer and dryer, WI-FI. Home is very well maintained and clean. Zip line at Hunter Mountain or ski in the winter. Watch eagles soar through the valley and wild turkeys roam the yard.
Very familiar with the area.
John Muirhead purchased this house in 2010
Perfect location in beautiful Hudson Valley. WI-FI, Direct TV, Hiking, Fishing.
View, privacy, close to entertainment and train station.
Very comfortable and cozy - very well appointed with all the comforts of home. The home was clean and well-maintained and John was accessible, although we had no need to contact him as everything worked out perfectly. Convenient location to enjoy many of the features of the Hudson Valley. We would definitely stay again.
The house was well stocked with a variety of food. It was great to have access to a washer and drier. All the kitchen appliances are new in a nice open kitchen. Our favorite part was the beautiful view from the back yard. We slept 6 people very comfortably. The owner was incredibly responsive with all our questions. Great stay.
My wife and I (and little dog) had a very enjoyable long weekend at Sturgeon House at the end of January.
The house is well-kept, clean, warm, comfortable and very convenient to both Germantown and Hudson. The lady caretaker happened to pass by whilst we were outside and she is really, really helpful. There are very good restaurant choices nearby and the house has full details of these and other local attractions. Don't miss a visit to Olana as the home of the Hudson River School of painting - it's spectacular and a short distance by car.
Bard campus is also near and is well worth a visit. Even better, in our view, is the Clermont Estate (historic site) and within it is Livingston Manor which dates from 1740 and was the home of Robert R. Livingston who served on the committee that drafted the Declaration of Independence.
There's lots to see/visit in the area and the house is a very good base.
Very nice clean and simple home in pretty and quiet location. Has many amenities.
The Sturgeon House was a perfect getaway for my family. The home is located on a quite country road with magnificent views, lots of privacy. We saw eagles and deer on a regular basis. The yard is huge with a fire pit and horseshoes. The kitchen had everything I needed to cook meals although we used the BBQ on most nights. Most of our vegetables and fruits we bought at local roadside shops. The house was very clean and cozy. We liked that it had WI-FI and cable TV. We visited Olana down the street and hiked the Catskills. John was always prompt in getting back to us to answer any of our questions. I would highly recommend this property if your looking for a country getaway.
This little gem is a peaceful getaway nestled between the Hudson River and a fantastic fishing creek. Although we didn't, we heard tubing down the creek is a ton of fun! I spent my mornings fishing for bass and trout in a spot suggested kindly by John, the owner. John was so helpful and checked in with us via text throughout our stay.
We were beyond thrilled to have found a place that allowed our two Labs, Bailey and Kahlua, to stay with us! Our 8 year old little girl highly recommends this place as well!
