Description

Photos and Description of this 1 bedroom holiday cabin in Chimacum - Treehaven Cabin

Rustic 8 sided cabin close to attractions of the Olympic Peninsula, WA.

Rustic 8 sided cabin close to attractions of the Olympic Peninsula. Centrally located for visits to the Victorian seaport of Port Townsend, beaches, hikes, local wineries and organic farms. Sleeps 2 comfortably, maximum 3. Full kitchen with dishes, cutlery and basic cooking utensils. Wonderful claw foot tub, no shower, organic shampoo and bodywash is provided.

This is a studio space with brand new queen bed, there's a memory foam twin bed in the small sleeping loft. The ladder to the loft is straight up and not an easy climb for everyone! The loft is not appropriate for children under 12 and older or disabled adults.

The cabin is across the road from where writer Betty McDonald lived circa 1930 and was the inspiration for her best seller, 'The Egg and I'. This humorous memoir was later adapted for the Ma and Pa Kettle movies.

Guests have access to the cabin, parking and immediate surroundings.

I'll meet you upon arrival but your space is respected for the rest of your stay.

Rural location between the farming valleys of Chimacum. Some people enjoy riding bikes to the farmer's market on Sundays or stopping at the farm stand during the week. There are tasting rooms at local ciderys within a few miles of the cabin. The immediate surroundings are heavily wooded and there are three rustic cabins set among the trees on this park like acreage.

Located just south of Chimacum, Wa. Restaurants, shopping and entertainment in nearby Port Hadlock and Port Townsend. Easy drive to Sequim, Port Angeles and Olympic national park. No public transportation.

About Kathleen Ney

Artist, designer and property manager. I came to the Olympic Peninsula over 35 yrs ago, fell in love with it then and still find the people, places and environment always fascinating.

Kathleen Ney purchased this cabin in 1993

Why Kathleen Ney chose Washington

Close to attractions of Olympic Peninsula and cultural activities in Port Townsend but quiet and relaxed. The 'Bath House' offers overnight travelers an opportunity to experience a slower pace in a rural environment close to a wide variety of activities. Guests can explore nature, enjoy organic foods and a vibrant arts community nearby.

What makes this cabin unique

The cabin is in a park like setting. Quiet and relaxing surrounded by large trees. Ask to see more of my reviews, here are a few;

'This was the second time I've stayed at Kathleen's cabin. I love the spirit of the place -- it is a handcrafted 1970s-back-to-the-land era cabin. If you know the book 'Handmade Houses', this place could easily have been one of those in the book. It is simple, rustic and unique (octagonal-shaped). The bathroom is the highlight -- large, elegant, old-fashioned wood windows allow you to look out on a fern-filled forest while you relax in the claw-foot tub. It's a great place for a meditative retreat or romantic getaway; about 15 minutes from Port Townsend. If you must have TV and internet, this is not the place for you! Kathleen keeps it clean and well-maintained. She was easy to interact with; check-in was a breeze.'

'My husband and I loved the place at once just from the pictures but it was even more wonderful in person!'

Great getaway to relax and unplug.

  • 4 of 5

My husband and I really enjoyed our recent stay at the unique cabin in the woods. The cabin is tucked into its surroundings with lots of windows and a couple of skylights that make you feel encompassed by trees and nature. The cabin is very clean and the bed was super comfy. Kathleen is a wonderful host. She greeted us upon our arrival and checked in via text to make sure we had everything we needed. Overall a delightful experience.

Unique and comfortable cabin in the woods

  • 4 of 5

The cabin was comfortable and clean. The unique shape and many sky-lights make this space special. As others have mentioned, take advantage of soaking in the claw foot tub under the skylight. There are logging roads/trails to walk a few steps away. Kathleen was available but left us to ourselves. She was helpful guiding us toward groceries and walks. We enjoyed are stay very much.

We recently spent three perfectly delightful days and this lovely rustic little cabin in the woods. No TV or wifi to interfere with just relaxation and sharing quality time with a loved one on the menu.

Inviting. Warm. Quiet. Addictive. Full of modern amenities. Supported by conscientious owner.

Our six-day, five-night stay was the most memorable vacation we’ve had! As a military family that’s experienced multiple moves over 40+ years, nothing, NOTHING compares to the exquisite, pleasant experience we enjoyed during our stay in Kathleen Ney’s cabin deep in the woods surrounded by tall trees that seemed to touch the moon. From the moment we arrived until the day we departed, we enjoyed unobtrusive quietness, accented by periods of long, restful nights’ sleep on a comfortable mattress - - highlighted by delicious cups of coffee in the mornings that Kathleen provided. She was the PERFECT hostess: ensuring all our needs were met. If you’re interested in living like Daniel Boone with modern-day amenities, then make a reservation now to stay in this wonderful, quiet get-away. You won’t regret your decision to do so. ENJOY!

Perfectly cozy cabin on the beautiful Olympic Peninsula!

  • 5 of 5

My sister and I traveled here for a short weekend trip and found everything about the cabin perfect (my first thought was "I could live here forever). It was warm and inviting, beautiful in its simplicity and surrounded by a calm and quiet forest. Kathleen was a wonderful hostess, kindly changing our rental dates when my sister's work schedule caused a conflict with our original plans, meeting us on arrival, and providing useful information. We would return in a second! Thanks for a great (albeit brief) getaway.
