I was born and raised on the East Coast - Brooklyn, NY. Educated at CCNY (NYC).

Upon completing my college program, I had the great fortune to experience a brief professional career playing basketball in Europe.

I now live in Arlington Virginia. I am an IT Specialist managing a high profile data program for the U.S. Government.

My most remarkable achievement was raising three wonderful and successful children ... give most of the credit to my wife.

I have been a tourist to the Island of Kauai for 20 years. When the opportunity arose on a vacation to the Island in 2011, I purchased my Kauai vacation retreat. I have stayed at many wonderful resorts on the Island. Kaha Lani is my paradise. I employ a highly reputable vacation rental management company to professionally serve my guests. We take pride in our property and are responsive to any of our renters needs. Since my Property Management Agency is local, my guests are dealt with directly – from key exchanges, to cleaning, to repairs, and anything in between. My property is fully furnished and has all the amenities of home!

What makes this condo unique

Kauai is a vacation paradise. This Island caters to vacationers. You will NOT experience a bustling business commercial distraction. So many adventures to partake in. After a hike in Bali Hai, or Ziplining, or Horseback riding, or whatever activity you favor, you can retreat to the pool, the beaches, BBQ or in-unit cooking, or just watch a movie in the condo on or around Kaha Lani. That's what I do when I return to the Island. But, there is so much more to do and discover. Whatever lodge you decide to stay in, I encourage you to choose Kauai.

The condo was nice and clean. The new stainless appliances were a nice surprise! It was always cool inside, no need for AC. It was well located with a beautiful view and a paved walking path that led to Lydgate park and beyond. The lanai was a great place to relax. The grounds and swimming pool were meticulously maintained. Barry, the owner, was super to deal with. We had a problem with our credit card that we used to pay for the reservation and had to cancel it before our security deposit was refunded at the end of the rental. Barry went way out of his way to help us get the refund independent of that credit card. This problem was all caused by us but Barry was more than willing to help us solve the problem. Barry is a stand-up guy and I would certainly rent from him again.

Property location is great. Loved the beach park next door.

The Condo is going through some much needed updating for the bathroom and kitchen. When those repairs are made it should be very comfortable. The owner has everything you need for cooking and beach time. Be prepared for early morning rooster noise. Overall we really enjoyed the location, the pool, bbq and deck view. Owner was very attentive and returned our security deposit timely.

Terrific location on the island!

Beautifully maintained unit and terrific views (not oceanfront but ocean view). The three flights of stairs makes it a little difficult for us older folks but we called it our daily exercise. We usually get second floor but if you have the energy..the 3rd flight is worth it for this condo. A little confusion on check in since the lockbox was jammed and we couldn't access the unit until someone was found to come and open it for us. The property manager is in Hanalei at the far north end of the island so they couldn't come and take care of it so they finally located someone who could get a key to us. I was anxious to settle in but the wait in paradise isn't that hard. Well stocked pantry and all the appliances you need to make your stay perfect. We couldn't get the TV to work but we don't go to Kauai to watch television (even though the Golden State Warriors were playing for the finals in basketball) but we would have made that exception to our rule to watch our favorite basketball team play. If this is your first trip to Kauai...this is the absolute perfect location!!!

