We have been vacationing at our parents cabins in the Marcell area since 1970. In 2000 we bought our first lake cabin on a lake in Marcell. We loved the cabin, lake activites, the area and everything about vacationing on the lake. We were hooked on being at the lake. In 2002 we changed careers and moved 'up north' to the cabin. Its was awesome, and we had no regrets. Later, I wanted a little bigger 'home' rather than a cabin, more storage space, a level, west facing property with privacy and a sand shoreline. In 2005 we saw this property. It had it all, and we were in love with it. In 2006 when it became available for sale, we bought it. Its been the best times of our lives living here on the lake. Our children have married, and all live nearby, and now we have grandkids! So this is where every one comes for family fun! We have made so many memories on the lake with family and friends. Its been a great place to enjoy and entertain guests, fish, boat, play, relax and enjoy nature. We couldnt have had a better time any where but here!
Cheryl Ritter purchased this house in 2006

If you are looking for a relaxing, perfect Minnesota summer vacation, look no further than right here. The home was perfect for our family of 4 adults and 2 children, very comfortable. We (the parents) had our own wonderful private suite! The grounds are beautiful, the lake cool and clear, and the beach private and sandy. We enjoyed fish dinners on the deck overlooking the peaceful lake. We would recommend this home to anyone wanting to explore northern Minnesota and then relax at your own lakeside retreat.
Wonderful vacation home rental! All the amenities of home plus the beauty of the lake. Secluded and private.
This place was fantastic. The house is bigger than I originally thought. There were no neighbors so privacy was perfect. The beach and docks were perfect for playing and boating. The house had all the amenities that we needed and then some. I would highly recommend this place. So beautiful!

Although our area is known for its many lakes and the peace and quietness of nature, there are many things to do in our great north woods. Marcell is the closest town. It's home to the discovery center just a few miles away and has an interpretive center, fishing peir, visitor center and many daily activites for families. Marcell has two antique shops, breakfast and lunch cafe, real estate office, church, lumber store, gas station, garden center, post office, bar, hair salon and family center. In June Bigfork holds its annual wilderness days and the last week end of July, Effie holds the North star stampede Rodeo. Our county has 1007 lakes. Most of them are just minutes away. There are four lakes and one river in the area that boast of trophy Musky. The lost 40 is just north of us, the avenue of pines is west of us, and the bear and wolf centers are north east of us. We are just 35 miles north of Grand Rapids where many activities are held including Tall timber days, farmers market, Dirt track racing, horse shows, Judy Garlin Museum, Antique/ Flea Market, County fair in August just to name a few.
