Brigitte grew up in Germany, and entered the professional world of Tourism at 18. Came to Texas in my twenties got married and had 3 children, During that time I managed a travel agency and later became a Realtor. Moved to Colorado Springs with my youngest daughter (for her allergies) in 1999 and fell in love with the mountains and my now husband Rich who has 2 children. We loved to hike or snowshoe many different areas and discover nature, always wished we had a log cabin. He has been in Graphics and Ink's for a long time, owing his own companies. Then worked with a company to head up sales for Sublimation Inks (not very well know then) later was transferred to Florida, which ended our quest to eventually own a cabin in the Mountains. Now our home is a condo in Cape Canaveral, were we can watch the cruise ships from one balcony and the ocean from the back.
We love to travel around North Carolina, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, Massachusetts and Caribbean Island, went west to Santa Fe, Phoenix, Santa Barbara, Utah etc. loved it all and were always looking to find a vacation type home.
Rich is still working but with the freedom to work from home. I am somewhat retired, love photography and painting. We both enjoy hiking, discovering new places to eat and have fun. Rich was born and raised in Denver, he has 2 children and 4 Grandchildren and one on the way. He loves to Golf, ski and is into biking, but does that mainly in Florida, as there are not many trails here. He is a great handyman and we enjoyed several DIY home projects. Appalachian Dream is our latest project and we have done a lot to update it and upgrade it. Now we are getting ready to lease out and manage our cabin. We are so happy to find the perfect area and place here in Pigeon Forge. This worked out just perfect.
We called our cabin 'Appalachian Dreams' because that was our Dream.
We are very much looking forward to hosting you, feel free to ask us about the area, the cabin etc. Enjoy your stay!!!
Brigitte Burris-Foltz purchased this cabin in 2013
Rich and I have been looking for a getaway in the mountains. We both love the ocean but we also love the mountains. We finally zeroed in on the Appalachian Mountains after a few trips to various destinations. We kept looking for something serene and beautiful, but were there is also something happening, but not to high up on scary roads. Finally we took a look at Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge and fell in love with the Smoky Mountains. Got a realtor to show us some, when we came to Big Bear Resort... that was it and we immediately decided to purchase there. After a few hurdles we bought in December of 2012, but did not close until 2013 and brought the family up there for Christmas, we had so much fun. Now we stay here during the slow season in Winter and go back to Florida for the rest of the time. We have put a lot of work into it, as it was decorated in a Florida style, so we pretty much changed everything except a few items to give it more an Appalachian look.
We fell in love with the solid log built home right away, it is a duplex, so in total it looks pretty impressive. The large covered Porches and the community it is in. We love the massive fireplace and the cabin smell (kind of forestry) when you first enter. We sleep so well, with our balcony door wide open, such crisp awesome air is here. Everything is just perfect for relaxation. Every time we leave, we can't wait to come back to our Appalachian Dreams.
We all loved the cabin. We are a family of five with a 10, 6 and 1 year old. The cabin felt like a home for the week we stayed. Had everything we needed to keep everyone comfortable. Just like at a normal home there were plenty of towels and extra blankets! Our 10 and 6 year old kept themselves entertained downstairs in what we designated as the "kids" area. They had their own mini fridge to keep their drinks cold. We all enjoyed the hotub after sight seeing all day. The view from the master bedroom deck was at the top of the trees. My family enjoyed our stay and would recommend the cabin!
The cabin was beautiful and well maintained. It's centrally located to many of the activities in the area. I hope to travel to the area again soon. I would highly recommend staying here.
WE LOVE STAYING IN THIS CABIN, 2ND TIME. VERY CLEAN, LOCATION IS GREAT.
Overall our stay was good the property is close to the outdoor pool Which was great for my children whom loved it. The hot tub at both the pool and in our cabin were very clean and nice . Downside was The code to enter the cabin was tricky you had to make sure you pull the door towards you and if you entered the code three times even correctly you got locked out for 30 mins. Never received the code and had to call upon arrival to get it.I liked the firm beds however certain family members didn't. The pillows could be better and the going up and down stairs became annoying.
We had a family of 6 that stayed at this property, and there was PLENTY of room for us to spread out and be comfortable! Super clean, so kudos to your cleaning person! We were concerned about having neighbors that close (town-home style) and having noise, but for anyone that is concerned about this...it's very quiet! We never heard our neighbors, which says something for the structure itself. Very comfortable beds! My family loved the fact that we could walk out of the front door and be at the pool in thirty seconds! Beautiful grounds at the resort, cabins are close together, but that did not bother us at all. Very close to the parkway and other activities, there is a great park about a half of a mile away. Brigitte was very easy to contact and work with. We had a couple of questions during the week, and she always had a quick response. Thank you for letting us rent your home for a great family vacation!
The property was very nice for our family of four. Our children loved the lower level and having it all to themselves. This rental is very close to the pool, which was a bonus as well.
This was a wonderfully carefree vacation. I would recommend this property to my friends. Especially liked that it had an indoor pool too. You never know when inclement weather could hit, so you always need a plan B with kids.
We are located centrally in Pigeon Forge 1/2 mile from the Parkway which is the main drag through town, off Wears Valley Road. 1/4 mile from the cabin is a very modern Kroger, gas station, car wash etc. then within a 4 mile range are many restaurants and attractions see
One must do just 1/4 miles from the cabin is the longest Alpine Coaster in the United States, the Smoky Mountain Alpine Coaster. The track is more than a mile long and you can control how fast your ride is!
New to Pigeon Forge is 'The Island' right in the middle of the river with a humongous Ferris Wheel, restaurants, shops they offer live bands nightly, a free outdoor movie once a week... its a really fun place to be The famous Margarita ville resort and dining is to open Summer of 2014.
Of course Gatlinburg (one of our favorite spots is just 6 1/2 mile up the Parkway and there are many more restaurants and attractions. Take the tram up to Ober Gatlingburg for really beautiful views or the Smoky Mountains. There are several scenic drives, right off Gatlinburg and also in Cades Cove near Townsend. Of course don't forget the Smoky Mountain National Park with and the Appalachian Trail. About 36 miles from here is the town of Cherokee with its quaint downtown and also its Casino, definitely worth the drive though the scienic mountains.
So much to do so little time ;) Enjoy your stay!