We know you had some difficulties and we responded immediately to your needs. Let me respectfully respond to your comments: • Our condo is ocean view, as you mention. We advertise it as such. As you said, the views are terrific. I think the pictures we post on VRBO accurately reflect the lanai view. • Our condo is a 3rd (top) floor unit. There are no elevators in the Kaha Lani community. From the street level, one must walk 32 steps to our unit. You inspire me as young-at-heart seniors for your efforts to accept this as daily exercise. The upside of being a top floor unit is the cathedral ceilings and the higher level view of the pool and ocean. • I apologize for the difficulty you had with the lock box. Lock boxes are not forgiving. The dial setting must be precisely aligned before releasing the door lever on the box. As you had difficulty, we now advise our guests prior to their arrival to use extra attention with the lock box. • Our Property Manager is in Hanalai. This does not present a problem for our guests because our housekeeper is in Kapaa – less than 10 minutes from our condo. Our Property Manager arranged for our housekeeper to help you enter the condo. As your arrival was early and you waited for help to arrive, we had you in the condo 2 hours before check-in time. In any event, I offer you my apology for this difficulty. • I appreciate that you reached out to me and we had the chance to talk directly upon your arrival. I wanted so much to help you with the lock box and with the television. The television was purchased in March, less than 2 months prior to your arrival. What can be difficult is that the television and the cable box are separate electronics and the directions (that are provided) to work these devices can be confusing. I so much wanted to connect a 3-way conversation with the cable company while we were on the phone. I accepted your argument not to call because you did not go to Kauai to watch television. But, I am a former college and professional basketball player and I appreciate the disappointment that you could not watch your Golden State Warriors sweep the NBA championship series. We appreciate having you as our guest. We hope if your travels bring you back to Kauai, you would consider having us host your vacation again. And, you can look forward to continue your daily stair exercise. Mahalo.

9 days in paradise

We arrived late, in the dark and rain, but managed to find our way thanks to pretty good directions. We awoke to the sound of roosters, and glorious sunshine, to admire the view from our lanai. Barry and Mandy, you have a beautiful place. The complex is impeccably maintained, the pool is warm, and your condo is very well equipped, we lacked for nothing. Long walks on the beach, and the path to Lydgate Park were part of our morning ritual. Kauai is a beautiful island. There is so much to see, and everything is within driving distance from Kaha Lani. The location is central and perfect for getting to all parts of the island. Shopping is close by, in Lihue and Kapaa. We had a fabulous stay, and would definitely recommend Kaha Lani #304. Thanks.

Perfect location, great amenities

My husband and I stayed at this condo for a full week and couldn't have been happier with our experience. We were scheduled to arrive at LIH late morning, so I reached out to the owner the day before our arrival to ask if we could check in early and he was happy to let us have the condo for those few extra hours. To top things off, he had just had the kitchen updated with new tile floors and brand new appliances (new stainless steel electric stove with microwave/vent above, new dishwasher, and new fridge) looked great! We were also greeted with a nice welcome gift of coffee and treats. When we went to make coffee on our first morning, unfortunately the coffee maker seemed to be malfunctioning. I sent Barry a message just to let him know that it needed replaced in hopes that he might switch it out for his next set of guests. He was extremely responsive and had the housekeeper drop off a brand new coffee maker and coffee filters that afternoon. We only cooked breakfast a few times, but the kitchen was well outfitted to handle more. There's a toaster oven and a blender. The rest of the condo was clean, and the furniture pretty comfy, with some nice chaise lounges and table/chairs on the balcony to enjoy the great view. There is no air conditioning in the unit, but the ocean breezes were enough to keep us comfortable (not easy with a husband that loves to blast the AC!). There are ceiling fans in the living room and the bedroom, and 2 stand-up/oscillating fans that were helpful as well. The bathrooms are a bit dated, but they served the purpose (1 full bath with tub/shower, 1 half bath). Plenty of towels and some beach towels available, and we took advantage of the coin-op laundry facilities in the main building to do a few loads of clothes. We also used 2 of the beach chairs and the beach umbrella...there were some other toys/etc available but we didn't try them out. The pool on site is small but nice, good for lounging and taking a laid back dip. The BBQ grills are poolside for everyone's use. The location was really the best for our island exploring....we walked our stuff to Lydgate Beach a few times for swimming, it was centrally located to drive to the north side of the island for more beaches/shopping (45-60 min), similar distance to the south side of the island for catamaran tours, the Wailua River marina is <5 min away for kayaking. Lastly, there are great restaurants in Wailua, Kapaa, and Lihue all a short drive away.

As advertised. Had a great stay. My only advice is to stay longer. 9 days is not enough!

Everything was great. Especially fun location for kids. The pool is clean and very well maintained, and the protected lagoon a short walk away was great for teaching my 5 and 7 year olds how to snorkel. Close to Kapa'a, and not too far from south and north shore day trips. Can't wait to go back!
