Very cute, rustic, but very outdated

  • 4 of 5

The location was perfect! The hot tub was also a huge plus. The inside of the house was dirty. Cobwebs in many corners of the ceilings. Extremely dusty throughout house. The house just seemed like it has been vacant for awhile and unloved by the owners! It was a perfect place for young adults my age 24-27 because we didn't care much for the dirtiness, more for the location and skiing. Easy to rent, the company is great.

We were ready to buy and move in!

  • 4 of 5

This cabin had everything you would like in the mountains. Beautiful home filled with the necessities. Our only complaints: the kitchen items are definitely dated and hard to cook with, we couldn't get fans upstairs and some lights to work, and the outside needs a good sprucing up. But these are all VERY small things. All in all, a beautiful cabin, very private, beautiful view, and incredibly relaxing to stay at. It made us ready to buy the house and move right in!

Overall this was a cute cabin. The reason I gave it only three stars is because of simple things...

  • 3 of 5

Overall it was a cute cabin. The biggest problems with this cabin are truly small things that could be easily fixed:

1) Many light bulbs were out, or the lights did not work

2) The mattresses were old, so if not going to replace them then a proper 2-3" foam mattress topper would solve the problem

3) The tv upstairs did not work

4) The hot tub was left on with the cover over it. So when we attempted to get in it was way too hot. We tried to cool it down, but it actually took 12 hours to cool down. The second night we were able to use it.

5) The road to this cabin is difficult to traverse even in spring summer and fall, especially if it rains.

The Cabin is described as rustic with a view. Once you are able to navigate the washed out driveway with gullies (we got a flat tire in one car and I found out later it has been acknowledged as needing attention for weeks) the pictures in the ad are very dated; any views shown in the pictures are sure to be years old. There is no view of the mountains and valley from the hot tub or the back deck as it is now all over grown when looking out. The description needs to be changed and the pictures updated. The attention to detail is just not there. The gas grill is not usable as the burner is rusted through. The nice looking brick fireplace out back is dirty looking, really covered in moss and the grills grates are rusted with one of the covers not attached to the brick any longer. The nice landscaping around the back is now over grown. Almost every light fixture around the house when two bulbs were supposed to be there had only one or missing both altogether and every other light in the row of overhead lights in the kitchen was either missing or did not work. The kitchen sink water hose does not work. This is just neglect of the property and not what is shown nor expected. I have rented from other places and not needed to dispose of my own trash but found out after confirming payment and paying a higher than normal cleaning fee that I needed to dispose of it myself (per a law? It must be their choice to mandate this?) Overall the place looked in need of a good dusting. The TV is an outdated CRT Tube TV and the upstairs TV only had a DVD player available for viewing. We will not be back. We took some pictures for reference to remind us to always ask how OLD the pictures are when renting.

Owner's Response: As always we appreciate any and all feedback from our renters. The driveway to the cabin was washed out by a couple back to back storms this summer. The road up to this cabin was just regraded and graveled this past week taking care of the washed out areas. Yes the trees have cut the view down from when that view picture was taken so we will update with a new picture this week. Service to giving attention to the other items this renter mentioned and there will be a walk through the property prior to each and every arrival to hopefully assure no negative surprises in the future.

Barebones cabin vacation

  • 3 of 5

The cabin was pretty nice. Good air condition, nice microwave, new iron, good stove, hot water didn't run out, and private. We wanted to use the charcoal grill, but it had racks stacked in it and must not have been used in a while, so we skipped this. The water was very hot in the hot tub and couldn't get it cooled down enough for us to try , but it looked nice. The previous tenants must have taken the key that was supposed to be inside, but we just went to Lowes and got one made so we could keep the original in the lock box. There is no WiFi and phone service is not great, but sometimes it's nice to be away from stuff. The driveway could use some work. Would not recommend if you have a small car. There were ruts that seemed to get a little worse after the rain.

Great location

  • 3 of 5

As an owner on VRBO I understand the importance of customer feedback and the POWER of reviews. Close to Boone , very easy to get from point A to point B. Secluded - BIG PLUS. Air Conditioning worked VERY well. Plenty of towels. Did contact owner about making some adjustments so that the next group would have a pleasant experience. Will say, owner needs to upgrade the TV and grill. After getting there your contact is a Rental Agency , they were very helpful and easy to get hold of. Jay from Charlotte
