Great For Couples And Families!

This newly remodeled ground floor oceanfront unit has 2 bedrooms and 2 baths. A lanai that is steps to the beach. New flooring throughout, new bathrooms and granite counters. The master suite has a king size bed and the 2nd bedroom is masterfully decorated with a queen-sized bed. The living room has a queen sofa sleeper so this unit fits 6 people comfortably! Enjoy cooking in a fully equipped kitchen with all new appliances. Located in the heart of Kapaa town, Pono Kai Resort is walking distance to shops, restaurants and groceries! The resort's amenities include a swimming pool, Jacuzzi, 2 saunas, a workout studio, shuffleboard, putting greens, concierge services and more!

Our condo has an unobstructed view of the ocean with flow through ocean breezes. Each room has a 52" ceiling fan. The large, noisy AC units are installed on the lanais, and spoil the serenity, which is why we do not have AC!

Numerous beaches within a 10-15 minute drive from this unit! Only 20 minutes away to the beautiful Kilauea Point National Wildlife Refuge, 35 minutes to the beautiful Hanalei Bay both on the northshore. If you want to hit the sunny side of the island, its only a 45 minute (or less) drive to the south!

This condo was purchased by my Dad as a place he could gather his family to make those memories that last a lifetime and beyond. My Dad was very instumental in making the Pono Kai into the destination it is today. He served on the Board of Directors, and his contributions are remembered by the Association with a palm tree dedicated to his memory on the lanai side of the F building. TA # W52245082-01

My family has built our own memories in Kauai using the Pono Kai as our home. Our sons are now making their own trips, taking friends that need to experience what Kauai has to offer.

Great place, great location

We spent 10 days in this condo and had a fabulous time there. The view from the living room/kitchen is breathtaking - right on the ocean. We etched the sunrise with a nice cup of coffee right from the living room or terrace several times. The condo has everything you need and it seems it has recently been remodelled, very tastefully. The kitchen is well equipped. We also enjoyed being able to sit and have meals on the covered terrace. It was generally very windy and sometimes rained while we were there, but the terrace is sheltered and not nearly as windy as the rest of the units in this building. Generally, Kapaa is an ideal location for people who want to explore the island, because it's in the middle between North and South. Swimming on this side, though, was not always possibly because of the high waves and strong surf. We loved it and will hopefully be back.

Wonderful location and well equipped condo!

We really enjoyed our time in Kapaa and at this condo.

It was well equipped with a full kitchen and spacious living area, the lanai opening straight onto the water. Although there was no air conditioning, this was not an issue as the fans were sufficient along with a constant sea breeze.

Would definitely stay here again, the beds were super comfortable and the bathrooms spacious! The location in perfect in Kapaa town and we were able to explore the local restaurants and cafes.

Highly recommend, thanks for having us!

This beautifully remodeled condo is absolutely perfect for a relaxing stay in Kauai.

From reading reviews and speaking with the owner I thought I was prepared for what this condo had to offer. But when we arrived I realized and photos and research did not due it justice. The newly remodeled condo was very clean and inviting. Lots of amenities in itself. Boogie boards, beach towels, chairs & a small cooler. This made for easy trips to any of the beaches on the island. The view from the condo was also great! Waking up every morning and being able to walk out and see/smell/touch the ocean. Amazing!! The property itself was very nice. Nearly mantained. The pool area was always clean with lots of seating. There was also lots to do. Volleyball, shuffle board and mini golf. And that's just to name a few.

This condo is also perfectly located. It's a quick shot to almost anywhere on the island from here. In addition Kapaa itself has great restaurants and shops within walking distance of the condo. I suggested Verde, Mermaids, Java Kai and Sushi Bushido. And if you are into presses juices and komboucha do NOT skip Kauai Juice Co. We found it later in the trip and it was amazing!!

Basically there is no way you cannot enjoy a wonderful vacation in Kauai. Especially staying at this condo. I will advise that there is no AC in this unit. However, there are lots of extra fans available. And truly you don't spend that much time in the condo during the days. Evenings are much cooler, so you will still be quite comfortable.

