My husband and I are residents of Rochester, MN so we have been fortunate enough to enjoy weekends on the water in Lake City for years. It is a short 40 minute drive to all the beauty and energy the river has to offer! My husband is an architect and I am a real estate broker with a degree in interior design. We have been involved in the renovation of real estate for years.
Holly Henderson purchased this house in 2014
We have loved spending weekends with our family and friends in Lake City for years and fell in love with this property and it's fabulous location! After beginning renovation to the home in January, we are finally ready to share it with guests. It is our hope you will enjoy it as much as we do!

A charming property with Location-Location-Location!
This house is so cute! The updates are perfect, the view is amazing, and the owners really go above and beyond to make certain their guests have what they may need while visiting. The decor is absolutely charming, too. We visited Lake City in the middle of December. Even with 2(+)' of snow and one day of -45°, the house was warm, and the view, a true beauty. The town is so sweet, and in walking distance. The lakeside walks are wonderful (even in the snow). If we are fortunate enough to return, we hope to stay in the same home.
We rented this house for our wedding weekend and it was absolutely perfect! Holly was super accommodating and the location was great. We will definitely rent again!
This was my 10th stay at this unique property, and won't be my last! I've never stayed anywhere that gives me such joy, peace, and comfort. I could look "up lake" 22 miles forever, either from the top deck (where we watched vultures and eagles soar) or the lower, screened porch. The modernized kitchen is totally great (we cooked most meals) & the optional wine for sale is a nice touch! We spent hours on the porch swing, just chilling and watching the people, boats, and birds pass by. The jacuzzi is wonderful, but fill it with hot water first (it runs out) then add cold. The slipper tub on the upper floor fills completely with nice, hot water. LOVE the color schemes and hand made art, pillows, quilts, etc. Such nice touches! Holly rocks, she couldn't be a better owner to work with. Stay here for a lovely getaway by yourself, with your honey, or a whole family.
Upon entering the house, within 5 min. all 4 adults wanted to extend the stay. Holly has clearly put a lot of effort into interior design and decorating. It feels like a beach house. Loved the gabled roof upstairs and the upstairs deck. It was enough room for 4 adults. Would also work great for a family with children as their is an upstairs bedroom. The kitchen is well stocked. Loved the wrap around window seat in the kitchen and the swing on the front porch. Beds were super comfy. View can't be beat. Can walk to town, beach right across the street, walk to Dairy Queen. What more could you ask for? We'll definitely be back.
Holly does not seem to respond to any emails, but she was great responding to our phone calls, so just give her a ring. She picked up immediately or called us back very soon.
Tips: The wifi code is written on a cardboard box that her router came in and you'll find it in a kitchen drawer next to the stove. There were no garbage bags, so we used some plastic grocery bags we had with and paper towels ran out with no spares to be found. There were also no directions regarding what to do to check out except close the windows and lock the doors.
We stayed at this wonderful house for a week. It is in the best location. We walked everywhere and spent hours and hours sitting on the porches and by the fire pit at night. We took a day to drive around Lake Pipen. We stopped at Nelson Creamery for lunch and in Stokholm for pie and a little shopping. It was absolutely wonderful!
The location and view from this property is wonderful with the house right on Lake Pepin. It's perfect for 4 people, but needs a little attention. The interior was fine, but the screened in porch hadn't been cleaned this season and was dirty. If you plan to cook, be aware that the kitchen supplies are minimal. The kitchen has nice appliances, but didn't have any dinner plates. It does now as we bought 6 plates and left them. The beds were really comfortable. All in all, this could be a perfect place if these issues were corrected.
There are so many festivals and events for guests to enjoy on the river! Lake City is home to Water Ski Days being water skiing was invented here. The hundred mile garage sale in May attracts a large following. Numerous carnivals, fishing contests and markets are enjoyed during the summer months.
