I am a cellist in the Louisiana Philharmonic orchestra and the mother of a fabulous 8-year old girl.
Jeanne purchased this House in 2005
Why Jeanne chose Bayou St. John
I had lived in various parts of New Orleans for 7 years, having moved here to join the symphony in 1998. I sort of happened onto this beautiful house in Faubourg St. John, a neighborhood I didn't know that well before, and fell in love with it and the with being so close to all the amenities of the Bayou and City Park and Esplanade Ave. It's just a great place to be, and it's perfect for the right person who wants to experience Jazz Fest a bit less like a tourist.

Walk to fairgrounds
This house is the consummate New Orleans home with big windows and tall ceilings. If you are looking to experience Big Easy living, this is it. The house is located in a beautiful area right near the St. John Bayou which is great for a morning run or a midday stroll. Most importantly for us, we were able to walk to and from the fairgrounds instead of waiting for a cab. When we contacted the owner to seek a good place to grab a drink she helped us with tips that only a local could give. We had a great experience.
So glad you had a great stay (despite soggy jazz fest).
A Warm welcome in NOLA
Our family of 5 (2 young adult children and a nephew) thoroughly enjoyed our time in this beautiful home during Jazzfest. The location was perfect! It's walking distance to JazzFest and City Park, as well as some cute neighbourhood restaurants. My family was totally enamored by this charming, character home that has all the architectural elements of the traditional NOLA style home but also boasts a beautifully renovated kitchen. The hostess welcomed us into her home with such warmth and generosity, doing everything she could to ensure our comfort. We look forward to returning to this gem in New Orleans on our next visit.
Beautiful Retreat for Our Small Family
We stayed with our six-year-old son the weekend before Mardi Gras and thoroughly enjoyed this enchanting and welcoming home. Our hostess was thoughtful and kind, leaving us excellent suggestions to help us enjoy the neighborhood and the weekend's festivities. I hope we are lucky enough to visit again.
Great Mid-City Home
We celebrated Thanksgiving in this spacious and well-designed home. We cooked up a storm in the large kitchen and easily had nine people for Thanksgiving dinner. Two convection ovens aided the process. The house is very well-located in this rapidly developing neighborhood and is within walking distance of City Park. The host went out of her way to accommodate as many of our needs as possible. My entire family would be pleased to stay there again.
My home is located on quiet beautiful street in the Faubourg St. John neighborhood of New Orleans. It is half a block off of Bayou St. John, where people run, walk dogs, kayak, paddle board, and just enjoy the fresh air. Esplanade Ave with many restaurants and shops and historic cemeteries is a 6 minute walk, as is the Fair Grounds where the famous Jazz and Heritage Festival happen the last week of April and first week of May. City Park with all its amenities of the New Orleans Museum of Art, Sculpture Garden, Botanical Gardens, amusement park and lake are will within walking distance. The French Quarter is just an 8 minute drive and other New Orleans attractions are very close via car.
