Great views, secluded from neighboring houses, centrally located to all major attractions in the Adirondack park including Lake Placid, Saranac Lake, Paul Smith, Cranberry Lake, Racquet River, and much more to explore in both the summer and the winter months.
Our stay at the cabin was excellent and the accommodations were even better than advertised. It had all the amenities of home with the advantage of being surrounded by the scenery of the beautiful Adirondack Mountains. Definitely a place we plan to visit again.
The cabin is very home-like. It is equipped with everything you need. My daughters and I will definitely stay again in the future.
The cabin has 3 bedrooms - however, one bedroom has two double beds, and another has two twins. The third bedroom is in the basement and has a queen sized bed - the room is adjacent to a sitting area which has another queen and a single. So, the cabin does sleep 10, but only if two couples don't mind sharing a bedroom, and if a couple plus one other are willing to sleep in a sitting room outside another bedroom. We rented a larger house and the cabin so ended up moving one couple with child to the larger house so two remaining couples could have comfortable bedrooms. The house is cozy and one asset is that it is quiet and generally comfortable. One drawback is that of the two bathrooms, one is on the main floor - and there is none on the basement floor, where one bedroom and two other beds are. The owner was very responsive when we noted that the rugs needed cleaning and there was a musty smell in the basement. She sent the cleaning crew back - it turns out they had an equipment breakdown and hadn't properly vacuumed the rugs. As the basement area is at ground level, I don't know how much more can be done the address the mustiness. We also noticed that the French drain around the basement wall was dirty - again, not sure what can be done as it is designed to drain away any water that comes into the basement and would likely leave dirt behind when that happens.
All the amenities of home in the middle of the Adirondacks. My family of 8 adults shared this space very comfortably. There was sufficient parking, plenty of hot water and fridge space, a full kitchen etc. Wish we could have used the fireplace but it was too hot so we had outdoor fires instead. The setting was perfect--the reason people vacation here. My older daughter--a certified city dweller--had so much fun she suggested we do this again next year.
I was very impressed with the overall "cabin", which was more like a complete home, much more than the 3-BR cabin as advertised. It was very spacious, well-furnished, and even included toys, games, TVs, and a variety of books, not at all sparse. The only complaint would be the small size of the bathrooms and the dim lights, but there were two full bathrooms, so these would be quite functional for a sizable family. Overall, the space was surprisingly luxurious for the price and size. We had a very enjoyable time staying there.
Just enjoyed our family reunion in Tupper Lake at the Log Cabin at Tamarac Village. Since we had a large group, we combined the Log Cabin with several smaller cabins at Pine Terrace Motel just down the road. The Log Cabin was great - even larger than it appeared in the pictures and we used every bit of it. Even the areas that didn't seem important to me were enjoyed by members of the family. We had several little kids and they used the swings for hours and hours and hours. They also loved playing the piano - who knew? One of the adults also played so we had live music as entertainment while preparing meals.
There are multiple areas to relax and eat and chat - the screened in porch, the open porch and the deck with the grill area all had lots of use in addition to the kitchen & dining areas. Great gas grill on the deck and we used it a bunch. There's a big fire pit which provided a great gathering spot as well as two evenings of some'mores. The lot is heavily wooded and beautiful as well as quiet. The kids had a good time adventuring down to the (dry) stream bed and hiking around.
Although the house description says 3 BR, sleeps 10, there's actually an additional double bed & twin bed down on the lower level, along with another couch. We didn't use all the beds but the ones that we did use were great. Also, the water pressure in the showers was excellent and the hot water rebounded very quickly in the morning.
Susan, the owner, couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. She was very patient with all my questions (I was the reunion coordinator) and also very accommodating for any requests. Since I live in Missouri, it was critical to have an owner that was responsive, and she was amazingly fast at answering to emails and messages, which was also very helpful.
All in all, a really nice week and a perfect spot for our family!
