The Trouthouse is our vacation home, which we are pleased to share with you when we are not staying there. I designed the cabin and guest house to be our dream get-away, and hope that it will be yours, as well.
Today it is almost impossible to find a modern vacation home right on top of a stream bank, due to flood regulations. We were able to build our new cabin on piers on the site of an older cabin that was razed. As a result, you can dine on the back deck overlooking the stream as well as fall asleep at night listening to its music.
The owners are very nice and easy to communicate with. The caretakers are very responsive and able. The wood burning stove kept the dampness out and the cabin toasty. Everything you need is there and available to you. We are a group of senior citizens and found the spiral staircase unpleasant with the 3 bedrooms upstairs and 2 bathrooms downstairs. Fortunately the guesthouse has a bedroom and bathroom that can be used. I would highly recommend this cabin to young families!
Everything was very clean. Kitchen well furnished with utensils, etc.
This was our second time at the Trouthouse. It won't be our last ! The owners made some improvements since our last visit , adding a deck and new parking . It really is a hidden gem . Great location on a stream , the kids had a blast playing outside! The inside of the cottage is great , with a nice kitchen and multiple bathrooms! Even the bedding they provide is great! Wonderful cottage, owner is great to deal with, book your trip now !
Our family, 10 members residing from PA to AZ to CA and aged 15 to 85, spent a week at the Trout house. We adapted to the close quarters, minimal internet and fewer bathrooms within a couple of days. Although there are sleeping accomodations for more than 10 people, keep in mind there are really only 4 bedrooms, so large groups will be sharing space. Once we were settled in, we enjoyed the streams for exploring and fishing, local hiking trails, cooking and baking in the well-equipped kitchen, and campfire evenings. I would recommend groups of 10 or more look for a larger space, but we did manage to have fun. Leonardo's subs in Franklin is a must!
Was our base camp for daughters wedding and everything was perfect. The kids enjoyed fishing and swimming in the stream. Had issues with the satellite TV but wasn't missed. The newlyweds enjoyed the little cabin as there honeymoon suite so they could have some private time away from the kids. Hope to make it an annual trip and will definitely be checking into the Trouthouse again.
A few friends and I stayed at the Trouthouse this past weekend. Pictures of lodging can certainly get creative to make a place look nice, but not in this case - the pictures didn't serve the place justice! The "cabin" is located about 15 minutes from everything - Oil City, Titusville, and Oil Creek State Park. As for things to do in the area, decent trout fishing in Oil creek, the state park nearby is interesting showing the history of oil drilling in PA. Running and biking paths inside the park, trails crossing the area for hiking as well.
As for the cabin - absolutely incredible is the best way to describe it. I thought that my home was decorated very well, but, I have to admit that the owner went way beyond anything I expected. From the granite counter tops, to the slate walls in the bathrooms with river rock incorporated into the walls, 3 bedrooms, Sleep Number bed - you will not want for anything at this place. There was nothing that we needed as everything was provided other than food. The grounds are beautiful with the cabin sitting on a triangle of land with two trout streams running each border. There's a covered porch with gas grill, fire pit out in the yard, mountain bikes available for use - seriously, you can't go wrong staying here at all. The owner was a pleasure to deal with, constantly in touch with emails prior to the rental as well as giving his phone number if there were any issues as well as a local contact person to go to if we needed anything. Definitely will be back with my family!
