About John or Kim Schultz

We are from Bellingham, MA. We built our summer home a few years back because we have great memories of vacationing in Maine! We wanted our 3 kids to enjoy what we did growing up; Kayaking, climbing MT Agamenicus, biking, boating, and spending time at the beach. They are getting a little older now and we would like to open our home to other vacationers to enjoy!

The house was very nice; plenty of room for 8 people. I like the option of have a grill. We had a fire every night.

The table top on the deck table was broken - we couldn't use it. The dining table seemed smaller than what was pictured, however there was still plenty of seating space with the 3 stools at the bar.

The vacation came at just the right time. We had just lost our mother- grandmother so it was good to get away to a very quiet place where we could all relax and share memories. The beach was just far enough away...not walking distance though...overall a very nice place to vacation in Maine.

Fantastic House, No Compliants!

  • 5 of 5

This house is great for large groups or multiple families, there is plenty of space in the house, deck and in the yard. At one point we had 20 people (10 adults, 10 kids) there and it never felt cramped. John and Kim are very accommodating and it is obvious they want their guests to enjoy their stay. The property is exactly as pictured, the only thing I noticed that was different is there is Keurig single coffee maker instead of the coffee maker pictured in the kitchen photos. The location is great - just a short drive to downtown Ogunquit and the beach. There is a large deck and fire pit, and plenty of space for parking for several cars, yard space for kids to run, volleyball net, etc. Beach chairs, kayaks, outdoor games and indoor games are all provided. Everything (kitchen, linens, etc) was well stocked and house is well cared for. We were sad to head home and would definitely return to Ogunquit and rent this house again!

A note in response to the poor review on the driveway: The gravel part of the driveway is pretty short, with the majority of the drive to the house being a dirt road (maybe ¼ mile). It’s a bit bumpy but we had no problem whatsoever in our rental car. It also rained several days that we were there – again no problems driving in and out.

Don't rent this place

  • 2 of 5

We rented this beautiful house the week of June 22 - 29. When we drove in, it was called a shock! The gravel went just a short way, then it became a long rutted dirt road. If you have a Jeep it's great! We didn't! Hang on to your back and kidneys for a ride of a lifetime. This may have nothing to do with the Schultz's, but if it's the town, people should complain about it! Unfortunately, the refrigerator wasn't working correctly. There were nine of us and one baby. It was in the 90's that week, so most of our food was bad before we got to use it! The freezer was working! Thank goodness. Kim and John tried to get a repairman out there but it was the weekend....so John came and brought us a compact refrigerator, the kind they use in college dorms. There was no repairman that came! We had to do grocery shopping every day! Food and Drug Administration says, "Keep the refrigerator temperature at or below 40 degrees F ( 4 degrees C)." It was up to 60!

Dining area seated 5 people and there were 3 seats at the eating counter.

On the day we were leaving Kim Schultz asked for our address to credit us $100 for the food spoilage. We have not seen a penny of it yet!

On a good note, the house is plenty big for 10 people and has a lovely deck.

Owner's Response: We were not able to get a repairman to our home to service the frig until the day of departure. We did the best we could under the circumstances by bringing a temp frig on the same day we heard of the issue. We were able to clean the heating coils as well which lowered the temp in a few mins. When we were able to meet w the repairman, he told us that the frig was working properly. He also showed us the proper way to take the frig temp as opposed to someone placing a travel clock in the front of the frig... not too effective. We would gladly refund any losses to a renter if it were deemed a credible loss or we were not able to find a solution. We understand we can't make everyone happy but we hope our other reviews speak volumes! If you are an interested renter, please know that we are more than happy to show you our property before you make any decisions! Thank you!

Great house! Lots of games & activities for kids!

We had a great week in Maine at this house nestled in the woods. It was very quiet & private. The kids enjoyed playing outside with the volleyball net. The firepit was great too!

All around excellent!

  • 5 of 5

First off, the hosts John and Kim were awesome. They were always accessible, and committed to us having a great stay!

This house is set nicely within a gorgeous oak forest, in a quiet/slightly removed area of Ogunquit. It is within minutes of the beach, hiking, shopping, etc. We were five (5) adults in total, so we were very comfortable. The space is designed very nicely for large groups of people, and entertaining. The kitchen flows nicely into the dining/great room, and out to the deck. The deck was our favorite spot for relaxing after a hard day at the beach :-)

John and Kim also provide miscellaneous items such as beach chairs, bikes, kayaks, etc that were muchly appreciated.

This was a great stay all around, and will likely do it again.

Beautiful house!!

Loved this house!

The house is absolutely beautiful! The house itself is very spacious and close to the beaches. I loved that it was secluded in the woods - (bring lots of bug spray) sitting outside on the deck in the middle of the woods was so peaceful. The wrap around porch was gorgeous and hours of entertainment for the kids running around playing nerf war games! The kids loved the outdoor shower! To those staying here read the amenities they only have a k-cup machine don't forget those On Your shopping trip. First morning was rough with a bag of coffee and no machine to make my coffee!

Owners are very responsive and left a lot of the necessities. Look forward to staying here again!

The only draw back was no central AC but we managed with the many ceiling fans they had. Strangely enough I wish they had a mop, broom and a better vacuum so I could do the occasional cleaning.
