Description

Photos and Description of this 1 bedroom holiday condo in Corey Ave - Isle of the Bay condo

Old Florida charm on Boca Ciega, 5-min bike ride to Gulf beaches.

Hints of the 1950's still echo in this fully updated 1-bed/1-bath efficiency that sits on the shore of the Intracoastal Waterway, 1/2-mile from the Gulf Beach at St Pete Beach.

Great care was taken in this remodel project to maintain the character and style of mid-century design. Compact European appliances with clean-line cabinetry makes this space very live-able.

Very close to Corey Avenue Historical District with dozens of shops, restaurants, and bars within easy walking distance. Bus line and beach trolley stop is 1/2 block away. Beach is about 15-min walk away. Older boat slip fits up to a 25-footer (additional $95/mo for slip - no electricity to slip).

Isle of the Bay was built in the mid 1950's and caters mostly to snowbirds and early retirees. It's quiet and sunny. Perfect for active folks with a sense of nostalgia for vintage character and style in a new remodel. No hand-me-down furniture in this VRBO!

Includes use of 2 beach-cruiser bikes (one-speed, coaster brakes - use at your own risk).

Strictly no-smoking even in the common areas. Sorry no pets.

NOTE - 1-month minimum, please.

About Peter P

We moved to Florida from San Francisco several years ago. We love travel, discovery, and adventure: Florida has fed our thirst for all. We live near downtown St Petersburg and enjoy sharing the area with friends and family.

I guess we are nostalgic at heart and appreciate the character that comes with a vintage patina - some things just seem to get better with age!

Peter P purchased this condo in 2013

Why Peter P chose St Pete Beach

I have to confess, the boat slip. Cheryll likes to tell people 'Pete bought a slip with a condo attached to it.' True, but we both fell in love with this complex - the light that streams into the windows is amazing; the neighborhood is so very convenient; and our neighbors (including many seasonal guests from around the world) are really nice. It's a quaint place that really tugs at our nostalgic hearts.

We had a great time renovating the property, and tried to honor the period in which it was built. While working on the remodel, I often thought of my long-passed grandfather who, starting in the 1960's, traveled from his New Jersey home to Florida where he loved walking, being outside, and fishing (he would have loved the fishing pier this place has).

For us, vintage places just seem to build memories with more depth and emotion. We find ourselves smiling frequently when we're at this apartment and we hope this 'Old Florida efficiency' condo evokes a similar emotion with you.

What makes this condo unique

Nearby shopping, restaurants, and bars. Grocery store is less than a block away - no need for a car every day. Corey Avenue, the down-town of St Pete Beach, is about 2-1/2 blocks away where you'll find shopping and a weekly street-market (farmers market and craft market).

Cute, warm, modern and clean A++++

  • 5 of 5

My parents spent over two months in Peter and Cheryll's condo in St. Pete beach. They found the place very comfortable and clean. It's close to everything and Peter and Cheryll take great care of this property. Highly recommend this cute condo and my parents will definitely return.

Thank you for your hospitality Peter and Cheryll. Loved it!!!

Owner's Response: Thanks for the kind words! We understand your parents enjoyed the pool. Our condo association is working to remodel the pool for next year so it should be even nicer. We enjoy meeting people from all over the world - thanks for letting us put a pin in our globe for Albania :)

Our return visit!

  • 5 of 5

The thorough remodelling of this property has paid off, we were the first rentals for Peter and Cheryl and when we returned nearly 18 months later we were delighted to find no signs of 'wear and tear' and everything in good working order. On arriving from the UK we much appreciated the fresh soaps and toiletries to freshen up, without having to unpack a suitcase and could relax comfortably straight away. The weather at the beginning of our stay allowed us to open the windows all round and have a cooling breeze blowing through which was great. The Tommy Bahama beach chairs and umbrella were put to good use, as we could arrive at a beach and spend the day comfortably! We enjoyed cooking out on the Barbeque which is down by the dock, there is always something to watch on the water. Boca Ciega Drive is a lovely quiet location, we like the quirkiness of this 1950's building and all it has to offer. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will return - our regret - not using the bikes!!

