When we bought this house it's Victorian-style trim and front porch gave us a vision it's potential. Renovating small, old, unmaintained houses into modern, livable spaces is our passion and this little shogun house was just calling out for a new lease on life.
When we purchased 807 S 2nd Street it was in rough shape. Originally built in the 1880s to house Union Pacific railroad workers, the house had fallen into disrepair. We renovated it ourselves--from the roof to the foundation--keeping the character of an old shotgun rail house while adding modern amenities and giving the house a second life as a comfortable space to enjoy Laramie's south side.
A fantastic little shotgun house that provided a refreshing reprieve from boring, contemporary interior design: a quaint but well-appointed and very clean place. Owners were friendly, flexible, and responsive.
Amy & Ranie have set this gorgeous cottage up to be a home away from home. It is the perfect place to stay when in Laramie. It is in a really convenient part of town within walking & biking distance of most areas. Lots of cafes and restaurants nearby. It is fantastically appointed - inside and out Thanks for all your help & the use of the bikes. I will definitely be back when I'm next over.
This is the best place to stay in Laramie. Quiet, private, cozy, and convenient. Wished we could have stayed longer.
We stayed at Shotgun Vicki for 4 weeks and had a wonderful experience! The home is as cute as can be and Ranie and Amy are wonderful hosts! The house was exceptionally clean, very nicely stocked with everything you need when you get there, from bathroom supplies (soap, shampoos, q tips, face wash, lotions, etc) to kitchen items (spices, flour, pastas, sauces and on and on). They supply you with a nice assortment of brochures of things to see and do around Laramie. The location is perfect for walking downtown Laramie which has a wonderful selection of restaurants, shops and fun things to do! We definitely would love to return to Laramie and staying at Shotgun Vicki would be first on our list!!
Perfect location, fabulous accommodations, well maintained, everything was just right and there was nothing we were in need of that the home was lacking. We wish we could have enjoyed the property a little longer!
Spent a lovely few days on 2nd Street in beautiful downtown Laramie! The location was perfect, just a short walk for delicious baked goodies and drinks at Coal Creek Coffee in the morning, afternoon shopping, or dining at one of the many nice restaurants in town. We loved being near the railroad yard, particularly since we were staying in a restored railroad worker's quarters. The house is so charming, lovingly restored with all of the necessary amenities, plus the extra bonus of fresh rhubarb and strawberries in the lovely pocket garden out back! Also appreciated the thoughtfulness of providing postcards and stamps for guests to use. The neighbors are very friendly (although everyone in Laramie is friendly), making us out-of-towners feel right at home.
A jewel of place, looking forward to returning!
Laramie is home to the University of Wyoming, with numerous sporting and multicultural events. Laramie also offers seemingly endless recreation opportunities, from hunting and fishing to hiking, skiing, and snowmobiling.
The house is 3 blocks from downtown, the hub of Laramie. Excellent places to eat (and drink) include Altitude's Chophouse and Brewery, Sweet Melissa's (vegetarian, and also has the original pre-1900 bar from Hartville, WY), the Crow Bar, Roxie's, Thai Spice, Anong's, Night Heron Books (and excellent breakfast/lunch!), Coal Creek Coffee, and the list goes on and on.
