The kitchen is fully equipped or alternatively you could select the cuisine from the various restaurants around the beach and harbour areas which are 3 mins walk away. The apartment has a double bedroom, a twin bedroom and an inflatable double bed for the lounge area if required. It has a modern feel and a well equipped kitchen containing a full oven, hob, fridge, drinks fridge, toaster, coffee machine etc. The terrace is 60m2 and the views are simply stunning.
We regularly update the facilities and 2016 provides a new shower cubicle, and new fridge. Last year we added Wifi, a new sofa and new terrace furniture.
There are several restaurants in Pjescana Uvala, for all prices. Previous guests have chartered a yacht from the marina, enjoyed walking, sightseeing and some a good book and a glass of wine on the terrace! It's the location of this apartment which makes it special ! Pjescana Uvala is beautiful and possibly the best area of Pula. You will always love the view.
The apartment is in Istria and this is a very special part of Croatia. This is because there is so much to see and do, within a very close area. Pula has stunning Roman antiquities as well as some lovely pebble beaches. The area of Cape Kamenjak is an area of outstanding natural beauty. Wonderful views, walks, beaches including the Safari Bar - well known place to grab lunch in among the shade of the sea grass. Rovinj, Porec and Vrsar are all about 30 - 45 minute drive. Each 3 are stunning harbour towns with cobbled streets cascading down from Bell Towers to Marinas. Plenty of shops in Rovinj and Porec. Vrsar is particularly beautiful around the Bell Tower and Church with views over the coast and islands. Vrsar has a sculpture park.
A trip to Brijuni Islands is a memorable trip. It's a boat trip from Fazana (20 minutes from Pula). The islands are beautiful and were once the home of President Tito. There is a very interesting museum showing his life history.
Novigrad is a lovely coastal town with restaurants and a marina and harbour. It also has a new water park which has recently opened if you like water slides! It is a 50 -60 minute drive from the apartment.
The east coast of Istria stretches all the way from Pula to Opatija. Labin is about a 40 minute drive. It's another lovely town with another Bell Tower and cobbled streets. It is home to many artists who have galleries. There is a sculpture park just outside town. On the coast below Labin is Rabac. This town has lovely small coves and a harbour. It is a little developed. After Labin, the east coast road is stunning as it hugs the coastline so the views are over the islands of Cres and Krk. Its a wonderful drive and after 20 minutes you will arrive at Moscenika Draga. Wonderful seaside town. Quite small. Restaurants all hug the beach. The is a lovely harbour. The Beach is very beautiful....however if you walk along the back of the beach a path leads to another beach which is just a little nicer and less busy. Many people do not know it exists! Then the coast continues to Opatija - a large town with boutiques and restaurants. The architecture is Austro Hungarian and the cars are Italian, red and sports cars!
However to go to Istria and only see the coast is to miss so much. Istria has a heart to it. Vineyards you can drop into and do some wine tasting, Olive groves to sample olive oil, Hill Towns, Stunning hills and views. Motovan is a small stunning hill town with beautiful little shops and galleries. Groznjan is another stunning little hill town. It is home to about a dozen art galleries and not much else...apart from the views, views and more views. There are a couple of restaurants.
How to get there?: There are now several chartered flights direct to Pula from the UK - Thomson Flights is worth looking at. These are reasonable value outside of school holidays. Alternatively you can fly with Ryanair straight to Pula. Also Ryanair from various locations to Trieste in Italy (about 2 hour drive). Easyjet offer a service to Venice Marco Polo from several airports in the UK. Ryanair fly to Treviso/Venice.This will take about 3 hours by car after that, but worth considering if Ryanair/Stansted is a bit far in the UK. Easyjet also fly to Ljubljana in Slovenia and this is about 2 hour drive.

About Phil James
We are a young family of 4. We have enjoyed holidays at the apartment every year over the past 11 years. It is a safe environment in which the children have felt very comfortable. What we enjoy from our holidays may be what you like doing: Lots of swimming, walking, exploring, visiting SO many places of interest all of which are easy to get to withinn Istria, relaxing and reading and taking in the stunning views over the bay. Sometimes we eat in and others we eat at various restaurants around the area.
Phil James purchased this Apartment in 2003
Why Phil James chose Pješčana Uvala
We wanted somewhere that we knew we would enjoy as a family holiday and not get tired of. Suncaliste is now part of us. We have long standing friendships with our neighbours. When we viewed the property, we saw about 10 properties for sale in and around Pula, Porec and Medulin and this one was the only one we were serious about. Once you see the view it will become clear. The other major factor is the fact it is in a village and has a friendly, exclusive feel to it with all necessary ammenities inclusing 2 good beaches a 3 minute walk from the apartment. However it is a 5 minute drive to 4 other beaches, 15 minutes to 3 further beaches, 5 minute drive or bus ride into Pula, easy to get to supermarkets. Finally the whole of Istria is available to you and this is a very special place and easily accessible.
