Guests enjoy a charming two bedroom apartment above Brooklyn Farmacy, our storefront soda fountain, in family-friendly Carroll Gardens.
Enjoy the neighborhood from the privacy of your corner room with a view, or pop downstairs to mingle with the regulars at the fountain counter. A favorite with locals and tourists alike, the Brooklyn Farmacy is a prohibition-era drug store restored as an ice cream parlor. Pete & Gia, sibling proprietors, live in the building and will be your hosts and neighbors.
The guest apartment is a lovely, sun-drenched, second floor suite, comfortably furnished and seductively simple. Two bedrooms offer full size brass beds, luxurious bedding, and plenty of closet or wardrobe space. Sleep two more on the living room sleeper sofa. The single bathroom is tastefully tiled and the water is plenty hot! The modern kitchen is stocked with cooking needs and complimentary coffee, tea and seltzer from the Farmacy.
Carroll Gardens is one of Brooklyn’s most desirable locations. You will be blocks away from the restaurants and boutiques of Court Street as well as the artisanal shops and bars of Smith Street. Take the kids to play at the fabulous Pier Six, take in a concert at Brooklyn Bridge Park or walk the Brooklyn Heights esplanade for great views of the Manhattan skyline. Spas, movie theaters, farmer’s markets, salons, banks and dry cleaners are abundant. A fifteen minute subway ride on the F train gets you to Manhattan and a slightly longer one takes you to Coney Island and the beach.
Enjoy the 21st century buzz of Brooklyn while stepping back into time. Send the kids down to the soda fountain to spin on the red twirling stools, play checkers, and sip egg creams at the end of the day. If you're visiting friends and family in the area, you'll have a great place to meet and greet.
TV/wifi access. Heating and AC.

Siblings Peter Freeman and Gia Giasullo are the proprietors of Brooklyn Farmacy & Soda Fountain and owners of 513 Henry Street. We are fortunate enough to live above the sweet soda fountain we opened in the Spring of 2010. We take pride in providing our guests with a charmed experience, from the ice cream we scoop, to the friendly atmosphere we provide. We are a family based, small business.
Gia Giasullo purchased this apartment in 2013
We had a wonderful time and Gia was more than hospitable. The apartment had lovely Brooklyn charm, was clean, and felt like home. Area was also very nice and off the beaten path so not touristy at all. However everything you need is close by in walking distance with very easy access to Manhattan via subway. Next time we armrest in NYC we will definitely come stay again.
It was our second stay in this wonderful place and Gia was a great host. The property is as described and even better. There is everything you need.
Great neighborhood with plenty of small shops and nice restaurants (don't miss the "Farmacy" downstairs, closed to the waterfront and easy to explore other Brooklyn neighborhoods.
Safe and just a short walk to the F-Train with excellent connections to Manhattan. We come back again! Petra and Claudia
My family and I stayed here in October for 4 nights, and we absolutely loved it. The apartment in itself was big enough for us and I really liked the decor - it was super comfortable and made us feel at home. Gia was really helpful and made us feel welcome and gave us lots of ideas about things to do, eat and drink in the area. Of which there was much to choose from! I loved the area - very relaxed feel, the area was close to everything we wanted to do in Brooklyn and we didn't have to go far for a good meal! The laundromat opposite was very handy for us and we enjoyed out morning coffee in the Farmacia! We really enjoyed our stay here.
My husband, daughter and I enjoyed 3 nights at Carroll Gardens. The location was excellent with easy access to laundry, grocery shop, liquor shop, restaurants and subway etc. The neighbourhood was friendly and bustling with the activity of families living in the area. We loved the quirky decor, comfortable beds, lovely fresh linens, fabulous kitchen and good wifi. Gia was very accommodating and very easy to communicate with. Arrival time was easy as Gia lives and works at the same address. We happily recommend this app to others.
We spend 4 very enjoyable days with our son. Property is very clean, linen and pillows very comfortable. Good kitchen where you can really cook if wanting to (I did) close to many shops including Whole Food, Trader Joe's, and the many ethnic food stores on Atlantic. On the negative side, it is a bit noisy, it is a typical railroad apartment, have to go through one bedroom to reach the other. Should check that they have window AC units for the summer months.
Immaculately clean apartment. Kitchen is wonderful. Owner was so attentive and responded to a couple requests within minutes! I would stay there again when visiting Brooklyn!
There are many local attractions close by, many of them in walking distance including: Pier 6, Brooklyn Bridge Park, The Brooklyn Historical Society, and NY Transit Museum. Enjoy day spas, hair salons, restaurants, fashion boutiques, bars, movie theaters, beaches, parks and more just blocks from the guest apartment.

This guest apartment is located on the second floor of a building that houses a soda fountain, a family, and a single occupant. While we do our best to keep things quiet, if you are looking for solitude and silence, this may not be the perfect spot for you. If you have extreme allergies to animals, please note that we have a friendly dog on premise, as well as a cat.
