About Eileen Blydenburgh

Looking for a country retreat from city life in Brooklyn my wife and I purchased this home after falling in love with the North Fork and the Horton's Pt area of Southold in particular. The home, the country lane, and (yes) the wineries drew us here. The starry nights and the treetop master suite have made us love this home. We have a 5yr old and a 2yr Old. Eleven months of painstaking renovations, including knocking down walls and ripping up floors have left us with (but for 'a few more home improvement projects') a magical unique space that we want to share.

What makes this house unique

My wife fell in love with the addition's master suite which sits 20ft up into the surrounding treetops with windows on every wall. I love the wraparound cedar deck that I built with my father. We both love sitting outside staring up at the gazillion stars you can see on a clear night in Southold. We also love that our daughters wake up asking to see the chickens next door. We walk to the beach everyday, and eat at local staples like Elbow East, O'Mally's and Founders Pub. The best parts of this home include the location (leave the bustle of Main Rd, heading up to Soundview, turning onto the country lane and you are transported to serenity), the great room (serious entertaining space) and the kitchen (if you love to cook as I do, then this is the space for you).

Summer 2016

We stayed at the house last summer and had an amazing time.

Don and Eileen were great hosts. They made sure that the house was well stocked with anything we would ever want during our stay and promptly answered any questions that came up. Logistically, they were also very easy to work with.

The house is very clean and welcoming and felt very spacious and open. It was what we were looking for in our North Fork gateway. The house is located in a quiet spot, not too far from the beach, close to all the farms, vineyards and main towns. We loved having breakfasts and dinners on the porch.

Everything we hoped it would be

We rented this great house for 6 weeks over the summer and had an excellent experience. It is within walking distance of a nice beach and is updated and very comfortable. There was plenty of outdoor space and even toys for the kids. The owners were incredibly helpful when we had a question on our first night and shared information ahead of time about great spots on the North Fork. We would recommend this place wholeheartedly.

Absolutely 5-stars!! We rented Cedarhill Spoon for the month of September 2016 and it was PERFECT!! The owners were VERY responsive to ANY/ALL concerns we had about the property. It was better than advertised and we truly enjoyed our time on the North Fork. And apparently, so did our guests.....there were only 10 mornings in the month that we woke up by ourselves!! A GREAT place to entertain family and friends!! Would we do it again? YES!!

Cozy, yet spacious home for family time

We stayed in the home for nearly a week over Thanksgiving - our family of 4 (with two small kids), my in-laws, and my sister-in-law. We had plenty of room/privacy for all of the adults and kids, but the common areas were warm and inviting. We easily made our Thanksgiving dinner (and most other meals) in the beautiful, airy new kitchen. There's a long farmhouse table that is perfect for gatherings. The house was also well stocked for families with children - was pleasantly surprised to find plastic toddler dishwear in addition to a highchair, pack-and-play and crib. My crawling baby was also thwarted by all the child-proofed electric outlets. The location couldn't be better, either - on a quiet lane while also minutes away from the main road. We found that we could be in Riverhead or at Orient Point State Park is less than 30 minutes. Wine, beaches and other attractions were super close. Lastly, Eileen was very responsive to my questions both before and during our stay (on a holiday weekend!) We would certainly stay here again!
