Perfect setting, mountain bike heaven

  • 5 of 5

The foliage was peak, the cabin spacious and new, and being able to bike from the front door down a short path the Ojibwe trail made this the best mountain bike vacation I've ever experienced--and I've been to Moab, Crested Butte, Kingdom Trails, and dozens of other mountain bike meccas around the country. We spotted black bears, red foxes, bald eagles, and so many deer we stopped noticing them in our four days in Cable, WI. The only problem was being spoiled so much by the extraordinary CAMBA trail system that going back to mountain biking in my native Massachusetts is just boring and frustrating. I guess I'll be doing a lot more road biking now instead.

I'd love to return to the cabin in the late spring to ride in warmer weather so we can enjoy more time on the big screened-in porch and the fire pit, and though we averaged about 25 miles a day on the trails, there were plenty we didn't get to. And there are several breakfast options at the Brick House we still have to try. Nice pizzas and beer at the very bike-friendly Rivers Eatery, too. Maybe by Spring the ridiculous number of Trump signs will be gone from people's front lawns and the drive from Minneapolis to Cable will be even more scenic.

Private and close to the Trails!

  • 5 of 5

My mom and I stayed here and watched my daughter race in the Jr. National Nordic ski championships. The place was spotless when we arrived and just perfect for us. We could walk to the venue to watch the race, and then I would ski out the door in the afternoon. Very relaxing, private and comfortable for us. Sadly, I had to do some work, but the wireless internet made that easy.

Thanks so much!

Quiet winter respite

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for a few days at the end of January to do some fat biking and snowshoeing. The cabin is very roomy, the wifi worked great, and we really got a taste of the woods in winter. I hope we can come back sometime when everything is green. Thank you for providing such nice amenities to make our stay so comfortable.

Beautiful modern well equipped cabin in the forest. Unlimited snowshoeing right out the door and 100 meter hike to the groomed Birkie/North End ski trail system. Perfect for silent sports enthusiasts. I will be back.

Woodland Retreat

  • 5 of 5

This cabin welcomes you to a different world. Beautifully built and equipped, it is a welcome escape from the daily grind into an environment of comfort, privacy and the gentle sounds of the north woods. Accessed by a well maintained gravel road, the seclusion is unmatched by any place I have ever stayed, and yet you are only minutes away from dining, stores and many activities. My wife and I were burned out, and the week we spent enjoying the massive screen porch, the fresh air and the sounds of the woods really did a great job of rejuvenating us. It really was like stepping into a different time. The owners have thought of everything - three large bedroom, an area with a stereo, another with a flat screen TV and DVD player, three full washrooms - one with a tub, one with a shower/tub combination and one with a walk in shower (something for everyone), a fully equipped modern kitchen, and if you are crazy enough to bring work to this escape from reality, two good sized desks and a strong wireless internet signal. Beautiful woods, great trails and some small woodland natives make this the perfect get away.
