About James Latyszewski

I was born and raised in Michigan. When I was young I traveled to Yosemite, California and was blown away by the mountains, waterfalls and wildlife. Ever since, I have spent all of my summers near national parks like Yosemite, Yellowstone, Glacier, Arches, Acadia and Mesa Verde. In the wintertime I enjoy living in exotic tropical locations.

James Latyszewski purchased this house in 2006

Why James Latyszewski chose Montana

This property has an amazing view of the mountains and is centrally located to all four east side entrances into Glacier National Park. It is also conveniently located between St. Mary, Browning and East Glacier. Out of all the places I've lived and visited, this is the most tranquil, peaceful and relaxing.

What makes this house unique

Some benefits for staying here are:

You will not hear the trains in town or vehicles on the road.

You will hear great horned owls and coyote.

You will not see trash and roaming dogs.

You will see the mountains during sunrise, sunset, moonlit nights and dark starry skies.

If you are lucky, you may see the northern lights, bears or even a mountain lion.

Moose, deer, rabbit and squirrel are commonly seen in the yard and eagles, great horned owls, swallows and humming birds are usually around.

There is great drinking water from the tap.

The cabin was beautiful, in a beautiful setting, close to Glacier!

  • 5 of 5

Driveway was a little rough, but worth it. Would absolutely stay here again! Spacious, nice kitchen, nice bathroom, laundry machines, newly remodeled cabin. Great value for the price. Property owner was very nice as well.

would definitely recommend

  • 4 of 5

The place was great- clean (although it did smell like someone had smoked in it previously), comfortable, attractive, roomy, lots of cooking supplies and having a washer/dryer was a real plus since we could pack more lightly. It was convenient to all three entrances to East Glacier. Not to be redundant, but the driveway was definitely a challenge - it couldn't be done without a car that is pretty high off the ground and as a person with back issues, i literally had to hold my self off the passenger seat to make it. The prairie/lowlands scenery really grew on me and was a nice contrast to being in the mountains every day. I will definitely recommend this place to everyone I know visiting the area. The only things that kept me from giving it five stars was the driveway, the smokey odor and it could use a few more window screens for cross ventilation

Nice Place to stay off the beaten path

  • 4 of 5

Great little house on the prairie. We had grizzly bears in the field wrestling the 1st morning and deer roaming the field the 2nd morning. The cute ground squirrels are always around to welcome you home from a hard day of hiking. The 1/2 mile road in is the only thing bad about this house which is why I can't give it 5 stars although is was adventure each day. It is very bumpy and if it has rained recently there will be standing puddles of water/mud and will require you to wash your car after your stay. Otherwise James has gone out of his way to make this house very comfortable and well stocked and is very helpful in giving you suggestions on hiking trails and things to do in the area.....

We Called it our Little House on the Prarie

  • 4 of 5

Yes, it was a little house on the prairie. The house sits in the middle of a field and yes, the road into the property would be a challenge to many cars (we had an SUV). But, we liked the quiet and wildlife. A bison visited us nearly every morning and evening grazing about 50 yards from the front door. We were also lucky enough to see two moose out front one morning. The house is rustic but pleasant.

Montana cabin under the big sky

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay early in Sept despite cool and somewhat rainy weather. The house is as described. It is very well equipped. We especially liked having a washer and dryer and sharp knives. It can be a little hard to grill when it is windy but we managed. Jesse was available and made sure we were comfortable and gave us some good hiking recommendations. It is quite close to St Mary's but a 45 or so drive to Many Glacier. The sunroom is wonderful and the views magnificent. We saw deer, a big bison and 2 moose in the yard. The drive is rutted but quite doable if you go slow. The directions were easy to follow and accurate. We thought the bed was a bit soft (not so good if you have back issues) and the linens well worn but serviceable. We would definitely stay here again if we returned to the East Glacier area.

The house is nestled in the foothills of the northern Rockies. You can see nine summits in Glacier National Park from the windows. It is located between three entrances of Glacier; Two Medicine, Cut Bank Creek and St. Mary. The Many Glacier entrance is a one hour drive. In the yard you can frequently spot moose, deer, coyote and occasionally some bears. The house is in the middle of a small field that provides an ever changing 360 degree panoramic view. You can enjoy the sunrises and sunsets, which offer great photo opportunities of the surrounding area.
