Bring your family group or friends to this beautiful Ca. bungalow in the heart of Lodi and wine country. This home has been beautifully restored with antiques throughout. This craftsman style bungalow built in 1922 has hardwood floors and wood paneling and is over 2600 sq. ft. There are 3 bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths, a large front room, formal dining room with built in leaded glass sideboard, family/game room, den/office, atrium, and reading nook. The kitchen has been completely remodeled with granite counters but still has the remarkable 1926 Fridgidaire ice box that is perfect for storing wine. The sunny kitchen and dining area is surrounded outside by camelias which are by most of the unique windows that fill the house with natural light. They also allow for beautiful views of the tree lined neighborhood and the park across the way in this prime location. You can also enjoy reading in the cozy nook or the private plant filled atrium. The huge fenced backyard offers a patio for enjoying a cup of coffee or having a group get-together for a barbeque. The patio table seats 8 and there is additional wicker furniture and a picnic table with benches for larger groups. The Merlot Bungalow sits across the street from a popular kids park and is 2 blocks away from downtown Lodi which offers many wine tasting rooms, restaurants, art galleries, shopping and theaters. In addition Lodi offers access to over 80 wineries with award winning wines for your wine tasting pleasure. Also within walking distance is Hutchins Street Square which hosts many events and weddings. You may also want to go to Lodi Lake and nature center with its beautiful park , picnic area and water activities. Near-by is historic Micke's Grove with history museum, zoo, golf, and Japanese Tea Garden. North of Lodi is the skydiving center, airport and restaurant. Just west of Lodi and Lodi Lake is historic Woodbridge.
We have an antique and estate sales business and had come across this house in disrepair. We had known the owner and this house for a long time and had admired it's architecture. We couldn't pass it up in such a beautiful location. It is close walking distance to everything! We have spent almost a year lovingly restoring it. We have just added another new central heat and air upstairs for the summer months.
The wine industry has grown so much in Lodi, but very few places are available for rent for the wine events. We have are own connections to the wine industry and we have a vineyard of merlot grapes, thus came the name 'Merlot Bungalow'.
We had a terrific stay at this historic craftsman bungalow in the heart of Lodi. The house was clean, beds extremely comfortable (hard to get up in the morning) and all our needs were met. Because our stay landed over the Thanksgiving holiday our hosts kindly stocked the kitchen with platters, serving utensils, roasting pans, etc....The back yard provided another gathering space although we hit it on a particularly cold weekend but it was a little oasis that would be very comfortable in the heat of the summer. We walked downtown to the Main St for drinks and meals. We would book this again for our visit. We hosted many relatives who live nearby for gatherings and there were multiple spaces with seating to gather throughout the home.
I can't imagine that you'll ever meet nicer, more thoughtful owners that Keith and Maurie. They have given such care to this beautiful home. It's very well stocked with everything you'll need and we liked the wine they left for us so much that we're now buying it for ourselves. As others have mentioned, the house is walking distance from downtown Lodi and the Hutchens Street Square Community/Performing Arts Center. If you're in Lodi on the first Friday of the month, don't miss the Lodi Art Stroll. It's so much fun.
Maurie and Keith are very involved with the community and can provide you with information on just about everything. Two things to note: 1) The bedrooms are upstairs and the staircase has narrow steps if you have mobility problems and 2) If you like to have the windows open and are noise sensitive like we are, you might want to bring along some ear plugs for those mornings the gardeners in the neighborhood start working earlier than you'd like them to. This won't be a problem in the summer when you will have the windows closed. You'll notice I still gave this place the 5 stars it deserves. It's a gem.
We had a great time staying at this house! The house was clean, neat, spacious and decorated very nice. It was in downtown Lodi next to all the shops and restaurants. The owner even have a bottle wine and some cheese ready for us upon check-in. I am back in Lodi into weeks I will stay at this house again. It was fantastic!
Six of us stayed here during Lodi's Sandhill Crane Festival in early November. We felt that this immaculate house was even better than described - a beautifully restored craftsman. The house has a well stocked kitchen, games to play for all ages, movies, a guest book with restaurant suggestions and menus, etc. It is an easy walk to downtown Lodi which has some very nice restaurants. We sampled the Dancing Fox Winery and Bakery, Rosewood Bar and Grill, and the Lodi Beer Co. They were all good. Hutchins Square, the meeting place for the Sandhill Crane Festival events, was a short walk from the house. I would definitely recommend this house to others and plan to rent it again myself as there really is quite a bit to do in the Lodi area. We sampled a few of the wineries and would like to visit more. The area is a great spot for those who enjoy birding and other wildlife.
Our performance team stayed at this property for the weekend, providing us a home away from home that was beautiful. The living space was large enough to accommodate our large group comfortably, but it was the backyard that quickly became everyone's favorite place to relax. Everything we needed for our stay was provided, and whatever we needed otherwise (food, drink, etc.) was within a 5 minute radius. The only downside to the property was there was only one shower. We knew that going in, so no surprises there. . .but something to consider if your group is particular about needing time to get ready. If we ever perform in the Stockton/Lodi area again, we will surely be coming back to this amazing property.
Our family of four stayed at this property while on a family getaway for the weekend. The house felt just like home. We were able to walk to Hutchins Street Square that was hosting a music/food truck event. We also toured some wineries. We spent the evenings just hanging out in the beautiful backyard. We would definitely go back to the charming town of Lodi and would love to stay at this property!
Lodi is a huge area for tasting some of the best wines in the state, with over 80 wineries and events.
