About the property

Sleeps 6. 3 Bedrooms. 2 Baths.

The house sits atop a hill just off Main Street in a quiet cul-de-sac, despite being only a couple blocks from downtown. The neighborhood is racially diverse, urban and lower-income, with a working class character. There is a free shuttle downtown shuttle stop only two blocks away.

We provide sheets, towels, and a light breakfast. Longer stays are preferred if booking more than a month out.

The house has been recently remodeled with decorative ceiling tiles, river rock and wood textured flooring. There are three bedrooms and two full baths. The master room contains a queen bed and a master bath while the other two rooms share the main bath and have double beds. There is a small backyard and a deck with views of the old hosiery building, Golden Belt, and the sunset!

Once booked, you’ll get a keycode to let yourselves into the house. We live nearby and can be contacted easily should you need anything.

What makes this house unique

We liked this property due to its proximity to downtown and the free shuttle that is two blocks away. We hope travelers can enjoy downtown without having to bring their car. Also, the neighborhood is very quiet and the view is very nice!

Big Little Bungalow

  • 4 of 5

The house was clean, basic, well maintained, and surprisingly roomy. Our family of five was comfortable and had plenty of space to spread out. The whole-house a/c was a life saver (humidity, yuck!). The wi-fi was fine for light use. The house's cul-de-sac was quiet and felt safe, and its location worked out really well for getting around Durham in our rental car. The owner was helpful, friendly, and attentive.

For us, this house was a fantastic alternative to a downtown hotel. We would definitely recommend it and would stay here again ourselves.

Around Durham, we really liked Duke's Lemur Center, loved Monuts Donuts (great coffee!), and liked Loaf (good coffee) and Bull City Brewery. We heard good things about pies at Scratch but didn't make it there. Elmo's Diner was fine (awful coffee), but... we came away wishing that we'd gone to Monuts instead.

Cozy, good for small family

  • 5 of 5

Great stay, place is clean and simple. Internet worked fine. Good proximity to Durham area activities. The area of the house isn't the greatest but no problems. Only 5 min drive to most places we were going. 2 full bathrooms/3 bedroom makes for good stay for families.

Cute house

  • 4 of 5

House was very nice and furnished with anything you might need/want during your stay. Neighborhood is a little "sketchy" but safe.

Clean, comfortable, convenient

  • 4 of 5

We stayed here based on the other reviews, not knowing the area at all. The house is close to highway (147) which we appreciated since our days were filled with driving around the area looking at places to live. The owner is very responsive.

The house is lovely, impeccably clean, and had everything we needed (washer/dryer!). Four of us (two adults, two teens) had plenty of room. The house is deceiving in pictures; the 3 bedrooms are big, the living area is big as well. Easily accommodate 6 people. Beds are comfortable, showers hot. Plenty of seating inside and out. While the house is in the city, it is on a cul-de-sac and both porches offered a nice retreat.

Tidy, cozy cottage.

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was comfortable and cozy, and conveniently located. We were easily able to get an Uber/Lyft whenever we needed to drive anywhere, so we didn't need to rent a car. The owner was attentive to our needs, checking in with us on arrival and departure dates, but otherwise gave us space to do our thing. It was a lovely stay.

Great little home in Durham, NC

  • 5 of 5

The house is great. Wonderfully taken care of, and really clean. The beds are comfortable and the size of the home is appropriate to be comfortable for 5. Michael was a great host, and checked in on us to see if he could help out. He was very accommodating when we asked about a later check out. The house is close to the high way and easy access to downtown Durham or a short drive to Raleigh. The fridge was stocked with some condiments and other day to day niceties. I would book again!
