Charming log home on the channel. Enjoy the ambiance of our quiet location and beautiful setting. Master bedroom with queen bed and adjoining bath has full view of ocean. A second bedroom has twin over full bunkbed style bed. The third bedroom is furnished with a queen bed. Downstairs features large kitchen, living area with queen hide-a-bed, full bathroom and a four seasons sun room - great for morning coffee. A greenhouse is perched on the water's edge, the perfect place to watch channel traffic on a rainy day.
Very comfortable with many amenities.
Tony's family came to Kodiak from SE Alaska in 1967 to pioneer the commercial shrimp fishery. Annie joined the family in 1973 coming from Tennessee. Tony continued to fish commercially, owning and operating many vessels and fishing all over the state for almost every species of critter there is to catch - from crab to salmon. Annie opened a bookstore and kept the home fires burning, occasionally coming along to tender salmon or fish herring, bringing Hope & Molly, their 2 daughters along. Have operated Beachside Bed & Breakfast for 7 years in our same location - we decided last winter to expand and rent the house as a Vacation Rental. It's fun to share this very special location with visitors to Kodiak.
Tony or Annie Jones purchased this house in 1979
Beachside is a very unique little property. It's snuggled in a residential neighborhood, but as most of the homes are on the cliff overlooking the channel, our yard is down on the water. It just offers a little different perspective. All the views along here are spectacular but we enjoy being on the channel. Daily we see the sea lions make their way to and fro along with ducks, loons, etc. Eagles reside above and around us on all sides. We never tire of watching the commercial vessels plow by along with charter boats zipping in and out and the steady stream of seaplanes that fly out of Trident basin to many island destinations. It's never boring here.
Our 1930's venue cabin is charming and comfortable with all the amenities of home. Experience the view of the channel from the house, sunroom or greenhouse.
Even in the worst of weather, our garden greenhouse provides a shelter from the storm while offering up close viewing of wildlife and anything that happens by or above.
We had the best experience staying at the Beachside Rental, it felt like home. The entire family enjoyed sitting in front of the beautiful living room window and watching the boats go by in the channel, as well as the wildlife both in the morning while having coffee and in the evening after a long exciting day in Kodiak. My entire family loved staying here, recommend this home above all others. This is the only place we will stay when we return to Kodiak.
This home was amazing. You drive up and think...ok, maybe. Then, you walk up and see the view and say--WOW! This house has its own little private beach on the waterfront. We saw bald eagles, sea otters, sea lions, and a whale right off the deck of this house. There are all the comforts of home--the little things are all taken care of such as hand towels, laundry detergent, and soap. Plenty of blankets and things like that and the house is just awesome. you will not go wrong.
Warm, comfortable house with everything we needed. Could have sat and watched the view from the private beach forever!
Beautiful view. Loved watching all the eagles. Very comfortable place to feel at home.
as group of 4 couples, we came to Kodiak and had an Excellent Stay at this house on the Canal. the pictures don't do it justice......my wife and I being the final couple to leave were fogged in one extra day and Annie (Dawn) were great to work with on staying one extra night........we will use this property from now on whenever in Kodiak...........
We had a wonderful time on Kodiack and out stay at the beach side house was GREAT!! We had plenty of room for six adults and one child. The views from downstairs and the large bedroom upstairs were awesome with the occasional fishing boats ,float planes, sea otter and Bald Eagle passing by the house. I especially enjoyed having access to the beach. When the tide was out I liked to look for sea glass on the beach and check out the starfish,
The house has a very comfortable feel to it .
The Coast Guard beach ( Jewel beach) is an excellent beach for finding sea glass but you need someone with a military ID to get on base and picture ID for non military persons. Low tide is best time to look for sea glass or to just walk on the beach and enjoy the view.
My son, daughter-in-law and brother had two successful hunts. My daughter -in-law was able to get her first goat and a black tail buck. My brother manage to get a very nice buck.
I highly recommend the Beach Side House it was very comfortable, it has a great selection of books and the owners could not have been any more accommodating.
Thanks for sharing your home with us.
Beachside is in a quiet neighborhood away from main thoroughfare traffic, on the water in a very serene location, yet only 1 mile from the downtown area and boat harbor.
