Paul is an architect and Rachel is a landscape architect and planner. We have lived in Kailua over 30 years. We enjoy sharing our corner of paradise with our guests.
Rachel purchased this Studio in 1989
Why Rachel chose Kailua
We are very conveniently located between Kailua Town and Kailua Beach. Kuulei Road is at the very end of the Pali Highway so we are also very convenient to Honolulu . Over the years we have had friends and family from the mainland visit. They are amazed and often say that they do not know of any place that has this combination of mountains, magnificent beach and lovely little town. We have an amazing monkeypod tree which shades the home. We are conveniently located between Kailua Beach and Kailua Town. We have replaced the fence and enlarged the Secret Garden to better serve guests. Hope to have updated photos by July 10th! Yes, we are always looking for ways to update and improve! Check out this link! https://tours.360aaa.net/public/vtour/display/906421#!/ We are a licensed Bed and Breakfast with the City and County of Honolulu You do not have to worry about the City closing this business.
What makes this Studio unique
Someone said that Kailua has air like velvet and ocean like champagne. We like the soft air and love to swim in the waves.

The place was cut, peaceful and quiet. The two block walk to the beach was perfect. I will return
Cozy and comfortable
Check-in process was a breeze. Property is located in a great neighborhood and within walking distance to shops and beach. The place is well furnished and clean. The scones that were left for us were delicious!
Thank you for your kind words.
Location location location
This cozy little place was everything it was said to be! Close to town and the beach, also the perfect location to go anywhere on the island.. I would definitely recommend this place to any couple visiting Oahu..
Thank you so much for your kind words.
Can't Be Better
The property is very nice and the location is real good. Enjoyed the yard and the room is nice for a couple. Lots of books to read. Very quiet neighborhood and not much traffic. Would recommend it to friends.
Thank you for your kind words.
Close to the beach and shops
Parking was available for our car which is a bonus.
Great location but slightly noisy
We enjoyed our stay at Rachel and Paul's property quite a bit, and I think what we like the most about it is the location! The studio is in Kailua, a quiet town but with plenty to do near by, and we managed to walk to the breweries, restaurants, and beach near by many days on our trip. Our biggest complaint was the noise, our first few nights were great, the people in the next studio (that we share a wall with) was either not there a whole lot or very quiet. The studio can get noisy from the passing traffic or if the people staying at the studio next door are loud... We didn't use the AC until the last day when it was the tail end of Memorial Day weekend with a party going on next door, and we had to close the windows to block out the noise. Overall it was a fine experience, and my husband definitely really enjoyed looking for all the geckos that live around the property
Kailua is a small beach town. It has a lovely beach often called Hawaii's best kept secret. Sheffield House is conveniently located between Kailua Beach and Kailua Town.
There are now two Brew Pubs within walking distance.
Kailua has a massage school where discount massages may be obtained.
We recently walked into town for Thai food and then stopped into the Ruth Sorenson gallery for an art show opening, then we stopped into the Tri Peaks brewery to see their new shop. This made for a pleasant evening walk.
