Not a good winter rental

  • 2 of 5

This is really NOT a winter rental. Driveway too steep and ice covered to drive or walk over safely. House was so over full of furniture it was difficult to get into the beds. Otherwise clean and comfortable. Would be better as a summer rental for a family with small children.

Owner's Response: We apologize for any ice that you experienced at the cottage. If we knew that this had occurred we would have taken care of it immediately. We are very sorry you had to experience that. It was a historic Christmas week in the North East due to frigid cold temperatures and ice/snow storm that closed down parts of interstate 95 / 495. Many people have stayed at the cottage throughout the winter and have hosted their Thanksgiving, Christmas and holiday events at our home. We even have one family who comes back each year to host their Thanksgiving dinner with family. Our reviews and guest book have many testimonies of their wonderful experiences. This cottage is directly on the lake. We have three indoor fireplaces. The original brick fireplace has been equipped with the highest gas BTU available. In addition the house has electric heat with thermostats in every room. We also have an outdoor high end gas stove which is on the screened in porch and is designed to heat the porch as well as the outdoor living area. Many people use the outdoor stove after skating on the lake. Since the house is directly on the lake there is a very short partial dirt road to the house. You may not have been aware of this but there is also another paved access road to the house a few yards away. On each side of the house are two private parking spaces. They are both new cobble stone and one acts as our own private boat ramp. The few yards that you have to drive down to the cottage makes it secluded and private. There is another exit to the cul-de-sac street parking a few yards away. It's nice to enjoy the lake house in the summer but we did design the house for a winter experience as well.

Beautiful relaxing stay

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay of a couple days, only wish we would have booked longer! A true water front property on Lake Archer- centrally located enough for us to travel to Boston, Plymouth, Salem, Etc. quite and nice the property is perfect for small families! 2 Kayaks, a peddle boat, a canoe, and fishing gear are all on the shore with a gas grill on the side of the house. They made sure the place was spotless and comfortable for our stay!

Thanks again!

Old rejuvenated and updated cottage with tons of charm, on a wonderful lake, making for great views

  • 4 of 5

Sure, every place will have a few issues, but as soon as you unpack and sit down on the screened in porch, you won't notice anything but the views. The master bedroom is cramped with furniture so we just moved some out. The queen bed was SO comfortable! There is very little room for storing clothes anywhere in the house. Of course, you don't need to pack too much - We lived in our bathing suits and most of the area restaurants are casual.

The kitchen is completely updated and fully equipped. There is a full bathroom just off the kitchen which is all new as well. There were plenty of towels, linens, blankets, and pillows. There's a paddle boat and two kayaks, a couple of tubes (for kids), and a few fishing poles. My husband caught an 18 1/4" bass his 2nd day fishing! All of the amenities were great, we were greeted with a nice card and a bottle of wine. The neighbors were very nice to us and we were even invited to a graduation/birthday party. The boat parade celebrating the Fourth of July was so fun, as were the fireworks. Different family members joined us at different times over the two weeks that we had the house. Everyone had a blast fishing, swimming, boating, playing games, eating and drinking . . . We put the television on only once the entire visit. Thank you Heidi - Our memories of your wonderful, quirky home will last a lifetime. Tom and Lisa H.

Location is Everything!

  • 5 of 5

This apartment is perfect for a visit to Boston! My understanding of Boston geography was minimal, but this Beacon Hill locations is phenomenal! Close to everything and within walking distance of historic sites, the Common, three T stops, retail and incredible restaurants. And if you are from my generation, the Cheers bar is just a few minutes walk away! The apartment is perfect for a couple or a family with kids willing to use a sofa bed or roll-a-way. I visited with my just college graduated daughter who used the roll-a-way with great success. The apartment has everything we needed and was immaculately clean on check-in. Just a wonderful experience. I truly look forward to returning to Boston as soon as I can, I still have so much to do and see there. And you can bet I will be looking to join Heidi and Steve once more!

Love home and was perfect for a weekend away.

  • 4 of 5

We loved how close it was to Gillette Stadium where we were watching the NCAA lacrosse games. And it was great to come back after a fulll day to relax and unwind. Thanks so much.
