This magnificent cabin is located just outside of Mormon Lake Village in Tall Pines Estates. It was built in 1999 from white pine timbers trucked across the country from the Upper Peninsula in Michigan.
An open island kitchen, dining area, and living room with a wood-burning stove greet you as you enter the cabin on the ground floor. Down the hall are two bedrooms, one with two sets of bunk beds perfect for kids, and one with a queen size Sealy bed.
The main bathroom, laundry area, and mud room with extra refrigerator complete the ground floor.
Up the stairs is a large loft/bedroom with queen size Sealy bed, sitting area, second bathroom, and deck.
This house is surrounded on three sides by large decks for relaxing and entertaining.
What a wonderful stay we had in the Franz cabin! We drove up from Tucson for a wedding at Mormon Lake Lodge. This cabin was perfect for the six of us with room to spare. It was just close enough to the lodge, yet far enough to be able to escape when you needed peace and relaxation. We loved the family stories and the cabin was, and is clearly loved and well cared for by the Franz family. Jon was wonderful and easy to communicate with. The cabin is spectacular, tons of light, and immaculate. I love to cook and was delighted with the well stocked kitchen. We grilled outside a few nights and the air was glorious! A nice respite from Tucson heat! I highly recommend this cabin and hope to return again!
note: If you are driving up from Tucson or Phoenix, the 87 through Payson and up Lake Mary road is BEAUTIFUL. It is a paved 2 lane highway. Google maps suggested I-17 to Stoneman Lake road, which is great, but be advised Stoneman Lake road is mostly a dirt road and can be a bit rough. It might be tough in the winter. All routes lead to a great stay though, so enjoy
We stayed at the white pine cabin for a week. We have stayed there before, but only for a few days. This place is wonderful!! The pictures are spot on. Everything you need is there; i.e.. kitchen utensils, propane BBQ, DirectTV (in 2 rooms), linens, an extra frig in the mud room (so you don't have to keep buying ice for the coolers), and even some spices and condiments. The patio decking is spacious and we were able to grill and play games with the kids nearby. We brought a portable table from home, and tablecloth, and set it up for the kids to do projects outdoors since the weather was nice. We brought quads and buggies with us, and found a forest road nearby to go riding in the forest. The cabin is next to forest land, and we were greeted several times by cows walking by and mooing at us. We made a couple of trips into Flagstaff for supplies, which is not too far from the cabin. For quick necessities, the Mormon Lake Lodge with restaurant and convenience store is about 1 mile away. We had extra family staying nearby, and several times, the white pine cabin served as the meeting spot. The cabin is in an area of 1 acre lots with homes on most of them. The neighbors waved whenever we saw them, which was seldom. It's close to Mormon Lake Lodge, but not too close and you don't have to deal with all of the traffic. Jon was very nice to deal with and our deposit refund came promptly after our return from vacation. We highly recommend the white pine cabin and look forward to coming back.
P.S. When you stay, you have to check out the information binder that gives info about things to do and the story behind the cabin.
Special thanks to Jon for letting us stay at this cabin!!
Cabin was perfect for me and my family. We attended a wedding at the Mormon Lake Lodge and the cabin location was just perfect.
We stayed here for my son's wedding on 09/19, the cabin was very clean and comfortable. we had everything we needed from toilet paper to Wifi, it was convenient to the lodge and the wedding venue (5 minute drive). We all felt very much at home here and I would recommend this beautiful cabin to anyone, I hope to rent again in the future for a family vacation. My son's spend a lot of time in this beautiful community and the people are all so friendly.
We were fortunate to stumble across your cabin when researching a place for a four-generational stay to attend our Granddaughter's wedding at Mormon Lake. The home and surroundings are gorgeous and resort-like. Several visitors dropped in and all were in awe of your place and insisted on touring the entire cabin. It was comfortable for everyone ranging from 1 to 78 year of age. It was clean, well stocked with the necessities and with so much more including comfortable beds and furniture, cook friendly kitchen, propane bbq and high quality electronics including wi-fi. We were impressed with the "book" which gave instructions, answered questions and even told the charming history of your home. Chris, we appreciated your quick and friendly communications. Although it's a ten+ hour drive from our SoCal home, we hope to return one day. Thank your for a marvelous stay and making such a special event in our lives even more perfect.
We stayed at the White Pine Cabin in Mormon Lake and had a great time! Chris was extremely gracious and helpful with any of our questions and concerns! The cabin is immaculate and our family had a great time! We've been up to the Mormon Lake area a few times, but we didn't have an experience like this before. The grandkids had fun riding bikes, going on hikes, and doing projects with Gramma. We did some trail riding in our buggies and got caught in the rain 1 night. But no worries, they got dried off and we got everybody into karaoke and dancing in the great room. The kids and grandkids did a horseback ride over at the Lodge one day. Saturday was catch and release day at the Lodge. They loved it so much, they had to do some more "fishin" before loading up and heading back down the hill. We brought our own propane firepit since I wasn't sure what fire restrictions might be in place, but Chris already had a wood firepit onsite. We are definitely planning on returning! The granddaughters keep asking when we're all going back up to their cabin. The bunkbed room worked out well for 3 little girls, the loft bedroom was cool, and the regular bedroom was comfy. Even though it might make it harder for us to reserve in the future, we highly recommend the White Pine Cabin! This place is definitely a gem in the forest!
