Spend valuable time with military family and friends at this unique home in Swansboro, a short drive to Camp Lejeune. Only five minutes from Emerald Isle and spectacular beaches, Swansboro is a popular destination for short and long stays.
From the house you can walk downtown where many fine restaurants and unique shops are located. Swansboro has festivals and activities throughout the year; from the spectacular Fourth of July Fireworks, the Arts Festival in June, weekly Summer Outdoor concerts at the Pavilion, Mullet Festival, and Christmas Flotilla, you never need to get into a car to enjoy the fun.
You can walk down to Ward's Shore where you can launch your boat and take off to explore the true Crystal Coast! Bear Island (Hammocks Beach) is only minutes away. It is truly one of the world's most beautiful and totally undeveloped islands. Do not have a boat? Not to worry, you can take the state-run ferry to the island, or rent a boat, or kayak! Deep sea fishing charters are also available at Casper's Marina. Swansboro is surrounded by nature reserves, salt marshes and small islands ideal for jet skiing and fishing, and has easy access to the ocean for deep sea fishing.
And if you want to explore the area there are many other things to do - 5 world class golf courses are within easy driving distance; take a fishing charter, rent a kayak and explore the sound; watch the dolphins from Ward's Shore (5 minute walk) or swim/kayak with them in the sound; go horseback riding on the beach, visit Historic Morehead City and Beaufort, go para-sailing, water skiing, jet skiing - the list goes on and on!

My husband and I have been married for 38 years. We are blessed with 2 sons and daughters in law and 3 grand children. I work at Duke where I run a global health center and my husband works at UNC at the Center of Excellence for Community Mental Health. As you can see, this home is 'divided'. We love kayaking in Swansboro and the rich and diverse environment of Durham and Chapel Hill. We hope that you enjoy your stay.
Cynthia and Edward Binanay purchased this house in 2004
My husband and I love to kayak. It is an easy walk to the waterfront where we can launch our kayaks and then weave throughout the barrier islands and Bear Island in safe, protected waters. The wildlife is spectacular, bring your binoculars. But it is also a GREAT place for our grandchildren since we can walk everywhere!

The house was wonderful and in a great location! Easy to check in and check out, had everything we needed. Perfect place to come get away for a weekend!
We enjoyed at stay in Swansboro and the house was within walking distance to restaurants and shops. The house was clean and the owners fulfilled all promises. We liked that my wife's parents could stay on main level as it had a bedroom. We really enjoyed sitting on the front porch talking with a view of the water.
We would recommend this property to our friends and family
I brought my husband and four kids here to stay close to my brother and his family vacationing here, and was pleasantly surprised. The historic feel of the home is made even better with the well-equipped details of the house. The whole party of eleven of us were all able to sit down together in the dining room and share a meal together without blinking twice. The house does not lack in character or usefulness. I especially enjoyed the cupola on top of the house.
Not up to the usual standard of our holiday bookings through home and away, disappointed with cleanliness of kitchen and mats in bathrooms, too much personal belongings around the house ... Happy if it had been a family friend giving us house for a few days but not to pay rental. Though have to say position of house and swansboro itself was great
The house was wonderful. The location was perfect. We walked down to the water front every night for dinner, ice cream or to visit the candy store which was a huge hit with the kids. The house had everything we needed and more. The owners were very easy to work with and responded quickly to our only need which was to stay an extra night. Everything in the home was comfortable and it immediately felt like home. And the porches were incredible. We will be back, that is for sure.
Generally well-kept historic property with lots of character and all the expected amenities. Good value. We felt very welcome in the neighborhood. Easy walk to restaurants, shops, the waterfront area, etc. Simple for two people to hand-carry kayaks to a nice little launch to access Bear Island, the ICW and much more. Owners were super-responsive and accommodating. Would not hesitate to return.
Great kayaking to Bear Island and surrounding areas
