Winter is a magical time on Rock Creek. Clear blue skies (no inversions), frosted trees and winter snow set the stage for cross country skiing or snowshoeing along the river. Return to the cabin and warm up by the cozy fire. The cabin is accessible year round. Located on a county road off the maintained portion of Rock Creek Road, the driveway is plowed (if necessary) all winter long.
Visit a student at the University of Montana and have family time in our cozy cabin instead of the city of Missoula! Or take is a game at the University and return to the cabin for a very comfortable getaway..
For 22 years, we owned the Cabins at Lopstick in Pittsburg, NH. Hosting guests from all over the world who traveled to northern New Hampshire to fishing, vacation, snowmobile and and hunt. In 2008, we bought a little cabin on Rock Creek. We rented it out until 2013 when we sold Lopstick and moved permanently to Montana to fish, hike and hunt Montana. Of all the places we've fished in the American West, we chose Rock Creek as our home.
Lisa and Tim Savard purchased this cabin in 2014
In 2014 when the opportunity arose to purchase the property that we share a driveway with, we made the decision to go back into the cabin rental business and share once again, this incredible area of Montana.
Golden Stone is an ample sized, four bedroom vacation home with a gas fireplace, lovely covered farmer's porch, large, fully equipped kitchen. Just a short walk to the river's edge and the Sawmill Creek Fishing Access, and you'll be wading in the Blue Ribbon Trout Stream, Rock Creek, fishing for cuts, rainbows, browns, and bull trout. The 360 degree views of the Sapphire Mountains is nothing short of stunning.
Tim & Lisa are great hosts & the cabin is fantastic. The only thing you'll need to bring is food as the cabin has anything else you'd want from plastic wrap to a corkscrew to spare batteries. This is an A+ experience.
The cabin is close to great fishing spots (within at most 5 miles of our hot spots). The four bedrooms were sufficient for our group and the two baths have plenty of room, particularly the upstairs bath. The kitchen, as noted by others, is well stocked. Only note for others is the kitchen layout provides for a large bar area for 6 stools but there is not a table and chairs to sit around for meals or playing games. I would normally lower my rating for that lack of feature in a family cabin but the location and reasonable surroundings make up for it. Thank you for aodating a nice family stay.
Our stay at the Golden Stone was one of the best vacations we have had. Our "cabin" was lovely - clean, comfortable and well appointed. All the comforts of home, nestled in one of the most beautiful of valleys. Lisa and Tim were great hosts, offering great hiking and fishing tips. We could not have asked for more.
House was spotless and had a nice home feeling. The owners where very helpful with information as to were and how to fish other rivers in the area. I would highly recommend this house for your next Montana vacation.
The house has everything you will need to cook amazing meals minus an actual chef. We spent the week of Thanksgiving and had a wonderful time. The creek is beautiful and just a short walk from the house. The hosts were wonderful and live right next door to help if you need anything.
Thanks so much! Perfect cabin and location?