What makes this Apartment unique
Istria is a unique place in Europe. It is influenced by Italian, Croatian and Austro- Hungarian heritage and this is found in the architecture, buildings, people and food. There is so much to see and most of it is very easy to get to. Roman ruins, Beautiful Islands, Spectacular views, Hilltop towns, Stunning harbour towns, Great Beaches, Shops, Leasure activities, Amazing churches, Incredible Frescos, Unesco Heritage Sites. These are just a few and all within 1 hour from Pjescana and the apartment.

Perfectly located apartment, clean, modern, everything you needed. Fab sun terrace!!
We absolutely loved the sun caliste apt, from the quick and detailed communication with the owner to the actual resort itself. Location is perfect, ocean fantastically crystal clear, small local beaches wonderful and the beach bar was huge bonus at end of season. We chose to go late season so many things were closed but it suited us perfectly. Lots to see and do around the area but you cannot best the chilled days on the beach followed by great food st Stuza Bar. Highly recommend if you are looking for a truly relaxing and peaceful break late season. Will definitely return.
Thank you for your review.
Had a fantastic holiday in Croatia. The apartment was fabulous and had everything we needed. Loads to see and do, can't recommend staying here enough.
Couldn't ask for more
All four of us (2 adults, two teenage girls) gave out holiday "9 out of 10" and this was in no small part to having the pleasure of staying at Suncaliste. On a quiet backstreet in a quiet village on the outskirts of lovely Pula, and only 2 minutes walk to the beach. Our apartment had just what we needed - smart, clean, unpretentious and everything worked perfectly. Oh, and it has a view to die for, whether watching the sun rise as the fishing boats head out of harbour or late in the evening as the sky turned orange and the bats and swifts circled overhead. We hired a car from Pula airport (a godsend, although as a result we couldn't comment on public transport which might be excellent) and were met near the apartment by managing rep Dave who navigated us in the final mile and showed us around. Couldn't fault the service. Even the cleaners who arrived at 10am on the Saturday to find us only semi-packed when we should have been out were cheery.
Our first trip to Croatia and we all loved it and the local Croatians were always friendly and helpful. Old Pula has a lively buzz, during the day and in the evening, and a trip to the amphitheatre is a must. We couldn't pack all we wanted in - but did the stunning hilltop walled town of Montovun, the photogenic coastal port of Rovinj, the "away from it all" walks on the Kamenjak peninsula just south of Prementura and a boat trip from Rabac across to the island of Cres. All highly recommended. We ate out at Skuza (good value) and Lanterna (pricey), and had the pizzas from the bottom of the steps at the beach which were terrific. None of us are natural swimmers but all enjoyed the warm sea, whether pedalo-ing, paddle boarding or just cooling off, and the water seemed very buoyant which is a plus if you are less than confident in the water. Just remember beach shoes - the main beaches in the area pebbly and the coastline is rocky, but don't let that put you off.
Highlights? - couldn't pick just one. Would we visit Croatia again? -definitely. Would we recommend the Suncaliste apartment? - without hesitation.
Andy, - thank you so much for your very lovely review. We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay and we would love to have you stay again at Suncaliste. Phil
Fantastic family holiday
This is such a fantastic area to visit - loads to do for everyone in the family. The apartment is lovely - clean, well equipped and spacious - and it is in a really good location for exploring the area
Thank you very much for your review. We are very pleased you had a great holiday at Suncaliste again.
If you want to make it 3 holidays at Suncaliste at some time in the future, then just let us know!
Great apartment with sea views
I would highly recommend visiting this apartment if you are thinking of going to Croatia as it has everything you need! There are two beaches right on your doorstep and a selection of good restauraunts. The terrace area is perfect for relaxing in the sun whilst enjoying the view, but indoors there was also enough space to escape the midday heat if needed! the apartment was clean and tidy when we arrived and everything seemed well looked after. This is definitely a go to apartment and I wouldn't hesitate to come back!
Thanks very much for your kind review. Really glad you had a great time and liked the apartment. We'd love you to stay at Suncaliste again. PJ
Pjescana Uvala is the smartest area of Pula. It has a few shops to provide essentials, 2 bakeries and several restaurants. It has a wonderful village atmosphere but Pula is only 5 mins away by car. Here you will find supermarkets, boutiques, numerous restaurants, wonderful historical Roman buildings and a large Roman amphitheatre dating from 1st Century BC.
Pjescana Uvala has two beaches both within a 3 minute walk and there are several other beaches within a 10 minute drive. All are pebbly and great for swimming any time of day. The area is ideal for sailing, walking, playing tennis and many more activities.
Pula is ideally located to use as a base from which to explore. The surrounding area offers lots to see and do, with the beautiful harbour towns of Porec, Vsar and Rovinj all within 45 minutes drive of Pula. You can also explore the wonderful mountain-top villages of Buje, Motovun, Groznjan, or take a 10 min trip by ferry across to the fantastic Brijuni Islands,
Other Activities: carting and regular concerts during the summer in the Amphitheatre
