This is our fully furnished family cabin located in the charming town of Windermere, B.C. Our vacation property is a walkout bungalow with over 2000 sq/ft on both levels. The upstairs features two bedrooms, a 4 pce bathroom, a large kitchen with island eating area, separate dining area, living room with Osburn wood burning fireplace, hardwood, carpet and A/C. There is a large wrap around deck with outdoor furniture, Weber BBQ and mountain/lake views. The walkout basement level has three more bedrooms, a bathroom with shower, family room, and a laundry room with new HE front load washer and dryer. The laundry room also has a second fridge and extra storage. There are LCD Flat Screen TV's, wireless internet and shaw cable. Board and video games available for use. The Windermere public beach is approx. 150 meters away and has park area, trees, dock, children's play area, tables and change rooms. The large back yard is fenced with green space and a fire pit. Our home has a double attached garage with 2 basketball hoops. A large driveway easily allows parking for several cars plus a boat. This home is non smoking and owner may consider outdoor dog use in the dog run. Definitely no animals inside house. Our children are grown now and this is why we have decided to rent out our vacation retreat. As a family we were able to ski/snowboard at nearby Panorama, Fairmount, and Kicking Horse ski resort (approx. 1 hour away in Golden). Ice fishing, skating, x-country skiing on Lake Windermere is available in the winter and Banff is about 1.5 hours away. Summer activities include swimming, fishing, water skiing, wakeboarding, biking, hiking, sightseeing, hot springs, and golfing. There is a general store with groceries, movies, ice cream, alcohol, and fireworks up the street only a one minute walk. There is miniature golf w/ go karts 5 min walk away as well. The Windy Café which serves excellent Chinese food is a two minute walk from our house. Windermere has numerous golf courses within a 10 minute drive. Our home is a short 10 min drive to Invermere where you can load up on grocery supplies, eat at restaurants, bars, shopping etc. There are art galleries, wood carving and glassblowing shops close by. This house is suitable for families, couples/friends, family reunions, getaway skiers and golfers to make lots of fun memories. We hope that you will enjoy it as much as we have! Why Peter chose Windermere
Lake Windermere is one of the premier vacation spots only 2.5 hours from Calgary. Our children have grown up here in the summer and winter with years of great vacation memories. We are located in a quiet and beautiful location with easy access to many activities and amenities. See nature at its finest with deer, bald eagles, elk and numerous wildlife making stops through the back alley and at the beach.
What makes this Cabin unique
We love the small town atmosphere of Windermere; how safe and quiet it is. It is a perfect vacation getaway for winter and summer activities. Our children have made lifelong friends from Calgary, AB. and area that also vacation here. It is a welcome change from the big city life that we experience day to day in Calgary.
Would stay somewhere next time.
Nice place but the owner was not helpful and rude.
The renters wanted to cancel because of the wildfire and were worried about the highway 93 being open. The Highway and the Valley were open and I had no control over the fires and road conditions . The renter did decide to go and the roads were fine. That was the issue, which I had no control over.
This property needs cleaning and maintenance
While there we cleaned out both bathroom fans, unplugged the filters of the air conditioner, repaired one chair by gluing and putting in a screw, the inside and outside windows were very dirty, we reset the ballcock in the main floor bathroom to stop the water from running continually, repaired top bunk frame, cleared out hornet nest, tightened pot handles, all to make our stay better. We did not clear the cobwebs from the fan and light fixtures and ceiling, patio umbrella is unusable, 2 of the four screws holding up the DR light fixture are missing,, only 4 rolls of tp and 2 of the 6 bottles of water and no soap for shower were vailable, picnic table rotting and uneven, generally dusty. With all of this said, the layout was good and proximity to the beach was also good. The room set up worked for our family of 10. I would not recommend this location until maintenance and cleaning was thoroughly done. Windemere itself was a great location and we had lots of fun at the lake.
Our home was cleaned the day the renter showed up by a professional cleaning service. We are sorry if they missed the air filters. The weather was extremely hot and dust can appear. We are sorry about the two screws you fixed, very minor. A hornets nest can happen in the summer as a normal course of business. Lose pot handles can happen. The picnic table is a hand carved log table that is not made to be perfectly even the wood is not rotten it is log. All the renter had to do was phone me and I would have had the cleaners come by and re clean and get the missing soap etc. Dirty widows were a result of forest fire smoke in the valley. We have cleaners on standby for this reason . We also have a handyman that lives one block away that can come and fix anything even screws. Also we have a cabin maintenance firm that we use to fix any and all items. All the renter had to do was call the owner and we would comply with her requests. We do not expect the renter to fix any screws we prefer to use our maintenance staff. We are fully booked and have for the past 4 summers and have never had any complaints. It is ok with me if you do not rent our home again as we have plenty of renters who want to rent our house.
Nice big house with lots of beds, close to the beach and the convenience store. Nice big deck, firepit, webber bbq and a good driveway for basketball.
The property satisfied our needs and expectations. The house was clean. Some of the amenities were a little dated.
To date, after completing our visit 10 days ago, we have still not received our damage deposit. VRBO Is quick to charge for the use but seems slow to refund the damage deposit.
Great place to stay
Thanks a lot to the owner and his property as it was great place to stay! There were 6 of us celebrating New Year getaway in the mountains. There is everything you need in the house - bedding, nice spacious kitchen, all the utensils, full propane tanks, etc. Very close to the lake where we were drifting a bit and skating. Panorama ski resort, Radium and Fairmont hot springs are both 20 minutes drive.
We were happy to go with this house. Hope to visit it again one day! Thank you, Peter!
The Great Family Getaway
The House was perfect for our family get together. There plenty of room for small kids to play yet not be in the way. Peter was very accommodating in permitting use by our rather large group.(5 Kids, 5 Adults). the beach is a 5 minute walk away. the House had all the amenities of home including parking. The little store is just around the corner for needed items(ice).
