About Lindsay Lever

My husband and I are an English/American couple with 2 young children! We are based in Williamsburg, Brooklyn but desperately needed a place to escape too. So with a lot of hard work we managed to buy our country home. It's taken a year to get it looking good, and we are constantly working on improvements & new projects. We love our country home & we hope you will too!

Lindsay Lever purchased this house in 2013

Why Lindsay Lever chose New York

For us it was the perfect location. Set back from the road it offered us the privacy we desired but so close to Rhinebeck, Redhook & Kingston. We fell in love with Rhinebeck on our 1st visit. The town, shops & amazing restaurants. Spring time is our favorite season when wild flowers bloom on every corner. The locally grown fresh fruit & vegetables our some of the most delicious we have ever tried and we love bringing our load back to city with us to enjoy for the rest of the week.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We stayed at this delightful home this fall and had a wonderful stay. The house is perfectly located close to town and the interior is so tasteful and impeccably clean. We were a group of and had plenty of room, so happy we picked this home, it was a great choice.

We booked this house for a last minute trip & all I can say is wow we were all so impressed. We were a group of 7 adults and felt like the size and space of the home was exactly right. Lots of open space good light, nice warm cost fireplace. We loved using the Grill outside even in the winter. I would definitely recommend this house and we will be back!

Great Stay

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at the Rhinebeck home. The house is specious, clean, well maintained and tastefully furnished. All bedding linens and towels were provided. Lindsay is the perfect host, she was always available and even gave us great recommendations for things to do in the area. The house is super kid friendly with lots of toys and even a crib. We loved the outdoor area and the town is beautiful. We will be sure to come back.

Second Stay Even Better than the First

  • 5 of 5

We came back to this idyllic country house after having a great time on our last stay. I was once again impressed by how nice and warm the house is. It is well decorated and offered great space for the whole family to enjoy a winter weekend. We especially loved warming up beside the stove in the living room.

The location of the house is so great for exploring the Rhinebeck area and Ulster county on the other side of the bridge. Also, Lindsay, the property manager gave us plenty of ideas and was readily available to provide some helpful details and suggestions about weekend activities. It was like we had our own concierge!

The pond is really pretty in the wintertime and we enjoyed taking a stroll around the scenic property as well. When we weren't out exploring nearby sites, the kids' toys and streaming devices on all the TVs kept us occupied.

I can't wait to come back for our next stay in the summer.

Excellent House for the Whole Family

  • 5 of 5

I stayed at this rental home with my family and we really had such a wonderful stay. The kids were so happy and well entertained with the pool, toys and masses of outdoor space. There were 8 of us in total and we felt the house was spacious and roomy. Such a lovely home we will certainly be back. We also loved the location very private.

Beautiful House

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed at this lovely home in January 2017. We were pleasantly surprised to find the house so conveniently located. The house is very private and set on beautiful grounds. The house was fully equipped, a full kitchen for the chef! :) It was very clean and all the linens and towels were fresh and looked new. We would definitely stay here again and come back with our grandchildren as the house also has a lot of toys and play areas which they would love. We plan on coming back in the summer for sure!! Overall a great relaxing stay, the home Owner was lovely and answered all our questions very quickly. Would highly recommend.

Unfortunate circumstances

  • 3 of 5

The house is pretty much as described. Clean, nice decor, conveniently located. The owner/manager is very responsive and helpful. She provided a welcome packet with useful information and always responded to texts quickly.

We could have gone with other cheaper houses but my kids love swimming and so we paid extra for a house with a pool. Sadly the kids only got to swim in the pool for half of our stay. Before we got there we received a text saying that the pool was being worked on so we couldn't swim in it. My husband found a rodent of some sort in the motor area and the pool had all sorts of roaches, bugs, leaves, etc. because the filter wasn't working. The owner was very good about updating us on when she expected the pool to be open, but nevertheless two days passed before we could swim in it which was half of our stay. I asked for a partial refund, which she agreed to. But then during check out she said her cleaner found a stain on the mattress and would not be able to refund us after all. My daughter wears diapers and it's possible there was a leak but we didn't notice any wet spots throughout the trip.

Also, some other smaller issues--the house is located around a pond/lake which attracts a lot of geese. Because of this, there was geese poop everywhere. It was a landmine trying to walk around and not step on poop. The garbage can is also pretty far away from the house. Lastly, given the number of bedrooms and bathrooms the house has, the dining room is pretty small and doesn't comfortably accommodate that many people. We had 7 adults and 2 children and it was a tight squeeze. The dining room can only really comfortably accommodate 6 people. Likewise with the living room.
