Charming 2-bedroom country cottage with gorgeous mountain views from every room, located in the Western Catskills. Open floor plan downstairs containing living area with satellite TV (including HBO), dining area, kitchen, and a half bath. Both bedrooms located upstairs along with full bath and separate laundry center. The 300 sq ft deck faces dramatic mountain views. Cottage is new construction -- everything is immaculately clean and in perfect working condition -- with an aesthetic mix of rustic and contemporary touches throughout, such as wide plank pine floors, reclaimed barn board walls, state-of-the-art appliances and custom built cabinetry with soapstone countertops. Free wifi throughout the house.
The cottage is located on a quiet country road, 2 miles outside the quaint village of Hobart, 'The Used Bookstore Capital of Upstate NY,' where you will find several antiquarian and used bookstores, antique shops and much more. Plattekill Ski Resort is only a 20 minute drive, and the Stamford Golf Club is just 10 minutes away.
A cozy house with beautiful views. It was perfect for a holiday getaway. The owners were very organized and easy to contact. Every detail was attended to and taken care of for our stay. We enjoyed the wood stove and the outdoor deck. Even though it was cold at the time of our stay, we couldn't help but use the deck, particularly for late night star-gazing. We had planned on doing some hiking while at the cottage, but the views from the home were so spectacular that we decided to relax by the fire instead. We had a wonderful time, and would gladly stay here again.
This house is country paradise! We stayed over Columbus Day weekend and the foliage was breathtaking with views out every window. The house was perfect for two couples and we loved having the wood stove for the cool fall nights. The kitchen was wonderfully equipped and bathrooms had everything we could need. The owner was very easy to get in touch with and quick to respond to any questions. He was also very accommodating when we had a family emergency and needed to push our visit back a day. The only inconvenience was that you have to carry all trash out with you and it was a holiday weekend so the transfer station was closed.
We cannot wait until our next visit!
Beautiful, cozy, super clean and welcoming house. Great communication with owner (Robert), who made sure that every little question answered and also was flexible with our check in and out times (which was great). Two nights are not enough to fully enjoy the beauty of the place, the morning fog over mountains, the birds at the porch, the moving clouds, the serenity and peace of detachment. But we tried :) Thank you so much for sharing your lovely cottage with us!
My husband and I recently rented this cottage, accompanied by our older dog. It was a wonderful experience from start to finish. Communication with the owner was prompt, reliable, and accurate. The cottage itself was lovely: clean, comfortable, quiet, well appointed. We were there to cycle primarily, and found great cycling right from the house (be prepared for some pretty awesome hills, although there are ways to avoid them). On one of our rides, we saw a farmer assisting a sheep give birth to 2 lambs! Each morning we walked our dog along the country road right from the house. We kept the bird feeder filled, and enjoyed watching a great variety of birds right off the deck. We ate in most nights, and found the kitchen very well equipped. One night we went to Table on Ten for some pretty interesting pizzas. Overall, just a wonderful experience!
Enjoyed our 4 day, 3 night stay at the inviting and clean cottage - 2 adults, 2 teenagers and a baby. Enjoyed the views, beautiful weather, watching the birds fly by and the deer in the distance. Hobart was a quiet little destination, relaxing and friendly people. Beautiful hiking on the nearby Catskill Trail (old railway bed). Would rent the place again for sure.
The cottage is beautiful and cozy! This cottage was thought out well when constructed. Everything you will need to shack up in this cottage is there (minus the food and drinks of course). We were 2 couples and let me say we admired the entire house, it was just right for us. We did not venture out much from the cottage so I can't speak about the town. My female friend and I loved the spacious kitchen (including decor). We enjoyed cooking inside while the husbands enjoyed grilling outside with the great views of the surrounding mountains. A lot of sunlight downstairs with one side of the house filled with large windows. Overall, a great and quiet place to stay. I would definitely rent out this cottage again in the future.