Owner's Response: Aloha, Michelle We truly appreciated your comments, and I know that future guests will also. Since my Dad died in 2011, we have continually worked to improve upon what he started. It was due to his appreciation for the true Hawaiian experience that he would not allow AC, because the compressors on the lanai are loud and unsightly. With the ocean just steps from the living room, it would be a shame to shut the door to that kind of peace and tranquility. Thank you again for taking the time to comment. Beautiful spot, uncomfortable furniture

The place is great but I do have a couple complaints. Although this appears to have been recently remodeled. The couches and chairs we absolutely the most uncomfortable thing I've ever sat on, they were most defiantly bought for looks not comfort. It's always nice to come home from the beach or activities and relax in comfy chairs, but we had no such luck. Also the beds were rock hard, some people like that some don't, I personally don't. One other thing they don't advertise is that YOU will have to do laundry if you decide to use the towels or else they will charge you a cleaning fee. Also the check in instructions are to drive to the complex and call a number to get a door code and that's it. We did not find out till 4 days in to our stay when we wanted to use the pool, that you needed a pool key. Went to the front desk and they told us we should've checked in with them on our first day to get pool keys a parking pass, and give them a confirmation letter of our stay.

Those are really my only complaints other than that, it is a great location for food, shops and grocery stores. Most activities are on the north and south shores, so being right in the middle made it a nice easy 30 min drive vs. a 1+hour drive. Beautiful sunrise view. Although there is a bike/walking/jogging trail that goes along the ocean, I didn't mind it because I like to people watch, but it does take some privacy away as its only about 30-40 yards from your back door.

Also I'm not sure if it's advertised but the complex does have botchee ball, croquet, shuffle board, horse shoes and ping pong, you just check out the equipment at the front desk. The condo also has a small ice chest a couple beach chairs and umbrella stashed away in one of the closets which came in very handy. We also acquired 2 pairs of flippers and a boogie board and left those behind so hopfully anyone else staying there can enjoy those too!

I recommend looking through the blue activities book that is on the shelf, it came in very handy and led us to some amazing spots on the island!!

You are correct that the location of our resort makes it way more convenient to visit both the North Shore, and the Poipu area without a really lengthy drive. The sunrises (and moon rises) over the Pacific Ocean are amazing. We hear time and time again that our condo has one of the best unobstructed views. The Pono Kai Resort could be a travel destination all by itself! I am sorry you found the furniture uncomfortable. It reminds me, though, of what my Momma always said - "You can't please all of the people all of the time." Just the week before, a guest who stayed there was asking where she could buy that mattress, because, and I quote "My brother-in-law loved the Master Bedroom mattress. He struggles with back issues and he slept like a baby and never had an issue all week." In the reservation confirmation email you received from our manager, there were directions from the airport and check-in instructions instructions, which included stopping by the Resort front desk, which is open 24/7. In our correspondence, I stress keeping that email for reference on your arrival day. That is when & where you should get the pool key & parking pass. Our condos are stocked with enough towels & linens for a week's stay. Our guests ARE NOT required to launder those towels & linens. That is included in the cleaning fee you already paid. However, for our guests convenience, there is indeed an additional supply of of towels & linens that we ask our guests to launder ONLY IF they use the extra supplies. I am sorry that was misunderstood. On behalf of our future guests, thank you for your contribution of flippers & the boogie board! I know it will be appreciated. Once again, thank you for your comments. I will use them to improve our communications with our guests, and hope to see you back soon! Mahalo, John

Great Location and property emenities.

The amenities at the property are endless: Concierge services for beach equipment rentals, information about services in the area such where to rent a mobility scooter so mom could get around more, Obtain tickets for events and trips. Walk along the beach front, play put put golf, Bocce ball, croquet, barbecue go to the pool and hot tub. It was fantastic. The condo listing was accurate regarding location, amenities and lay out of the property. The property was quiet at night, despite the town of Kapaa being a block west of the property. We loved being able to just walk out the sliders and hit the beach or town.

The owner worked effectively with us when we changed the initial dates several times. The owner was challenging after our stay. He stated that that we left the condo in poor shape. He did not provide photos that he said documented the poor shape of the condo: i.e. dirty showers, broken blender which we had used the night before our departure, broken toaster oven which we had used the day of our departure and sever other issues. We have been renting condos for 8 plus years in Hawaii and have had good experiences with the owners and leaving a condo in good shape. If I could only have seen the pictures documenting the poor shape I could evaluate the situation thoroughly. The property is wonderful, the condo was nice, enough room for us. I do not recommend working with the owner of the Condo.