Owner's Response: It was a great to have you back, and glad you enjoyed your stay. April is a surprisingly good month in Florida - the humidity is low and the sunshine almost constant. We hope to see you again soon! Peter & Cheryll

The property is kept in very good condition for an older building and upgrades are being added.

  • 5 of 5

The property owners are friendly and our hosts were especially attentive to our needs. We enjoyed the stay and look forward to returning next winter. Our condo was very clean and fully supplied. The gift basket left for us was especially thoughtful. We know that more upgrades planned for the property are going to make the experience even better. Thanks to Peter and Cheryll for making our stay a great vacation. Thanks to Rob for maintaining the building and grounds. Everyone was such a good neighbor.I

Owner's Response: Thanks for the kind words. For us, the best part of VRBO is meeting people like yourselves. For longer term guests (our minimum is 30-days), its a very convenient location and we try to make it as comfortable as possible for long term stays. We look forward to seeing you again next year!

Lucky find on St. Pete Beach

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful find! Peter and Cheryl did a wonderful job refurbishing this rental property. The complex is small and friendly. Peter and Cheryl are very gracious and made us feel very welcome with some food items so we did not feel like we needed to run out and food shop upon our arrival. The first class kitchen cooking equipment was very much appreciated as well as first class amenities. Even though restaurants are within walking distance from the condo we cooked all but a few nights. While we were here Zoominations (Chinese Lantern Festival) was at the Lowry Park Zoo. A MUST SEE!! if you are going to be here in April and May. Photography is a hobby of ours and besides Zoominations, sunsets at the beach a walk away, Lowry Zoo, and Fort DeSoto for FL birds and bike riding are all a short distance away. We use the exercise equipment at the Community Center and the heated pool to swim laps. Again, thank you Cheryl and Peter for giving us a wonderful break from the CT snow. I'm sorry that we will not be able to return next year as it is already rented for March.

Owner's Response: Thanks so much for the kind words - we had fun remodeling and tried to think of small touches to make it extra special. It's very gratifying to know those efforts made your stay easier. Sounds like to found some great things to do - will add them to our list. Safe travels home, and we look forward to seeing you next year even if not at our condo.

Our stay FEB.1-28TH

  • 5 of 5

As we are nearing our stay at Peter and Cherll's home, we can only make the following observations about our rental condo. Everything excelled our expectations of a rental property. Not only was the condo clean but the owners had made sure that our stay was like being in a 5 star hotel.Everything is first class from the furnishings to the tableware and linens. We have booked again for next year and want to thank our hosts for making us feel like home.

An incredible find in St. Pete Beach

  • 5 of 5

We were truly pleased that we chose to make this our pick for a short-term furnished rental when we relocated from New York to St. Petersburg. The complex is on the small side, quiet and, as other guests have noted, the neighbors are friendly. The condo is immaculate, recently renovated, tastefully decorated, and well equipped. We cooked many dinners in during our stay. Its location on the bay allows for a quick walk to the water or pool with a cup of coffee or a drink in hand, but it's just a 10-minute walk to the Gulf. Restaurants and shops are also just minutes away on foot. Hop on the bikes and venture even further. Cheryll and Peter are thoughtful hosts who make a real effort to make guests feel welcome and comfortable. We have our own apartment now but are glad to have had the opportunity to stay. Definitely recommended.

Owner's Response: We had a great time remodeling. We too travel a lot and tried to provide everything imaginable to make our condo comfortable and well equipped. Glad you enjoyed the bikes! We moved to St Pete from San Francisco several years ago and while St Pete (the city) is tiny in comparison, we too are pleased to call St Pete home. Over the past 5-years, the downtown area has exploded and is now well known throughout Tampa Bay for an active restaurant and arts scene.
