Upper Kimberley Lodge is a magnificent 4,200sq ft private luxury chalet with slate, hardwood and granite throughout. 5 very large bedrooms with en suite and deck access, 400 sq ft mezzanine (loft) games and lounging area also with deck access. Open plan living dining area, wet bar, leather sofas, log fire, 4ft wide open tread wooden staircase, stunning 20 foot cathedral ceilings. Large deck with 8 person spa hot tub and gas barbecue. Wheelchair accessible and located on Stemwinder Drive just a short walk from the North Star Quad Ski Lift and Trickle Creek golf course. With its wonderful tranquil yet modern living space, grand cathedral ceilings and open plan kitchen, dining and living area this is the largest rental chalet on the ski hill. A further lock off en suite bedroom which will sleep 2 on the lower ground floor is also available at extra charge. Private off road parking, dedicated games and reading room plus a private spa tub. The living area with its leather sofas and real log fire is welcoming and just the place to sit and relax with a drink whilst recounting the days activities with family friends, and colleagues. The modern design open kitchen sports a linking wet bar with seating for 4. A large dining table which will seat 12. This is a real Swiss Style Alpine Chalet and a superb choice for extended family vacations and corporate events. The upper chalet will sleep 15 all in real beds plus 2 more in the lower extra bedroom (at extra cost)Ideal for Ski, golf, hiking and fishing vacations. Other golf courses include, Kimberley Golf Club, Bootleg Gap, Way Lynn, Mission Hills and St Eugenes' Mission Resort. The hiking trail and nature park are within a few minutes walk and for the fisherman the St. Marys, Bull and Kootenay rivers plus numerous lakes are just a short drive away

About Richard Haines

My wife Susan and I have been involved in skiing travel and tourism since the 1980s. Having skied and snowboarded at many resorts in Europe and North America and have stayed at many 5 star chalets and lodges. We first came to ski Canada in 2004 with a UK television film crew. We travelled around most of the BC and Alberta ski resorts before deciding Kimberley was the best choice to build a unique European style purpose built ski chalet. Our luxury chalet was designed and built by us for the use of family friends, and selected clients as a place to relax, enjoy the better things in life and enjoy both the property and the mountains. It's truly a magnificent property (the largest and most spacious in Kimberley) with all the key vacation rental amenities; hot tub, wood burning fireplace, wet bar, open plan kitchen, games area, TV, DVD, High speed internet and only a short walk from both the high speed chairlift and Trickle Creek golf course. We limit the number of rentals to our home to ensure it remains the most special vacation home in Kimberley. When it's available, it's the perfect place to vacation, spoil yourself and create wonderful lasting memories.

Having visited numerous ski resorts in the winter of 2004/05 including Kicking Horse, Jasper, Panorama, Fernie, Lake Louise, Big White, Red Mountain and Kimberley we decided Kimberly was the ideal resort with its unique micro climate and exceptional snow record.

We then spent the spring looking at homes in Kimberley only to realize that they were all lacking the 5 star space and quality of vacation living we required.

Luckily with the help of a local realtor we found a great plot on Stemwinder Drive just a short walk the the ski lifts and using our experience of staying at numerous ski chalets designed what we believe to be the very best ski chalet vacation home in the area. What makes this chalet unique

Many properties in Kimberley are now described as ski chalets. I can assure you they are not. They are normal family homes with limited space. Ours is a real spacious purpose built ski chalet with a 4200 sq foot footprint. It ia the largest and best rental home on the Kimberley ski hill in a great location.Exceptional light and airy open plan family room, kitchen and diner complete with wet bar.

Perfect for a large group or families

Although I felt like we were in a massage parlour with the layout of the rooms, the overall layout of the house was amazing. Plenty of space and privacy can be had at all locations.

You must however ensure that the tenants downstairs below the property are away, because the place does carry noise due to it's vast enormity and layout.

Great property manager to deal with, and relatively quick to respond. The only caution I would say is that you are required to put a large Damage Deposit (out of pocket, no exceptions) or you face interest by using your credit card. It will increase the overall cost by roughly 10% if you are unable to pay off, which unfortunately not all of us have $5000 sitting around.
