About Alexandra Shaw

Alexandra is a transplant to PEI who quickly fell in love with the Island, and decided she is here to stay. Summer or winter, she loves spending time outdoors, whether it is reading a book on sandy beaches followed by a swim in the warm ocean water, or snowshoeing in the forest in mid-winter.

In her day job, Alexandra is a Communications professional who enjoys the outdoors, good food, travelling, and taking the time to stop and smell the roses. As an avid traveller, Alexandra understands the importance of a home away from home: she makes every effort to make you feel comfortable, and tries to anticipate any of the needs you might have. She is also a real 'people-person', and enjoys meeting her guests and doing all she can to make their vacation a success.

Alexandra Shaw purchased this cottage in 2014

Why Alexandra Shaw chose Grand Tracadie

Since childhood, Alexandra has loved everything about the ocean. After moving to PEI, she dreamed of finding the perfect oceanside getaway. In February 2014, Alexandra snowshoed up to this cottage and it was love at first sight. She loved the private, ten-acre lot on the ocean in beautiful Tracadie Bay, the view of PEI's famous sand dunes, and the sole sound of wind in the trees.

What makes this cottage unique

This cottage boasts a huge screened-in porch that looks out onto the ocean, and where you can lounge morning, noon, and night.

Awesome location

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cottage is clean, well equipped, has comfortable beds and has an amazing screened porch. The location made accessing different parts of the island manageable, but biking from the house over to and through the National Park was a highlight. Only downside was swimming in July was hampered by jelly fish. The pictures online capture the cottage and grounds realistically [unlike many other VRBO cottages that mask some of the downsides to their properties]. Alexandra had many nice touches...a well stocked kitchen [condiments, coffee, sugar, oil and vinegar], a phone charger and a great goody bag when you arrive. This is a great spot from which to explore PEI or just to sit and relax and enjoy the beauty of the property itself.

Private paradise!

  • 5 of 5

This property was fantastic; private, scenic, well equipped. The location is near enough to tourist spots like Charlottetown or a number of excellent beaches (Dalvay and Brackley were our favourites), and Alexandra has included a National Parks pass so you can enter without having to pay; this was our favourite perk! The screened-in porch was the the best thing ever.

5/5 would return again!

Quiet paradise by the sea

  • 5 of 5

We were there for 5 days. Lovely house in a secluded spot. For most of our stay we left the car parked in the driveway & just enjoyed the peace. The weather was great on for a couple of days and atrocious on other days — either way it didn’t matter. When it was nice we walked along the beach or hung out in the backyard. When rainy & cold we just enjoyed catching up on reading in the cozy house. Alexa was gracious and helpful.

Lovely, restful cottage on gorgeous property overlooking the water...

  • 5 of 5

My mom, two sisters and I stayed in Alexa's cottage for a girls' getaway weekend last month and had a fabulous experience. Alex was responsive and informative from the moment I contacted her and helped make our first visit to Prince Edward Island simply wonderful. We arrived to the island late at night and were welcomed to the cottage with a bag full of local artisanal goodies. Alexa had also kindly stocked the fridge with milk and left us delectable croissants for our first morning. Throughout the trip, she was communicative and offered great recommendations of restaurants and places to see. Her cottage itself is very clean, beautifully decorated, and inviting. All of the beds were comfortably made, with extra towels and blankets available in each room. She's thought of so many details to make her guests comfortable during their stay from providing a charging station for both iPhones and Androids in the living room, to a night-light in the bathroom, to leaving several maps and brochures of the island out for guests' use. Her property is simply stunning and we loved taking morning walks along the shore and up the lane, and having breakfast on the screened in porch overlooking the water. I'd love to go back during the summer months and utilize the fire-pit in her backyard and spend more time on the water in the kayak and canoe she provides. Needless to say, we fell in love with the island and I hope to plan another trip to dreamy PEI and Alexa's charming Seagrass Cottage very soon!

Peace and relaxation in PEI

  • 5 of 5

There are so many great things to say about this property! Firstly, Alexa is a SUPER hostess. She was always prompt to respond during our booking process and met us at the property when we arrived. When we had questions during our stay she was always very quick to respond.

This cottage is so relaxing. The view of the water with the sand dunes in the distance forces you to relax once you walk in the door. The screened in porch is a wonderful place to spend your time eating all of your meals, playing board games and watching the fireflies after dark. The location is simply perfect! So close to PEI national park with it's miles and miles of gorgeous white sand beaches, Charlottetown is 20 minutes away and it is a great place to start many day trips to explore the island from.

The access to the kayak and canoe were an added bonus which allowed us to explore the MASSIVE dunes across the bay. They are simply a must see when you stay here. Yes, there are mosquitoes, but Alexa has done everything she possibly can to minimize them by way of clearing brush etc. so we did not let them stop us from enjoying evenings by the fire pit at the back of the property. The sunsets were stunning from here. We have rented a lot of properties through VRBO and this is one of our absolute favourites! It was hard to leave. Thank you for sharing your piece of heaven with us. Cheers from Vancouver!!
