About Chris Currie

I am an educational program development consultant and my wife edits our community newspaper. We live with our three children near Washington, D.C.

Chris Currie purchased this cabin in 2008

Why Chris Currie chose Pennsylvania

The Trouthouse is our vacation home, which we are pleased to share with you when we are not staying there. I designed the cabin and guest house to be our dream get-away, and hope that it will be yours, as well.

What makes this cabin unique

Today it is almost impossible to find a modern vacation home right on top of a stream bank, due to flood regulations. We were able to build our new cabin on piers on the site of an older cabin that was razed. As a result, you can dine on the back deck overlooking the stream as well as fall asleep at night listening to its music.

Lovely

  • 5 of 5

It was a lovely house with every amenity to enjoy it both inside and outside. Loved the sound of the river out back - it was so relaxing. The house was immaculate when we arrived. The scenery all around the area was gorgeous.

Wonderful!! Best week ever!

  • 5 of 5

We had the best time ever with our kids this week at the trouthouse! Literally everything was available even outside toys for the kids. The kids loved the creeks and it was so peaceful to listen to them moving past the cabin. The two porches were great! There are a lot of things to see in the nearby area. Chris was great to deal with and once we were there Bill and Carol were super responsive and so sweet!! We made great memories and really enjoyed our time there. We will definitley be back!!

The Trout House Gem!

  • 5 of 5

Our two families had a great week in the woods! It all started with a wonderfully appointed and maintained cabin & bunkhouse... everything you need, just bring yourselves, your clothes and your food. All buildings were clean, rustic in a classy sort of way with soap stone counter-top, Jen-aire range, dishwasher, river rock shower and back splashes and top quality bedding, linens and towels, even a washer & dryer! And they are connected by a common deck/porch both covered and uncovered... no need to go inside when it rains. You can listen to the wildlife all around you to include a really nice stream that runs literally less than 20ft from the cabin. All of the kids (3 - 21 yrs old) + the adults had a blast playing in the streams, catching snakes, eels, frogs, turtles, crayfish, etc. plus attempting to kayak down Little Sugar Creek. We visited 2-Mile Run Park less than 10 minutes away to do some boating, kayaking, fishing, mountain-biking & hiking... awesome. We can't wait to go back! Thanks for a great experience!

beautiful

  • 4 of 5

picture perfect! the property was well appointed with everything you could need (except a vegetable peeler..lol).. the rustic appeal, comfort (like the nice quiet air conditioning and the comfy beds), and the property itself was so fun to roam and explore. we made some nice memories and if it wasn't so far from our home in ny we'd be booking it again of next year! we recommend the firefly festival for anyone who is into that sort of thing. thanks chris, bill, and carol for sharing your place with us.. actually one minor criticism.. there are no screens in the windows or sliding door so when you're cooking (which we did plenty of) you can't really hear the creek. oh well, nothing is perfect!

Owner's Response: Thanks for letting us know about the missing veggie peeler -- we'll have that replaced pronto! We had a few screens that we were late installing due to absence out of the country of our handyman (and his long ladder), but those are in now. The sliding door screen was broken during a recent stay and I'm still trying to find a replacement (since the door is no longer manufactured). There are virtually no insects around the cabin so it's not likely a problem if the door is left open. We really appreciate guests letting us know of anything missing or broken so we can quickly make it right for the next guests!
