Many thanks for the time in your lovely casita. We've admired the refurbishment - been very comfortable, and of course raved over the views. Thank you for the provisions already here - we appreciated them greatly particularly on the first night. Our two weeks exploring the village and surrounding country has been superb. Many thanks. And Jill - many thanks for your help and advice.

Superb

The property name 'casita de suenos' translates to mean the house of dreams which could not be more appropriate. The photographs do not do it justice as it was so well equipped, clean with all the facilities you could wish for. The owner was incredibly helpful with providing all required information and we will definately be returning in the near future.

The village of Montejaque is beautiful rural spain and all locals were friendly and accommodating. The hotel in the main square served excellent food and welcoming owners, especially their dog!

Highly recommend this cottage and part of Spain for a rural retreat whatever the time of year (Dec 08)

Loved the house and the village

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here at Casita de Suenos early in May to avoid the heat of the summer as we wanted to walk. The house was a perfect base and, as others have said, you can be on well-worn mountain tracks five minutes after stepping out of the front door. With Brenda's detailed information, we had no problems finding either the village or the house and it was very easy to make ourselves at home once we were unloaded. Although the weather was changeable at first, we were still able to make excellent use of the outdoor terraces later on and it was good to be able to switch between sun and shade outside, rather than having to retreat indoors when it became too hot as has happened in other properties we have visited. The day that it rained heavily, we simply stoked up the woodburner and relaxed with the good supply of books and videos provided in the house without the guilt we would have felt at home! One of the best features of the house's location is that you can choose whether to explore locally on foot or further afield by car as the mood takes you. The countryside is unspoilt and the roads are quiet, yet Ronda is only about 20 minutes away. Montejaque itself is very attractive and the people are genuinely friendly. All in all, we loved both the house, which more than lives up to the description on the website, and the village, which may not be one of the better known "pueblos blancos" but was a real find as far as we were concerned. The fact that we are already planning a return to both Montejaque and Casita de Suenos next year says it all.

Owner's Response: So pleased our guests had such a great time. The village's location is a real draw for lovers of rural pursuits - walking, birdwatching, etc. Yet those who want to explore historical sights and enjoy the buzz of a lively Spanish town (Ronda) will find all this within easy reach. Marbella, Seville and Jerez are all an easy drive, with Granada also possible as a longer daytrip.

Wonderful house in excellent location

  • 5 of 5

This proved a perfect location for two couples aiming to walk in the Serrania de Ronda. The restorio has been undertaken with a great deal of thought and care, resulting in a lovely house with loads of room for 4 people, very well furnished, all the facilites and equipment you need, and absolutely stunning views to La Hacho in both day and night. The terrace (at least at the time we were there) was the perfect place for breakfast and then again for pre-dinner drinks and meals after a days walking.

Montejaque is a good location for walking the area (and for visiting the wonderful town of Ronda), and so far retains much of its traditional character. The maps and info provided by Brenda and Laurie were very helpful, and over two weeks we got to know where to shop for what and when, to enjoy the local bars and restaurants, to converse with some of the shop keepers and to join in some of the village activities. Local Jill who looks after the house letting on-site (she lives close by) was also very helpful in getting us orientated to how things are done, and the house was spotless when we arrived.

Overall, a lovely and well-furnished house in a great location, all aspects of customer service are first-rate, and excellent value for money. Highly recommended.

A view of the mountains

  • 5 of 5

We had such a lovely relaxing stay at Casita de suenos. The house was very well equipped and the welcome pack much appreciated after arriving late on Sunday night. The views of the mountains and olive grove from the garden are spectacular. We spent many an hour watching the vultures (in the day) and bats (at night) from the hot tub. My only regret was not packing my binoculars!

The village is very picturesque, as are many of the white villages in the area and exploring them is highly recommended. I'd recommend visiting Ronda in the day and the night. The atmosphere is amazing. A small car is definitely a must for investigating the area and for parking in the village. As well as exploring, it is equally easy to walk straight out of the front door to explore the mountains or spend time in the village centre in numerous friendly pubs and bars. Everyone was very welcoming and I'd say our Spanish is improving.

We will definitely be coming back!

Amazing

  • 5 of 5

A lovely house in a lovely white village. We stayed for a week in the cottage, but we could have enjoyed ourselves way longer. You have an amazing view from the jacuzzi and the terras, you see the olive grove and a rocky mountain with volutures circleling around the top! Breathtaking. At night watching the stars while seated in the jacuzzi, a perfect getaway. The location is perfect: a wonderful Pueblos blancas (white village). If you walk to the end of the street a nature parc begins. You can hike through the nature parc, stroll through the small/narrow streets of montejaque, visit Ronda, visit other white villages, go by car to sevilla or just enjoy yourself in the jacuzzi. So if you want to have an active or just a really relaxed holiday, this place is perfect. The cottage it self is really lovely, well maintained and really clean. it has a nice bathroom, kitchen with all you need. You feel at home right away. We went there with our six month old daughter and had a great time!

Traditional village home

  • 4 of 5

The house is in a lovely village with a very peacful pace of life. There are several small local shops which cover all your needs.

The house has been very nicely restored and has all the comforts of home. Ideal for 4 people.

If you are planning to go outside the main holiday times, then any sun you have will not make it onto the rear patios, which is a shame.

A wonderful place to relax and mix with the real locals.

Owner's Response: We are always grateful for feedback - Thanks for the comments and so pleased Phil & Dawn had a good time. Having some shade is great in the summer, when the temperatures rocket, and it is our long term plan to extend the raised patio at the end of the property to give access to direct sun even in the depths of winter. In the meantime, visitors might like to know that the bar in the village square has tables outside and that corner is a real sun trap - got burnt in January once!

Wonderful mountain location, on the edge of the lovely Sierra de Grazalema, with pretty white towns and villages to explore and beautiful countryside all around. The rear of the house has unspoilt views of a mountain peak, with an olive grove in the foreground. The spectacular, historic city of Ronda is just 15 minutes away for sightseeing with Moorish architecture, the breathtaking gorge and numerous restaurants, cafes and museums. A nature-lover's paradise, with great walking, climbing and bird-watching. There is a fantastic range of landscapes within 10 minutes drive of the house - with rolling wheat fields, dramatic limestone escarpments, forests of cork-oaks, even rather Tuscan-looking lines of cypresses leading to stone farmhouses. The vibrant cities of Seville, Granada and Cordoba are all within striking distance and Marbella - great shopping, lovely beaches - is only 55km away. All in all, a great base for either rural escape or city sightseeing.
