Beautiful, plantation style home, situated on a large, open, oceanfront lot. Located in the prime beach area for swimming, snorkeling, beach walking or just plain sunbathing. Seven minutes away from the historic town of Haleiwa and 30 minutes from Honolulu International Airport.
This one story home has an open floor plan living and dining area with ocean views in front and views of the mountains in back. Decks on both the front and the back of the house offer the perfect setting to enjoy the tranquil environment. Four bedrooms with air conditioning and two bathrooms provide many combinations of sleeping arrangements for multi generational families or friends.
Large yard is perfect for casual barbecuing. Neighborhood is quiet and perfect for jogging or taking walks.
Caretakers live in a separate house on the property and are willing and able to help with any questions or concerns that should arise.
From the start of inquiring about the beach house Oona was great to work with in all aspects. Val and LaLynn did a great job in making my family and myself feel like home and also made sure that all of our needs where met with the house. I have recommended this place with all my friends . Would diffenitly want to stay here again. Thank you and HAPPY NEW YEr
This rustic home exceeded my expectations. It was clean, tasteful and well equipped. The new A/C units in the bedrooms were great! I have stayed at other beachfront properties on the north shore of Oahu and Kauai and this one is my favourite. Thanks to Val and Oona for their hospitality!
Well it's hard to summarize a two week trip to Hawaii from NJ in just a few words. We flew into Ohau from NJ and after booking this property months prior and a long flight our expectations were more along the lines of, if there a bed to sleep in we're good. This was our first stop on a three island trip and I have to say, driving there and following the directions to call Val (the caretaker) when I route and then having him not answer made us a little uneasy. There was 6 of us so the conversations in the car varied from it'll be fine to what if we don't have anywhere to stay. Well we did get in touch with Val just prior to getting to the property and he said the gate would be open and he'd be there to greet us. We pulled in and could have been more happy, just a great property, Val is great, house is beautiful, perfect location, well kept and was the one thing during our two weeks in Hawaii that exceeded our exspections. I could have stayed there forever. It was the perfect combination of classic Hawaii, peaceful relaxation and convince to everything the north shore has to offer. Mahalo
This is a beautiful home, situated right on the beach and it was a wonderful and cozy place, especially with 2 young children. Lots of room to move about and the home is close enough to many fun activities. Any and all suggestions that the owner gave us, we did and they were all great! Within driving distance to everything! However, the ONLY real negative is that there isn't an AC unit. For some people, this isn't a problem and for the majority of the year, I don't think it's probably necessary. If you are looking to be there in July or August, just be warned, it's HOT and HUMID!! With 2 children under 4, it's rough when sleep becomes an issue because of the heat in the house. We love open windows and air from the ocean but hot, sticky, humid heat when we are trying to relax, wasn't great. For the price we paid and how beautiful the home is, we wouldn't do it again in the hot summer months without an AC unit. Other than that, really ideal for a large or small family and beautifully maintained property.
Overall, we really enjoyed our stay. It's an older Hawaiian style home, which made for a great atmosphere. We shared house with another family. There were 8 of us all together. Did not feel cramped at all.
The way the house is designed, there are separate bedrooms on each side of the house, so we took one side and they took the other.
My only complaint would be not having air conditioning. It was hot in the house, I had a real hard time sleeping. We stayed outside most of the time during the day and there was a great breeze from the ocean in the back yard, so that was very nice. It kept the kids outside too!!! It was just way to hot to stay in there during the day.
We only cooked in the morning and the house got hot really fast. When I blew dry my hair, I was a sweaty mess. But, we did go during the hottest time and knew we didn't have a/c.
I just thought I was tougher than that. The others adjusted pretty well to the heat.
I would stay here again! Just not in July or August. Again, we loved the setting and the private beach.
We are in Maui now, in a condo and everyone is wishing they were back at the house on Oahu!
1. We loved the house, which really is a classic beach house built in 1938. The breezes off the ocean are so refreshing!
2. The house was spectacularly clean and very comfortable. The grounds are gorgeous. Val and LaLyn work really hard to keep it so comfortable.
3. We loved snorkeling off of the shore in front of the house. The seaturtles were such fun!
4. There ere plenty of beach towels, bath towels, and kitchen linens.
5. The washer lent some mildew-scent to our clothing, which was the only "con" of our stay.
I would highly recommend this property and hope to come back soon!
