Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday cabin in Newport - CEDAR CREST CABIN

Cabin is only 400 yards fron the lake and only one mile from a large boat launch

This is our first listing and we are excited to have the opportunity to help you experience the beautiful Tennessee mountain views that we have grown to love. Our quaint “hillbilly” cabin is an older fixture of the area and no-one is sure exactly when it was built. Over the years there have been numerous modifications and updates. We have recently expanded the size of the cabin and also added a 12'x16' deck on the west side so that you may view the gorgeous sunsets at the end of your day while grilling your favorite meal on the new gas grill. Please, sit under the umbrella and enjoy! The roof has been completely replaced and the whole inside has been refurbished. Great care was taken to maintain the country feel. Through dedication to detail and lots of hard work the cabin is now up to rental standards and we hope that your visit will be both comfortable and memorable!

The cabin offers two bedrooms, each with its own queen size bed. The master bedroom is next to the full bathroom and a full vanity/mirror has been added to the second bedroom for your convenience, as well as a full size washer and dryer. The kitchen has been expanded and is fully equipped. The living room is newly furnished and offers a 50” HDTV, DVD, and free WIFI.

Additional parking available for camper, boat and trailer.

Only a quarter of a mile from Douglas Lake and one mile from a good size, well maintained, public boat launch.

Within 10 miles from Hwy 40 and Highway 81

Approximately 30 minutes from the Sevierville/Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg area. This community is known world wide for its beautiful Smokey Mountain National Park. Also home to Dollywood, Ripley's Aquarium, Ogle's Water Park, numerous theaters, museums, restaurants, and shopping outlets.

Located centrally between the towns of Newport and White Pine. Newport is the bigger of the two towns and offers plenty of restaurants, stores, and medical facilities for your convenience. White Pine is home to the White Pine Golf Club!

Located on a good solid black top road . Property has additional parking for boat and/or camper.

Finally, this cabin is not in a “cabin city” but on its own piece of private property on one wooded acre and offers seclusion from neighbors. Property is located so that you can enjoy yourself and not fight summer traffic! Beautiful country roads take you where you want to go and the driving time to any and all tourist attractions is cut in half

Our home is located in northern Wisconsin where winters are extremely cold. Our son lives in Tennessee near our cabin and after four visits to the area we made a decision to purchase a cabin and spend our winters here. The beauty of the area also played a major role in our decision. We have traveled extensively around the world and had the opportunity of living in Switzerland for five years while I was employed with Control Data Corporation. The mountains near our cabin remind us of the Jura Mountains in Switzerland.

We purchased the cabin in February of 2013 and commenced the major remodeling process starting 2014. Our traveling experiences have educated us in what is required for a comfortable stay in a place away from home. Hotels never gave us the feeling of tranquility. Our goal was to offer you a home style visit where you can enjoy yourself as though you were at your own house. If we have learned anything through the years it has been that there is nothing that beats winding down after a long day in a comfortable environment. Sit back, relax, and enjoy our home.

BOB ROGALLA purchased this cabin in 2013

Why BOB ROGALLA chose Douglas Lake

Its near a large lake and is centrally located between many historic areas to the east and major intertainment areas to the west such as Gatlinburg / Pigeon Forge and Sevierville.

What makes this cabin unique

Quick access to major roads but still in the country.

Great Getaway!!

  • 5 of 5

My wife, baby and I had a really great time at Cedar Crest. The cabin was well appointed. The beds were very nice and slept great. Flatscreen was so nice for the weekend football games. Tom the caretaker is a good guy and will help if you need anything. We bought a bottle of wine and could not find a corkscrew. I told him it was no big deal, but he bought one and dropped it off. We had a great weekend and appreciate the hospitality.

Gorgeous Tennessee

  • 5 of 5

This cabin is in a great location. It is easy to find and is not far from restaurants or stores. The cabin was clean and comfortable. Beds were very comfortable too. The kitchen was well stocked with all you need to fix a good meal. Its a great choice of a place to stay off the beaten path, but close enough to reach attractions and things to do. We loved the front porch in the mornings. The birds are everywhere, especially a very large cardinal who was there to greet us each morning. The back deck was desirable in the afternoon because the sun was on the front porch. The caretaker, Tom, was friendly and helpful.

Perfect Cabin and Great Owners/Caretaker

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I wanted to get away for a few days just to relax with no real agenda. We chose Cedar Crest and are very happy we did. The cabin was great and we needed nothing. It was all there. Very comfortable and clean cabin and we really liked the location. Bob was great to deal with and he made sure we had everything we needed. He is definitely the kind of owner you want to have when you are choosing where to stay. Tom is the caretaker/point man and he also was great. He made sure we had everything we needed and he was genuine in his concern that the cabin meet our expectations. Actually, the cabin exceeded our expectations. As a bonus, the price is more than fair. I could write a lot more, but I'll just sum it up by saying that we couldn't be happier with our choice to stay at Cedar Crest and I would have no hesitation in recommending to anyone.

By the way, if you want a great place to eat, Grill 73 is it. It's about 9 miles from the cabin and is owned by a Russian couple. They are retired circus performers and the food here is wonderful. Everything is prepared fresh and in house and it's well worth going.

Set against the backdrop of the foothills of the Smoky Mountain, Douglas Lake is a popular recreation for all types of vacationers

and provides 513 miles of shoreline and 28,420 acres of water surface for recreation activities.

Douglas Lake is one of the cleanest lakes in TN, and the only lake convenient to Sevierville, Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. It is an anglers paradise and is the site for several bass fishing tournaments, including the Tennessee B.A.S.S. State Tournament

Fishing: Nourished by three rivers, Douglas Lake has become the premier bass and crappie lake in East Tennessee. Fishing is a year round sport at Douglas although spring and fall are the preferred seasons. From November to May, the wide shallow embayment, fertile creek hollows and stump beds, attract the crappie in huge numbers during the spring spawning season making crappie fishing excellent! Spring is the best time for bass fishing but you will find there is good stock year-round

Douglas Lake is a seasonal lake regulated by the TVA. From mid September until mid May the lake is lowered to provide an emergency reservoir in case of heavy rains/snow in eastern Tennessee. The boat launch near our cabin remains open and is active all year.
