Description

Photos and Description of this 3 bedroom holiday home in Bootjack - Old Oak Hideaway II

This updated three bedroom, two bath home sleeps 10

This is a new vacation rental we are offering for the months of April through October. Even though this house is a new offering we will treat is just as we have our initial vacation rental, Old Oak Hideaway I (Listing #406955). The two units are separate buildings with a large driveway and plenty of parking for everyone. Surrounded by Pine, Oak and Manzanita trees the house is not visible by neighbors and sets well off the road via a paved driveway.

This is a three bedroom two bath house that has beds for 10. This house has a large great room that encompasses the kitchen, dinning and living room that is kept cozy with a wood burning fire place. There is an additional family room with a large screen tv, dvd/vcr, dvd library and many books to enjoy. The enclosed porch has a futon, a dinning table that seats 8 and lots of kids toys, games and puzzles. The master bedroom consists of a queen size bed, tv with Roku and private bathroom with shower. The second bedroom consists of a twin over full bunkbed with an additional twin hiding under the bunkbed. The third bedroom consists of a double size bed. Each bedroom has it's own baseboard heater. The common area bathroom has a tub/shower combo. If you have children they will love the frog full of bath toys! Both bathrooms have plenty of fresh towels and toilet paper. We also provide shampoo, conditioner and shower gel in case you forget yours and have run out during your adventure.

There is a large deck for relaxing on after a log day in Yosemite or for your morning coffee!

The kitchen has modern appliances: refrigerator, stove, oven, dish washer, microwave, toaster, blender and coffee maker. It is equipped with pots, pans, cooking utensils, dishes, cups, glasses and silverware. There are even baking pans and utensils. We provide paper products such as paper towels and napkins along with salt, peppers. There is also coffee and tea waiting with sugar and creamer.

Also available for use are a washing machine and dryer, ironing board and iron and workout equipment. Wifi is accessible throughout the house. There is an evaporative cooler to keep the house cool in the summer.

About Shell Ostler

My husband and I met on a annual friends trip to Yosemite, dated for a year and on the following annual trip he proposed to me at North Dome. We were married a year later in Mariposa, where we moved to to start our life and family together. We've been in Mariposa for a few years now and love living here and sharing our wonderful property with our guests.

Shell Ostler purchased this house in 2010

What makes this house unique

Our cat friendly guardians Cooper (Husky) and Dino (Black Lab) keep the bears away but you may see many of the other wild animals we have wondering the property at times, deer, fox, coyote, wild turkey and others.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Shell welcomed us as soon as we arrived and gave us all the necessary information about the house. She was later accessible via phone. House was exactly like seen on the pictures. It was clean and had everything we could ask for including nice appliances. Neighborhood was very peaceful.

The best!!

  • 5 of 5

I want to write a raving review. The accommodations were spacious and held all of us nicely. I have never experienced a more equipped kitchen!! Shell has thought of everything. Plenty of outdoor spaces to congregate. We had privacy to run and play and act silly. I hope we didn't annoy the neighbors. Located a reasonable distance from Yosemite, and the hideaway offered a quiet reprieve from the madness of the park. I am just trying to say, we really, really enjoyed the place, and I am giving it the highest recommendation. It was so much better than was expected.

We had a great time! Very clean & comfortable. Dan & Shell were very kind hosts.

We would definitely book the property again! Nicely appointed home where everything was well prepared in advance of our stay. The beds were comfortable, there was plenty of room for 5 adults, and we felt right at home. We all enjoyed Dino, Dan & Shell's old lab mix. Dino lovingly greeted us as if we were family. We would definitely book this property again!

Everything we needed for our group of eight.

  • 5 of 5

Comfortable & complete with everything you'd need when at home. The house was clean and owners very helpful for area information. Highly recommend as a place to stay. No complaints. Unfortunately the California draught has impacted the area and even the beauty of the Yosemite National Park itself. We felt lucky to find such a place to stay for our visit.

Perfect in Every Way!

  • 5 of 5

This house was perfect in every way. We had 3 adults and 2 teenagers in our group. There was plenty of space to spread out and wonderful areas to all be together. The kitchen is stocked with great pots, pans, rice cooker, grill (everything you could possibly want to cook with). But the best part of the house is how clean it was. Every nook and cranny was spotless. It smelled so fresh and clean when we walked in. Dan was there to greet us and was very helpful and personable. We also loved the town of Mariposa. We would recommend this house to anyone.

What a great place for families!

  • 5 of 5

My sister and I, and our families had a wonderful stay at Old Oak Hideaway II. It was clean, modern, very nicely decorated, and had a lot for the kids to do at night, after a day of exploring Yosemite. We enjoyed being greeted in the driveway by the friendly resident black lab in the evening, the kitchen had everything we needed and more, and the distance of about an hour to Yosemite, was just fine. I've stayed in many rental houses by owner and so far this has been my favorite one.

Just What We Needed

  • 4 of 5

SCORE! This property exceeded our expectations. Lots of room to spread out; lots of amenities; well-stocked kitchen. If you are looking for a family-friendly place, this one is highly recommended. We are already planning our next trip to this area, and this property is one of the reasons we want to return.

We are located almost half way between the South entrance and the West entrance. The West entrance is Hwy 140 through the town of Mariposa and takes approximately 45 minutes to get to the entrance. This is the quickest way to get to the valley floor. The South entrance is Hwy 41 through the town of Oakhurst and it takes approximately 1 hour to get to the entrance. This is the entrance I would recommend if you are going to the Mariposa Grove or to the Wawona area. Just beyond Oakhurst is the beautiful resort area of Bass Lake. With such places so close, all kinds of activities are yours for the choosing: fishing, water sports, snow sports, hiking, biking, golfing, rafting, historical tours, gold panning, rock climbing, zip lining, horseback riding, birding, and so much more.
